SMART BRO Pre-paid Kit in Transit
A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about how SMART BRO Pre-paid (Wireless) is for online gaming. Here’s a story that I thought I’d share with everyone. A storm hit us sometime this week which caused a major traffic jam in Makati. I was literally stuck in Buendia so I decided to test out how SMART BRO would run while in transit. Before you guys get any funny ideas of me using my laptop while driving, let me clarify that I have a driver, hehe. I took out my Macbook, inserted the SMART BRO USB Kit, and started surfing and even playing games.

Results of my testing after the jump.
ONLINE GAMING
The signal varies. When I was in Makati, the latency was actually fantastic. I hit a bit of a lag problem when we reached Guadalupe Bridge (northbound) but the signal came back strong when we neared Ortigas. This held all the way up to Cubao but it eventually died down when we were in the Tomas Morato/Quezon Avenue area. While the latency actually holds, the annoying thing is the frequent disconnections. I hope SMART can fix this soon so we can actually use the prepaid kit the way it was intended to be - fast, stable, and reliable.
INTERNET SURFING
Now this is where the beauty of this contraption really is. I love the SMART BRO Pre-paid kit for blogging, sending e-mails, and generally surfing. It’s hard to catch a good signal for Youtube or streaming but I rarely do that anyway when I’m not at home. So far I’ve tried working while in transit and it’s been really effective. I can work anytime, anywhere.
So to summarize - it really depends on how you use it. The product can be extremely frustrating at times but it can also be very helpful… when it works. :)

@adam: nope. My friend tried using it while riding on a boat though and he said that there wasn’t any signal at all. Lol. :P

youtube talaga ang nakakainis pagdating s wireless kit..we live in pangasinan, and stay at a rest house near the hundred islands so the signal for smart there is really frustrating.. as a matter of fact, i’m using it this very moment..when i’d watch youtube videos, it would download like 2 secs ever 3 mins, waste of time and load.. when it comes to friendster naman, medyo ok but still slow.. 56kbps and max speed..
can anyone give me information bout the new globe wireless kit? la pa akong alam tungkol dun sa bagong kit but i saw a commercial bout it just recently and talagang kahit saan maganda cgnal ng globe.. i’m planning on switching but need facts first.. email me at everestjen77@y.c.
