This is an interesting development. Blizzard has officially announced World of Warcraft the movie and they also said that Spiderman director Sam Raimi will be at the helm of their first live-action venture. Actually Blizzard has been talking about this movie as early as 2007. Supposedly it has a budget of more than $100 million USD. Based on their press release, the plot will be set before the World of Warcraft events in-game. That means we won’t see Arthas, Illidan, or even Thrall.
Makes you wonder what kind of story they’ll focus on. Maybe it will be about Medivh or how the demons attacked the world before and they were fended off by the Night Elves. Anyway, only the producers and writers know the answer to that question at this time. Here are some links about the movie you might want to visit:

sir wauks, i think it would be set right after Warcraft 3, before WoW. Meaning we might not be able to see illidan and the others but i dont think it would be about medivh and the first war. i think ive watched a teaser trailer of this before and it shows the night elves and their new capital teldrassil. or was it nordrassil idk i forgots na. ^^

and AFAIK, the story will revolve in alliance’s perspective (wohoo! for the alliance!)
