Updated PC Specs for Starcraft 2
Leord, a reader of this blog pointed out that the PC Specs posted in Kotaku which I republished here were denied by Blizzard’s Stefanie Gwinner. I checked Leord’s tip and visited another site which contained a pretty much detailed analysis of the PC requirements of Starcraft 2 based on the game development engine used. It’s pretty much technical and kinda hard to understand but it does make a lot of sense. What it doesn’t explain though is the online part of Starcraft 2 - and that’s something that Blizzard has been really keeping under wraps if you check all the articles posted about it on the net. Anyway, check out the new updated PC Requirements for Starcraft 2 after the jump.

Just like what I said in my previous post, a lot of home users with cash to burn can probably afford this gaming rig. However, the Philippine market is mostly made up of cafe gamers, and we all know that majority of internet cafes here have 256mb - 5125mb Memory, which is a far cry from the minimum requirement of 1GB RAM. That’s probably choppy performance already.
This should send out a clear signal to all internet cafes out there - UPGRADE. If you don’t you will get left out on the action when games like Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 enters the market and millions of Filipino gamers decide to troop to cafes to play these new games. Invest while you can because these games mean good business for you - and higher PC specs means better gaming for gamers.

I’ll call PC Express later today and ask how much it would cost to assemble PC’s with the specs listed above. However, if anyone of you have an idea already, please post a comment and just link your source. :)

no need wauks, i have exactly the recommended specs and it cost me 20k. but then again to play at max settings you have to have twice the recommended.
but so true, majority of cafes can’t handle this game if it came out now. investment na rin naman ang bagong hardware eh.

Pinakamura ang PCHUB sa Gilmore but the problem is they are not accepting cards :P Only cash.
August 27th, 2008 at 9:44 am
@Jerome: Are you serious? 10,000? So with the LCD monitor it would still cost less than 20k? That’s mind-boggling. @_@

Here’s the link regarding dun sa performance ng HD3200 http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-780g-chipset,1785-10.html . Too bad cash lang inaaccept nila T_T.

BTW, if you have any questions on your rigs and want an analyse about if you can handle SC2 (and D3), the author of that article has his own little tech forum here:

Thanks for the credit btw! =D

Grabe 8600GT video card is already in the high end range!! That alone can cost you almost 10k pesos nowadays!
But of course, upgrading pc is inevitable….I’m guessing about 30k should give you ample budget to have a really cool rig. FYI, buying a high end pc is just one part of the problem…panget naman kung maglalaro ka pa sa 15″ CRT monitor at ordinary speakers! Those peripherals should also be considered in your budget to get the most out of games like SC2
August 28th, 2008 at 8:12 am
8600 gt? that’s only in the mid end range. high end range yung 8800gt. kahit yung 8800 gt nasa 7k nalang yan.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:16 am
August 28th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
reikoku is right nsa mid range nlng ang gt 8600. anyway is it ddr2 or ddr3?? amf
may mga 9800 na dud that will cost you around 10k and up.
maxado nmn kapag sli rig p ang gamet mo for SC2.
SLI system if merely for rendering 3d’s, designs and etc.
August 28th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
And we have already Geforce 9500.
September 6th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
September 7th, 2008 at 12:00 am
