The PLDT MyDSL Nightmare CONTINUES

I just got off the phone with the customer support agent for PLDT MyDSL about how they are ripping me off with giving me just a speed of 300KBPS for a plan that’s supposed to give me 2MBPS. OMGWTFBBQ PART 1 – the first agent tells me that I pressed the wrong dials and instructed me to call again and input the following numbers after the automated operator of 171 answers: 1, 2, 3, 2. I did what he said and OMG it’s AN ETERNAL LOOP. Talk about giving the wrong advice! But wait… there’s more. Read after the break.

After figuring out the right options to press, I finally got the right agent who could answer my queries. According to the CS Agent, I subscribed for a PLDT MyDSL Plan 999 and not PLDT MyDSL Plan 1995. This infuriated me to the deepest levels of Gehenna. I asked her how can she explain the receipt I had showing that the plan was 1995? How can she explain that the sales lady who sold me this plan (in PLDT MyDSL SM North) passed my application with the Plan 1995 checked and not Plan 999?

Out of frustration, I told the lady that I want to terminate the subscription and I’ll just move to Globe. Apparently they want to charge me around P3000 pre-termination fee. That’s just ridiculous! I wait for 2 months for them to install and when they do its the wrong plan and I have to pay a pre-termination fee!? OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!

This is arguably the worst customer experience I’ve ever had in all 27 years of my life.

If only SKY or Bayantel was present in my area I’d go for them in a heartbeat.

grabe nman pldt.. they should just not accept other applications if they cant provide the promised service.. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED.. Parang mas malufet pa ang lokohan sa pldt kesa sa greenhills eh..

  2. EarlZ says:

PLDT can be very unfair, especially those plan 990 or 999 that have “boosted / tweaked” internet speeds of 6.8mbps, I hope you got this crap sorted out, and moving to Globe would only make matters worse as we all know Globe only rents its bandwidth from PLDT.

  3. arsikun says:

Hahahah kakahiya PLDT!!!! Nyay pldt pa nmn aq. XD
Try mo mag file ng complaint wauks. Sila ang takutin mo!

  4. iseedeadpeople says:

LUG and PLDT… what’s the difference? lol

  5. LantisGaius says:

At least ang LUG walang termination fee :D

  6. darkseed says:

LUG and PLDT are both owned by maximum earning by skimping on everything ceo MR. pangilinan.

  7. Whistler says:

Hmmm… my house is a veteran PLDT DSL subscription (2004). Dati everyday sobrang random disconnection sprees – ranging from minutes to hours to days. wala pa wireless noon kaya siya lang ang choice namin and we lived with it. then one day, it disconnected for days, then… poof… it became stable. now it very rarely disconnects…

dami kasing factors eh… yung base station, linya papunta form base to house… personel…

    well, milage can vary…

as for the customer service, well… welcome to our hell-world
(and the contract has a lock-in period written somewhere in the fine print), which explains the termination fee)

  8. bRO player says:

Note to self: “Customer Support is important. People terminate subscription when frustrated.”

Exercise: Repeat the above 500 times each day.

Optional Exercise: Create a new ticket on LU Customer Support each time the obligatory exercise seems silly.

  9. Whistler says:

    pero 200Kbps (1Kb/sec = 8.8Kbps so around 25Kb/sec download)…. awts… old school modem-ish speed nga… T_T

if memory serves me correct, the speed of our connection during 2004 was 40-50Kb/sec (plus disconnections) now we have 70-140Kb downloads on torrent

punta ka na lang main office ng pldt, ipakita mo resibo para wala sila masabi!!

  10. Amp says:

scammer pldt! amp! kasohan mo na yan sir wauks! haha! ipa-imbestigador please! weeee!

  11. fr0stbyte says:

First thing you should do is sugurin ang office nang PLDT. I mean, what the f#<$ is wrong with them? You waited for months for the installation and after that you get 1/7 of the speed you paid for?! You’ve been ripped off! And I’d also like to argue with someone who posted a comment on the first part of your PLDT MyDSL Nightmare. If her arguement was true then it would be useless to offer myDSL packages of higher speeds with higher monthly fees when the guaranteed speed will never be given to the customer. Eh di sana nag plan 999 na lang si Sir Wauks. Though, I’d also like to say to you Sir Wauks: “We told you so.”

  12. Jaytee says:

If only the government would take laws on computers seriousy…

  13. arsikun says:

Sumbong mo kay lola techie waukz! Ang dali! Pisong sukli pde pa sa simbahan at makakabuti pa sa kaluluwa. Nuff said LOL

  14. jayzfoo says:

Crap! just reading this makes me all stressed out too! XD

  15. azzid says:

ipa-imbestigador na yan! harapang panloloko na yan!

  16. Lacerta says:

That happened to us once… what we did was we went to PLDT and complained there showed the receipt when the first lady we spoke too couldn’t help us we demanded that we see their boss and asked him to fix it now or we will sue them..

They fixed the problem in a blink then from then on no more problems..

That is the best way to solve your problem form since terminating the service will cost you as far as i know.

Just show them who’s boss and they will help you outright most of the times because they know that if you sue them for that error they will pay you tons of money for damages etc.

I’m kinda sure though that after you fix these initial problems things will work out fine for a long long long time since the problem is pldt itself made a mistake not your connection to them. ^_^ and besides you don’t really have any choice.. Globe is not a choice.. trust me when I say that if you already call this a nightmare then Globe will send you to the deepest tranches of hell because of all the connectivity issues that just happens for no particular reason at all and the sucky customer service that seems to want to beat pldt for the suckiest customer service ever.. just errr…. tiyaga lang kuya wauks ^_^ maayos mo rin yan :D

    frostbyte it’s called a marketing strategy…
since they explicity told you that buying this plan will allow you to have speeds to up to X mbps but also told you in their faqs (http://www.myworldmydsl.com/faq.aspx) that there are several factors that will affect the speed of your dsl.. so wala silang kasalanan kung di mo maabot yung 2 mbps mo dahil sa lugar mo.. pag napansin mo na di aabot the least you can do is ibahin yung plan mo sa plan na ankop sa lugar mo or to discontinue their service…

this is true believe me… it’s a well employed marketing strategy that uses the ignorance of the users ^_^ and you can’t sue them for it since they actually told you everything you need to know to work these things out.. only normal people wouldn’t think about it..

I only know these things because I am studying CCNA3 and finished CCNA1-2 (Cisco Certified Network Associate)

  18. Wauks says:

Tama… ipapa drop kick ko na lang kay lola techie. Hahaha!

Will drop by the office of PLDT (service center) this weekend and see how they can fix this.

  19. fr0stbyte says:

    @Lacerta
Thanks for the enlightenment Lacerta. I did read the FAQ dati and it seemed fishy. Pero wouldn’t you agree that it isn’t fair for the the consumers?

  20. Lacerta says:

It’s meant to be that way as far as I know haha that’s why it is called a marketing strategy. Marketing strategies exist to give the companies more profit and most companies will cheat or will be unfair to their customers for profit^____^

That’s just like apple overpricing their products too much (if you research how much they spent on making their products and how much they sell their products in their market you would see that they get very very big profits) or microsoft joining with apple back then so they could “steal” the mac’s OS or levelup allowing bots to roam free in ragnarok so that people wouldn’t quit the game or Government Agencies working slowly intentionally so that you would have to bribe them so that you finish faster etc..

  21. bRO player says:

^– “or levelup allowing bots to roam free in ragnarok so that people wouldn’t quit the game”

I’m not a player of pRO, but 7 servers becoming 1 is a fact that doesn’t really agree with a good marketing strategy (profit), in my humble point of view…

  22. Lacerta says:

but we all know that the reason bots still exists is because of profit for LU! private servers usually don’t have bots.. 2000+ population private servers are usually filled with filipinos who don’t bot.. if private servers who dont hire people to maintain their server can kill off bots why cant LU? or Gravity?

    la lang hoho =P

  23. mikoy says:

  24. Wauks says:

With regards to pRO guys I can’t really give a comment since I’m not part of the RO Team anymore. My last project was RWC 2008.

  25. Wauks says:

By the way, speaking of Ragnarok Online, I found a really interesting video showcasing the 3rd job classes. Will post it in a bit.

  26. bRO player says:

Hey Wauks don’t take my previous comment as badmouthing you. But I seriously think that LU should see past bots (or any kind of cheating btw). Lacerta is correct. Bots also pay when on subscription based servers. We know that, you know that. But they put way more people off the game. That’s what I meant by 7 servers down to 1. That’s bad for honest players and that’s bad for your profit.

I have a couple of ideas that I shared with one LU representative here. I could extend them to you. Should I send an e-mail?

(note Lacerta: you’re wrong on one account… private servers have less bots because it’s less interesting to developers of bot programs, like making a virus to exploit linux instead of windows – also, if a bot appears, private servers don’t have to deal with legal rights, won’t be sued by users etc, so they can punish offenders without gathering any proof)

  27. Wauks says:

@bRO Player: You can e-mail it to me and I can forward it to the RO Team for review. :)

  28. Lacerta says:

well you know they don’t need to make bots for private servers because as far as I know there is only one bot program that need to be just configured for any server.. the only problem is the security that private servers place on their servers.. for example in all private servers I played on (I quit ragnarok since urdr started getting all those map errors then played on private servers then played ragnarok again when urdr merged with tyr then quit again because of intese lag then I played in private servers then I played again because of new chaos’ new subscription rates) have different npc that can catch bots that suddenly pop up while your playing and as far as I know this one of the biggest problem botters have on private servers because they get jailed because of this program.. although recently more players are getting around this security but it appears that the moment the server admin changes the script of the npc just a bit bots gets wiped out again.. So I don’t think it’s just because of those reasons but I guess the reason there is no intensive effort on protecting bots from those anti bots is also due to the reasons you said ^___^

As far as im concerned as long as Level Up! can at least keep the human:bot ratio 50:50 im already happy.. i mean cmon back at my urdr days there came a point in time that even when you login it’s as if youre playing an offline game because no one talks to you.. everyone are bots XD that’s so lame what’s the point in playing mmorpgs when everyone are robots.. and another reason I hate bots is because there are lots of people abusing bots.. i mean i wouldn’t care about the existance of bots if people are not deploying many boys in one area making an area nearly an impossible place for a normal person to levelup and I also wouldn’t care about the existence of bots if no bots kill steal…

  29. dChen says:

PLDT has some of the worst customer support agents.

  30. Epstein says:

I would get Bayantel too if it is available in our area. Most of my friends who live in QC is subscribed to Bayantel and the service is very good.

  34. groundz says:

Gosh, PLDT agents don’t care about their customers. They always hung up the phones once they realize that they’re dealing with difficult issue or customers.

I have been having intermittent connection on both my pldt dsl lines (different houses) for 3 weeks now and they could not fix it. I feel it’s a waste of time to call 171, that’s why I escalated this to VP’s by looking into their email addresses on the net.

  38. Jimmy says:

Well, I found this post of yours because I’m completely fed up with Globe, and was looking into PLDT. I’ve been fighting with Globe for 2 years in 2 different cities. I’m done. They are just complete bafoons. BUT, at least I’m not paying 2000 a month for their bafoonery. I’d go into all the details, but it would take me 2 hours to share the 2 year history of ridiculous service Globe has been providing me.

  39. Ayette says:

PLDT is one BIG NIGHTMARE for me as well. It was installed last June 2009 beginning with installation delays and problems so on and so forth in short since it was installed dami nang problema. I have Plan 1299 bundled with dsl. They installed it the wrong way since they didn’t install when we are around so we requested them to fix their mistake. They did but also delayed and the worst thing is they charged me for that service where in the first place it was their mistake. yesterday i was fed up and very disappointed I requested for a termination. The Billing Supervisors Wilfredo Gapuz and Clifford Ballesteros commited that when I pay the latest billing P1299 it will be done as soon as they received the payment. I told them if there will be additional charges; told me none. Today I called up to ffup the termination they told me that i need to bring the phone unit to their business center. @#^%@^#%^&@ what? I wasn’t told yesterday that i need to do that??? so I asked my helper to leave my baby daughter with our neighbor and go to the business office to surrender the unit. The business center didn’t take it they told my helper that she needs an authorization letter, my ID and a pre termination fee to terminate my subscription.@^*@#%@$^&$@ OMG! wala na akong matinong sagot at instructions sa kanila. I JUST WANNA BE PLDT FREE! I HATE PLDT!

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER: DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I REALLY REGRET MY SUBSCRIPTION AND THIS IS THE WORST DECISION I’VE EVER MADE!!!!!

  40. Ayette says:

at last i am FREE of worries and headache… yesterday I have our subscription TERMINATED (no pre-termination fee even though we had it only for 3 months)… i will now just apply for SUNTEL WIRELESS and SUNBROADBAND…

  41. Rennan says:

Anyone ever had any good thing to say about any ISP in Metro Manila?? I am a Globe plan 1995 subscriber. Internet is kinda good, most days almost 2mbps nman. Internet interruption is rare and short. M located in Makati area.

But the customer service 9198888 really really sucks. Can drive you mad and push you to the limits.

Anyone tried sky cable internet? I was actually looking to change with PLDT dsl, but after reading the posts here, m having serious second thoughts.

  42. macdoria says:

    Lacerta wrote:
“also told you in their faqs (http://www.myworldmydsl.com/faq.aspx) that there are several factors that will affect the speed of your dsl”

If you read the FAQs about speed, PLDT makes the whole world look so incompetent except themselves. Their advertised “up to” speed in their main page is what matters, not the FAQs, and there is not a single fine print in that page mentioning degraded speed due to some factors, and that is a form of false advertising.

If PLDT truly understands and cares about customer satisfaction, they must adjust their speed to overcome line losses and overheads and network congestion on a per customer basis. Techs must check the speed at the customer’s end and make adjustments at the exchange office end to make up for losses. If I’m only getting 80% of my 1 Mbps package at my end, then PLDT must adjust their end 1.25 Mbps to make up for the line loss.

Simple arithmetic PLDT does not understand! They’re just too greedy to even care.

  43. Cartbo! says:

okay naman yun sky cable internet kasi yun kasama ko sa work yun ang gamit nila and meron sila 6mbbps connection free for a month or a week(not sure) then babalik nila sa 1.2mbps yun normal subscription nila parang test lang yun 6mbps baka kasi magustuhan ng users…kaya lang dapat sky cable subscriber ka…Personally I’m a PLDT dsl user and my DL is just 300kbps pero okay lang ragnarok lang nman game ko at di ko trip yun mga new online games ngayon masyado complicated..

  44. sapphire5 says:

fyi according to the customer service rep, all services will get about 60%-80% of your plan… (lol wtf)

  45. kupao says:

OH CRAP! Sorry dude on what happened.
But switching to GLOBE will also make your life a living hell.
I availed their WIMAX package, that’s 1Mbps internet connection + landline. And damn, SUPER BAGAL. Pati yung landline, tapos pahirapan pa sa pagtawag sa hotline (which is simialr sa lahat). When finally I got through, and was talking to an agent, hindi kami magkaintindihan kasi “choppy” yung line.

  46. anone says:

  47. badtrip sa pldt my dsl says:

I used plan 1999 for about 5 years and its getting slower every year, sa umpisa ok naman, ngaun parang naka dial up ako, planning to switch to another one.

Anyone lives in ususan taguig city? Just want to know which is the best broadband in the area. I’d go for sky but its not available here.

  48. Banned from OL games Due to Disconnect says:

Damn, me and my brother suffered this stupid, Disconnections…
Were an avid OL players. Since last year like April or later. Our Internet when B****y, and i got banned from most OL games since disconnection is what we get.
We are subscribing to the pldt 999, and the speed is alright for this subscription but the connection is so faulty that we get DC’ed every 2-3 mins. and we usually just forget about it. Since me and my brother are kids, we can’t do anything.
What the bad thing is, they would connect us to the games at a good rate suddenly when the suspense starts, PLDT just DC’ed us with no guilt.. Technical error or Human Greed?
    Seems like its Choice 2.

  49. Ayette says:

    Dear Friends,

I have just read and signed the online petition:

    “A complaint to PLDT”

I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might
agree, too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider
