WWW.GAMEHEROES.PH LAUNCHED
Hi everyone! I just want to announce that we’ve finally launched a new project that we’ve been working on tirelessly for the past few months. I’m very happy to let you guys know that we’ve launched a new website that basically aims to turn gaming into e-sports, much like what happened in Korea. The website will feature some of the most famous personalities in the Level Up community across all of our games. We will be updating the site on a weekly basis so be sure to regularly check it out.

Here’s the official announcement:
Discover the Heroes of Gaming
Posted by Jigsaw on 25 July 2008 at 9:33 pm 6 views“They came from all over the world.
They are men and women who have immortalized themselves in the annals of history. They always walk with a purpose and they will never back down from a challenge. Courage is their shield and Passion is their weapon. They are mavens, leaders, legends… they are heroes.”Level Up is proud to announce the launch of www.gameheroes.ph, a fully interactive website that aims to elevate gaming into e-sports and to turn gamers into cyber athletes. In this new website, we recognize and pay tribute to the giants of our community who have achieved major victories or reputations in their gaming career. Every week, new heroes will be unveiled.
If you believe you have what it takes to become a Game Hero, then make yourself heard in the official Game Hero Forums. Our Community Managers will contact you through the forums via private message to set-up an interview to confirm your achievements. Note that it doesn’t necessarily have to be winning numerous tournaments – as long as you have contributed something big to the community, then you deserve to be called a Game Hero.

Great site. I love the design although the flash movies are a bit pixelated. This is an awesome project. It’s about time those guys who has contributed a lot to the gaming community be recognized. Good luck to you all!

@Spy
Main GM ng GOONZ sa Baldur Server
@Wauks
wala po ba yung video ng regionals day 2?
July 26th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
gwapo ni master diwa sa pic hehe…
July 26th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
What a poor initial lineup for so-called “game heroes”. If anything those two guys there are nothing but attention whores in RB and blogs. The girl is there kasi biological na babae siya LOLZ… what a rarity no? Like Sunnies [1] :D
July 27th, 2008 at 12:00 am
sir wauks, bakit ikaw wala ka sa gaming legends? activist player turned brand manager? :P
no bad meanings implied, just wondered bakit nga ba wala kayo eh mas super sikat kayo.. ;D
July 27th, 2008 at 12:02 am
It’s professionally unethical because Wauks is still with Level Up. However, I do agree that Carlo deserves to be there too. :D
July 27th, 2008 at 2:29 am
IMO host some lan tournaments here and there, improve your commentating during live events(commentator/s at recent pRO lan tourney sucked), provide live stream for audiences throughout the philippines(hindi ganun kahirap yan gaya ng iniisip nyo).
And I also agree with World of Elegance, very poor lineup for the so called “heroes”. I suggest i-feature nyo yung talagang “skilled” players.
Hindi yung ‘well-known-but-not-so-skilled-gamers’.
Two cents
July 27th, 2008 at 2:31 am
I’d give my thumbs up for wauks. Perhaps we can ask the Level Up people to make an exception for his case? He deserves to be there.
Very honored to be among these people.
July 27th, 2008 at 8:25 am
oonga dpt andun si wauks (sipsip mode) haha

July 27th, 2008 at 10:34 am
remember yung Gamer of the Year na hindi natuloy? dapat ganun.
July 27th, 2008 at 11:37 am
July 27th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
July 27th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Puro taga-Baldur
LOLZ
I don’t see “Yralyn” there, now do we?
Why not ask Supremacy of Tyr kung ILAN NA ang nagawa nilang Godly Items? Or other servers for that matter?
Let’s just stop this stupid idea of parading obese players from Baldur as “heroes” please and just move on with other marketing ideas. Besides, the REAL HEROES from Chaos and other servers have quit a long time ago already and do not want to have anything to do with LU or Ragnarok Online.
July 27th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
July 28th, 2008 at 11:25 am
July 28th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
Since may pa 2 cents 2 cents pang nalalaman ang iba dito, might as well give mine, gawin na nating singkwenta para pang dagdag pasahe. I’m in no position to judge the current line up that they have on the site. But for those who think that others “more deserving” players should be featured there, then I suggest that you head on to the forums and nominate your candidate.
July 28th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
I agree w/ kittypie
We need REAL achievers!
July 28th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Kaya nga GAMEHEROES eh.. tapos IRL achievement ang hinahanap nyo (although such is a PLUS). Isn’t Master Diwa an achiever? I think he is. So what qualifies as a “gamehero” for you guys anyway?
@World of Elegance:
Those guides are widely used.. It seems you label those people attention whores.. They cared to share what they know so what’s the problem? It was useful for a lot of gamers and I think that scores a point.
Godly items. They don’t (or shouldn’t) merit hero status, but I think the point there is pioneering, and dedication, not the mere acquisition of the godly items.
Your post is so bitter I can only ask: inggit ka ba? gawa ka rin ng guide mo.. ^_^ Why don’t you post your candidates for “game heroes” if you really think the initial list is “undeserving”?
But I think we both agree that Yralyn deserves mention..
July 29th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
[...] was reading some of the comments on the Game Heroes and one of the most frequent questions is how will it help the campaign to turn gaming in to [...]
July 29th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Haha, no of course hindi ako inggit :D Why would I? I can make my own website glorifying myself if I want to :D
Perhaps the only reason why I felt negative about the initial lineup is that I’ve known so many great players over the years who have achieved much more yet will never get mentioned because they simply have faded away into history. Names like Sicorro, -=Zen=, the 4 original Shadowmaidens (including a certain Game Master who likes to wear a Boys Cap), the Blacksmith Piont people, SoldierSkeleton and other members of the first dominant PVP guild, Revelations; the first MVP guild, MVP Hunters; SLUGGER the prototypical pure battle blacksmith that would set the standard for years to come, PrincessKate the first OVERPRICER (hahah eto kilala ni Waukeen at ng ibang forgers ito!)
Kayo, ano naalala niyo? Donita-Ligaya? LOLZ napakarecent niyan ah!
When you take a look at their accomplishments and the legacy they left on the game, walang sinabi yang tatlong taba na yan na porque nagsulat na commonsense na “guide” or porque di “daw” nag-bot kahit kailan (talaga lang ha), sila pa nauna ilagay. Hay nako, kung ganyan na standards ng selection committee I might as well make a “leveling a novice from Lvl. 1-10″ guide para maging “heroine” nako :D
BTW wag natin isali yung IRL achievements dito. “GAME” heroes nga eh. Tooting your horn at some competition is not related to your gaming activities.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:03 am
@irl achievements
it doesnt mean naman na kailangang may napanalunan kang prize or something. pwede mong isulat na “proud father of 10″ (example lang yan), or parang “graduated high school while maintaining the top 100th spot of the chorva rank” (example ulit). pwede rin yung mga nakapag contribute sa LU dun sa mga artworks nila (used in loading screens, etc), organized a grand EB for some pRO server..
masyadong common kasi kung in-game lang, napakadami dyan (where is yralyn btw?) na nakagawa ng God Item, game guide whatever.
ang game hero kasi para sa akin ay yung parang someone to look up to, hindi lang sa pag-aadik sa paglaro kundi sa pagpapabuti nito at sa pagiging magandang halimbawa sa nakararami (yung good ha).. pasensya na kayo kung ganyan ang pananaw ko.
@nomination
maybe i will. di pa ko registered e XD. besides, i tried to nominate one nung GotY, kinancel nga lang nila :)) sana wag na maulit.
July 30th, 2008 at 7:28 am
medyo tama si world of elegance..
example… Shadowmaidens.. (I’m not from chaos.. so I’m not being biased..)
Shadowmaidens have revolutionized the roles of women in ONLINE GAMING.
tama din si kittypie.. a gamehero is someone we can all look up to..
July 30th, 2008 at 7:42 am
joel on July 28th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
I agree w/ kittypie.. We need REAL achievers!
(Referring to kittypie’s 1st line…)
Awts on July 28th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Kaya nga GAMEHEROES eh.. tapos IRL achievement ang hinahanap nyo
sbi ko real hindi IRL..
July 30th, 2008 at 11:23 am
July 30th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
and the list goes on.. pero legend status dapat sila.. kasi forever nang naka-ukit sa pRO history ang mga pangalang yan.
@Joel: If you’ll backtrack a lil bit, you’ll see that IRL was indeed stated.. I can distinguish “in real life” from “REAL” as much as you do. :)
I was replying to another post, not yours. Sorry if I didn’t address my reply properly.
Of course, real achievers.. but don’t you think the initial list are achievers already? I think they’ve had considerable impact/influence to game already..
But anyway, this is just the beginning, ang more “HEROES” will be added later on.. So don’t feel bad about not seeing those you feel are more deserving. They’ll get there eventually. (hopefully).
July 30th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
These people are here on the list because they not only played the game; they revolutionized it to the point that they stayed and supported it until now…
@WOE
The people that you mentioned were also Pioneers, granted. But they are the ones who chose to fade away into the history of the once glorious times. The people stated on the list here are the ones who chose to stay and continue their legacy as a player…
I don’t really dis-agree with your statements because I also knew Sicorro personally back then; he’s a great guy who helps other players about tips and other advices that all players sought out back then when we were all noobs… The name Sicorro still stays within the hearts of every beta player here I assure you; even if he left the game at only level 96, he still seems stronger than any other Assassins that I know… SinX even…
Now that’s a lasting impression…
But given the fact the we are nearing the kalends of the game that we used to love (though personally I’m still loving it…) What we honor here are again the one’s who chose to continue their legacy… You are right on your opinions of course; but I also do agree that the people listed here also deserve to be included in the history of online gaming…
Just be thankful and be happy that you were also once a part of that history to be able to share your part of it now…
July 30th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
sorry but I didn’t understand this part
“I think they’ve had considerable impact/influence to game already.”???
yes, you may say that they are achievers.. Though, I’m not saying that they don’t deserve to be called as Game Heroes.. The point is, we want someone who really made a huge impact in pRO.. An accomplishment which is superior than the typical achievement of those three..
joel on July 30th, 2008 at 7:28 am
“…The shadowmaidens have revolutionized the roles of women in ONLINE GAMING…”
July 30th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
Just nominate people you know and stop whining about the current roster. The more heroes, the better (especially now that pRO is on the decline).
July 30th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
@ Joel: Then I guess the next ones to be inserted have to live up that. I think there will be lots of gamers who will be included here, the bar doesn’t have to be so high.. But then you are right.. these are “Game Heroes” and they better live up to it. :)
Are the GH forums accessible only to registered users? I don’t seem to find much talk when I browsed the site.
August 1st, 2008 at 4:29 pm
i think bickerring about who gets to become glorified will get us nowhere, but how do we really determine who deserves it more and who to put up there first?, maybe a more detailed selection process should be made for this to avoid people contesting others qualifiaction. im sure those guys posted as game heroes did much to contribute to the game as well as those mentioned here but were not selected, but these are very popular players that have many friends, how about underrated people which made a big impact on other players not through guides or dominating something or making item items ans such, people who work behind the all that glamour and attention, im indeed pointing at someone whose name i shall withold for the reason i have mentioned it many times here under another name but no one paid any attention to it. (SOB) anyway why not include people that helps other players level up, sacrificing their own game time and effort for the benfits of others, non complaining of how tiring it is or how long it may take. you can find these people at GH, ask around who those people are. in my book they are the real heroes, people who care more for others than themselves
