U Mobile: Free 350 Load Monthly
Got this news from Mike Abundo. U Mobile is the newest player in the cellphone industry of the Philippines. They’re actually a subsidiary of SMART so I’m not really sure if we can consider them a new challenger, hehe. Anyway, what’s different about U Mobile? Well… you get up to free 350 PHP worth of load monthly. Yes, you read that right. How do they make money, you ask? Well, you’ll have to get more than 10 SMS ads everyday. Basically the advertisers are the ones paying for your text messages and calls to your friends and family.
It’s really simple actually. For every ad you recieve, you’ll get bonus 50 cents worth of load. That means that if you want to get the monthly PHP 350 free load, you’ll have to get 23 ads a day. If you’re “masipag” enough to read and delete 23 ad messages daily, then this service is for you, hehe.
Personally, 23 ads daily is too much for me. I won’t even bother thinking about switching unless they reduce that to a more manageable number.

Whoever thought up U Mobile’s reward scheme must think young Filipinos’ time is worthless. Four ads a day is all I will tolerate from them.
