Over the next few days I’ll be posting about all the gadgets that I personally own. It will be basically a product review based on my personal experience. To start things off, I’ll discuss one of the latest gadgets I bought for myself – the 3rd generation iPod Nano. I’ve been looking for a new iPod eversince I sold my shuffle and I really missed listening to my songs while driving to work. During a long sunday, I decided to go window shopping with my girlfriend and my sister in Fort Bonifacio High Street. We passed by iStudio and I was really captivated by the 3rd Gen iPod Black Nano!

The design was so sleek and sexy. Initially I was planning on just buying the 4GB silver model for around 8,000+. However, I’ve always had a weakness for black and I found myself forking over close to 11,000 for the 8GB black model. Argh. Woe is me, hehe. I’ve yet to maximize the iPod since I really don’t use it for videos since it’s kinda irritating to watch on such a small screen. I have no complaints about it though – it’s so easy to use and fun to configure.
Here’s the official product description which I got from Apple:
Overview
An anodized aluminum top and polished stainless steel back. Six eye-catching colors. A larger, brighter display with the most pixels per inch of any Apple display, ever. iPod nano stirs up visual effects from the outside in.And it’ll wow you for hours. Play up to 5 hours of video or up to 24 hours of audio on a single charge.1 All that staying power and a wafer-thin, 6.5-mm profile makes iPod nano one small big attraction.
My only complaint with Apple products is that they are so damn expensive. I’m not just talking about the actual iPod – even the accessories cost an arm and a leg if you get it from official Apple resellers. What’s even more annoying is that they sell the plastic LCD screen guard separate and it will cost you around 500-1000 bucks.

One accessory which I really love using is the iTrip. It’s basically an FM transmitter for your iPod so you can just listen using the radio in your car while driving. You just attach it to the bottom of your iPod and set the FM frequency (channel) you want. After that, tune in to that frequency and listen to all the songs you have in your iPod. The only bad thing here is that it costs 2,800 bucks. If you’re low on budget and you’re willing to risk your iPod, you can buy generic FM transmitters in Greenhills for around 500-1,000. Word of caution though – it may end up screwing your iPod.
So to sum it all up – the iPod Nano 3rd Gen is nice to have but not really a necessity. If you have spare cash then go buy. If you’re on a tight budget, you can easily get lower end models of the iPod or maybe go for other brands of MP3 players that are more affordable.
Like what my good friend and business partner said – Apple products are really just good because they go well with your coffee when you’re in Starbucks. (LOL)

Chief, you got this for 11k? That was quite expensive ah :p Try visiting http://www.philmug.ph and check out the private importers over there, for future purchases. They sell really cheap, and honest as well – they get their stuff directly from the Apple Store in Hong Kong and bring ‘em over here.
I was able to get a (Product) Red iPod Nano for just 9000, giving it to my GF for her birthday
