Urgent: Server Technical Problems

Good day guys. I usually post the weekly update here which contains all of our promotions, item mall additions, and everything else under the sun related to Ragnarok Online. However, I’ll postpone that post for tomorrow and focus on the most pressing problem at hand - the recent waves of bugs and technical glitches we’ve been experiencing in siege. I know this is a very hot issue right now so I think it’s best that we openly discuss this today.

GUILD/PARTY BUGS
This was the most talked about issue in the Community Concerns post which I recently did a few days ago. Basically the guild disappears and there are various bugs in guild-related skills like Emergency Call. This happens frequently during siege time and has a direct impact on the Agit Lord Scoring.

SERVER DISCONNECTIONS
This is pretty self-explanatory. Users get disconnected randomly during siege and while this can be attributed to your ISP, we are still taking a look at this problem as well if it is based on the application or our hardware.

Those two are the most pressing issues that affects the players and Level Up. We have already escalated this to the upper management of Gravity since this really has an impact on RWC ‘08 and we are pulling all the stops to get this fixed at the soonest possible time. We’ve already ruled out hardware issues and we’re looking into the actual programming since this started when Nameless was patched to commercial servers. I cannot promise you guys dates or any concrete timelines today because I don’t want to disappoint you if it doesn’t happen. The best we can do is to really push Gravity to investigate and implement the fix.

To the players affected in Valkyrie, Baldur, and Tyr, I sincerely apologize. If I had the power to fix this, I would devote all of my time in trying to resolve it. These are times that I wish I was a game developer so I can just focus on improving and fixing the product. Believe me guys, I’m also getting tired of going public with apologies. It’s getting really frustrating and tiring to keep on addressing the same issues over and over again and not having the capability to fix it myself. I can relate with all of you because like you I’ve been an active and competitive Ragnarok player (for more than 3 years) before I joined netGames which was eventually merged to Level Up.

I hope you guys understand where I’m coming from and appreciate my blatant honesty about this issue (hehehe).

If there are any developments, the Ragnarok team will post an official announcement on the website. For now, rest assured that the people in charge of Level Up and Gravity are already looking into the problem.

  2. And it is also tiring to see OT comments on this blog ranting about connectivity issues and problems. They (LU) are doing their best to fix this things although for me i assure no hope in fixing this problems as they plague it for years, sorry Wauks but wala na talagang pagbabago sa service ng LU except for the money making strategies for us cunsumers but for any company dyan lang naman talaga ang bagsak nyan eh, its all about MONEY. :)

  4. About sa server disconnection, naglalakad ka sa isang map all of a sudden bigla kang ma-ddc.
    Do you think sa connection namin un,and 1 thing nangyayari lang yun during siege time pagkatapos
    ng siege smooth na naman ung pag pp-lvl.

    About sa guild bug & delay correct me if i’m wrong,nangyari lang ata toh ng lumabas ung server na
    VALKYRIE,at ung bigla na lang mag eec tapos babagsak ka sa kung saan saan.

    Tagal na ng RO pero sa tingin ko mas lalong nagiging worse service nyo to think na 2k more or less
    na lang population ng BALDUR.

  6. madali lng solusyon dyan, wauks, delete nyo ung mga accounts ng mga botters, tulad ng may ari ng waukeen na bots ang dami nun, khit saan lugar nandun ung mga rogue na un, sa totoo lng mga botters lng nakinabang sa 5x, luge kmi mga manual players, no bots = minimize server lag or error, o baka wla na, just making a point lng.

  10. even freya is suffering heavy lags…imagine going on siege tapos character mo after 30 secs pa nagrerespond.. in other cases, dc kami after going through a portal and when kami ma ecall…most of the time timegap rin inaabot namin T_T

    Whats the OS/distro of those servers? Hmm, also, maybe it would be better to move each one of them in a pretty good host that can handle heavy load, it costs alot though, but I think it will fix the problems of disconnection.

    Is there any estimated time when the servers will be up today?

    CORRECT ka sir wauks….jan /no1 para magawan talaga nila ng solution sa lahat ng BUGS problems sa RO … nahirapan lang magpalvl kc wala party , natatawa me pag meron me nakita na mga players sabi nila sa kaparty nila ” Priest: dun tau sa luina para gumana ung party, Wizard: tara ” heheheh lagi ganyan nakikita ko sa aldebaran hehe.. kahit pano napa 99 ko wiz ko kagabi kahit napagastos ako ng pots naubus nga zeny ng alche, kc nag solo ako “wiz pa ” at kahit pano na aka insured ako .

  21. Sir, pano po yung bugs sa mailbox? Don’t tell me mag rollback na naman. Sayang naman, napajob 50 ko na merchant ko at alchemist na siya. Sa delay din po ata yun kaya kahit nasa loob ka na ng payon cave, saka lang bumubukas yung mailbox window. Bakit nga po pala inalis yung mailbox? Meron din bang ibang players na same ang problem kagaya sakin? Di pa rin nababalik yung hasty sandals ko. /sob Lagi pa akong dc at lag. Sayang tuloy bili ko sa mga mercenary scrolls kasi pag tingin mo na lang deads na sa lag yung mercenary.

  25. Yes D/C, timegaps, are due to the patch. Same thing happened on iRO. Still not fixed yet.

    obsolete na ang hardware its about time na magupgrade na. Sa mga private servers swabeng swabe ang siege walang lag. nakakalungkot isipin kung san pa ang legal and may supporta ang gravity dun pa ang lag n sobrang dami bugs. un private server la support sa gravity pero ang ganda ng pagpapatakbo nila.

    konting investment lang tutal 74 million profit for the first quarter alone. baka next first quarter la na naglalaro ng ro.

  28. minsan during siege time naiipit ung mga chars na inde accessible(walang portal palabas) kahit mag char select andun pa rin until mag ecall ung gm ng guild. i experienced it twice naipit ako kasama ng kaguild ko sa isang map sa loob ng prontera church na walang portal.

    This started before the Nameless Patch (Altough it was actually worse BEFORE the patch).

    I am a developer (not a game dev, mind), and I do know that my ISP is NOT the problem. This because the disconnections happen on certain maps and at certain times only, which is inside the Agits, and during Siege Time - this happens when the character is even alone and/or just moving inside the agit. Its very agitating (heh) since a disconnection insde the agit means I’m back on the guild’s save point.

    Hope that helps, Please resolve the issues asap.. I’m from Valkyrie btw..

    Sana maayos na to. Nakakatamad na maglaro pag laging ganito. Seriously, tinamad ako mag-siege kagabi dahil sa tindi ng lag at bugs. Late na nga ako nag-online e (bandang 8:20). Tapos pagkapasok na pagkapasok ko sa game, ramdam na ramdam ko agad ang lag kahit nsa savepoint pa lang ako (aldebaran). So ayun, nagbago ang isip ko at itinago ko na lang uli ang equips ko sa storage. (Baldur server ako) Sana wag na humantong sa sitwasyon na pati ang ibang mga players na tulad kong matagal nang naglalaro (at tiniis ang mga bugs at errors in the past) ay mag-quit na rin. Sobrang baba na kasi ng population ng servers. Even in baldur, during non-siege hours umaabot ng 1.4k na lang ang population.
    Cguro nga hindi to fault ng LUG this time (Since nagsimula lang naman to uli nung nilagay ang Nameless). Pero kahit na sino pa ang may mali, LUG pa rin ang masisisi at maaapektuhan pag may ganitong problema so sana gawin nyo ang lahat ng makakaya nyo para makumbinsi ang gravity na ayusin to ASAP.

  34. Yup, I don’t think sa ISP yung problem, as I have experienced last night, pag nasa savepoint (Morroc) at sa agit, dun lang may Lag and Chat Delays. Pero nung nag online ako ng ibang char na nasa Pront and lumabas sa map ng Morroc, wala namang delay. Although it was frustrating na nung pumunta ako sa agit nag lag na ng sobra to the point na hindi na ako makaconnect ulit.

    OT question lang, since cancelled ang scoring, will the Phase 1 ng AL be extended?

    Well I have got something against ROK pts that EXPIRE…

    I have got 13k rok pts which i was intending to use as soon as I found something to use them on but, there were no warnings on the My Level Up site that my ROK pts would expire except ofcourse the one week notice. I mean come on, to force us to use up ALL and i mean ALL of our ROK pts is simply not proper. ROK pts should not have any expiration in my opinion, it should be used freely like money. I used real money on a fake money that expired LOL.

    Well I heard from the Cust Care Rep was “Ganun po talaga eh, wala po tayong magagawa, Sorry po!”

    nung before siege ng after ma-release ung nameless patch (meaning Thursday)..
    balita ko kaya nag down bigla server eh… nag brown-out sa LUG..
    kaya i conclude na nacra system nyo dahil dun..
    in my opinion lng naman..

  50. kakahiya sa RWC2008 ganito ang sakit ng pRO sa pinas, pano pag sa nagstart na talaga ang RWC meron delay sa guild party ,,, ewan ko na lang kung ano masasabi ng ibang bansa sa pRO sa pinas………i forward ASAP sa GRAVITY ang mga MEGA BUGS na eto, dapat ang gravity mag supply ng equipment para sa LUG kung kelangan ng UPGRADING sa pRO host pa naman sa RWC2008, baka pag dating ng RWC wala representative ang pRO kc nag quit na lahat ng players. mahirap mag invite ng player na nag quit sa RO kc kung same parin ang kanilang naransan sa una pa…. and pano pala kung na aprove ang merge sa india tapos gani2 ang kanilang mararanasan sa pRO di ba kakahiya nmn , sabihin ntin sakit ng indiaRO ang bots dun pero wala cla nakagrabeng bugs tulad d2 satin tapos merge cla , what will they say to pRO???

    AEGIS is Windows Server software used along with Microsoft SQL Server by Gravity Corporation to run the official Ragnarok Online game servers. That’s from wikipedia. You can find a bit more detail there. Trying to add some useful info, last time I checked in bRO they had 20 map servers for one subscription server and 14 map servers for one free server. There is also some more servers for other purposes (e.g. login), but most machines used relate to map servers as above.

    Being guildless in the middle of siege makes my memory go back to the end of 2005 in bRO, when that used to happen. It’s a sad thing Gravity will go through the same (already solved) mistakes.

    Baldur Server Siege Bugs:

    1. Ecall Bug… either delayed masummon mga members, or members get summoned to weird places… COME ON we got stuck in the GM room, knight guild wall, etc!!!! Thank god for butterfly wings!!! /e1

    2. Sometimes get disconnected after EC

    3. Super lag in agits but not in towns

    4. Guild chat, party chat, and PM delays

    5. When guildmates get EC or go into a WOE portal we have NO guild including our GM!!! /e1

    Non- Siege related:
    1. Character locked items: black bunny band, deviling hat, and gold tiara –> how long will this problem persist???!!!! /e1

    Wild Card Nomination:
    1. After topping up in MyLUG, I log into the wild card page… I dont have any voting points…I continuously refrshed d page and relogged for 30 mins after topping up but still nothing… so nagEXPIRE without giving me the chance to vote??? This is for all 3 accounts that I loaded since last week. /sob –> Well at least today I was finally able to vote!!! TALK ABOUT DELAY!!!

    Please fix the problem. Nakakawalang gana magRO if ganito. /sob

    Kung pwede lang kung di nyo pa magawan ng solutions yung malalaking problems ayusin nyo muna yung maliliit NOKIA PHONES and yung item na FILE FOLDER!!!!!!! AMF paki naman waukeen ng maka transcend na at matapos ang quest ng nameless /swt yung x3 di nyo p extend wala naman nagnyari di rin nagkakuha ng exp na matino

Chief regarding sa Cursed of Gaeblog quest yung item that you will get from the NPC quest prof [FILE FOLDER] in exchange for the pile of books is currently item lock [ cant be deal, place in kafra, trade or sell ] paki ayus naman yung permission nito, nung nag quest kasi ako di ko muna tinapos then yung file folder nilagay ko sa character ko na isa since madaming laman yung kafra ko, now di ko matapos yung quest kasi di makuha yung item di tuloy makapag nameless. The worst part is yung File Folder weight 1 sya kaya yung may hawak di maka transcend, I dont think dapat maging item lock to wala naman ata sa logic. Paki lang po TY!

    like delay party, delay chat etc. At sir wauks may tanong lang me regarding sa mercenary ,bakit pagclick ko ng status ng mercenary “RAGNAROK OLNINE NOT RESPONDING” wala nag HANG na ung RO pero ,dati di nmn ganyan yan eh, na-rirightclick ko nga dati, tapos na gagamit ko ung skills nya ewan ko bat nag ganyan ung mercenary ngaun.. paki tanong din po sa GRAVITY.. And di ba po mag kakaroon parang maintenance yan sa May 31, bago po ipalaro sa mga players like me ^^.. test muna nila try nila mag chat and party even try to make guild kung meron pa pong delay or lags.. suggest ko lang po ^^ ..

  85. Seems like Gravity is having a really hard time.

    Two weeks ago, Brazil Ragnarok Online (hosted by Level Up Games) got a terrible bug where almost 80% of active accounts on the most populated server (monthly-fee based server) got their zenny totally wipped. Brazil Level Up Games said it was Gravity’s fault because of a new Trial Account and Novice Land Patch, about max level capped at 30, maximum zenny capped at 50.000z, account bound starter items and a few more stuff.

    I wonder why do we a have a Sakray Test Server on every Official Ragnarok Server, doesn’t they actually stress-test the new stuff before install them at commercial servers???
