“The Philippines will be shocked.” -Barrera
Marco Antonio Barrera is all geared up for his rematch with Manny Pacquiao this weekend. According to an article posted on INQ, Barrera has taken this particular fight with Manny personally and has made all the preparations and training he could get his hands on so that he can take on the General Santos native at full power. Barrera goes on and explains that he has made a lot of sacrifices to ensure his victory. In fact, he was so confident during the press conference at Las Vegas that he quipped “The Philippines will be shocked.”
It didn’t take long for Pacman to react. His response?
“He has a surprise?†Pacquiao said after the media presentation by both fighters at the site of the Oct. 6 bout here. “I’m used to surprises.
“He made sacrifices?†he added. “Sino ba ang hindi nagsakripisyo? Todo sakripisyo ako sa labang ito (Who hasn’t made sacrifices? I’ve sacrificed everything just for this fight).â€
Even promoters Oscar De La Hoya and Bob Arum agreed that Pacquiao will be more than ready for any Barrera surprise, but both warned against an overconfident Pacman stepping into the ring against the grizzled Mexican warrior.
“Pacman has tremendous speed, power and stamina,†De La Hoya said. “He has the speed. He has everything to win in this fight, but he also has everything to lose. Barrera has shown he is great when the odds are stacked against him.â€
“I can see Manny winning this one,†said Top Rank’s Arum, who is co-promoting the fight with De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. “He enjoys a tremendous physical edge. Barrera, however, fights like a tiger when against the wall. He’s in great form.â€
Pacquiao is expected to get an inspirational lift with the arrival of wife Jinkee here Monday.
At this point in time we can no longer afford to point fingers at Manny for all of his recent shortcommings. It’s no longer about just Pacman or Barrera, especially after Barrera’s vow. Though this may sound cliche and mushy, this match is really about the Filipino, especially with the recent racial slurs aired by Desparate Housewives. I don’t friggin care if Manny becomes the richest Filipino in the world or even if his face gets plastered all over TV with his recent GMA deal. Hell, I don’t care anymore if he wins the elections come 2010.
Kick Barrera’s ass Manny. We’re counting on you.

Marami na pera si manny kaya inde na nya papaabutin sa round 3 yan. Karangalan sa sarili at s pilipino na ang taya nya dyan inde na pera. Hindi nababayaran ng pera ang kahihiyan.

Pag natalo si pacman dito, di pa end ng career nya. In fact, MAS yayaman at sisikat pa yan. The Third meeting between the two would mean bigger pay offs for manny. And syempre, we all know the tendency of people to go for the losing side. :D
So yeah, not the end of his career. Pag natalo sya twice in a row, yun ang medyo rocky career na.
