Samsung Omnia i900 Launches Today
I don’t know if this was intentional or not but Samsung is going to launch their Omnia i900 unit just a few days after Globe announced the prices of their 3G iPhone here in the Philippines. The Samsung Omnia i900 was dubbed as one of the potential killers of the iPhone and it looks like it will have a fighting chance since it’s much more affordable. SRP is P34,000 for the 8GB model and P38,000 for the 16GB model.

Here are the phone specs:
* Network: HSDPA (7.2 Mbps), EDGE / GPRS 850/900/1800/1900
* OS: Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
* Display: 3.2? WQVGA TFT LCD

* Connectivity: Bluetooth 2.0 / USB 2.0 / WiFi

My only concern here is that the recent Samsung phones that I’ve bought all had technical glitches and they break easily. My U700 kept on hanging and restarting. My girlfriend’s U700’s touchpad kept on malfunctioning as well. I’ve also gotten comments from my friends who own G600 units that they experienced the same problems I did.
Only time will tell if Samsung was finally able to fix those bugs. If they did, then they have a good chance of grabbing significant market share from the premium phone user segment.

finally! I was praying for this phone to be released here soon. If you’re into showing off your phone, then go for iphone. If you’re into the “usefulness” of a phone, omnia beats iphone any day. Kapow! :D

I don’t trust the software… microsoft kasi eh…it’s prone to bugs and other sorts of stuff… but it does have a potential…

i think i prefer this one, Samsung Omnia i900, rather than the Apple 3G iPhone… the iPhone hasn’t been released here in the philippines yet it’s already overrated…
though i hope nagawan na sana nila ng paraan yung technical glitches ng mga samsung fone… (coz i also have a g600)…

Waa!!! Nag ha-hang omnia!!! I tried it several times, madalas sa multimedia nag hhang. grabe kala ko panalo na to sa laban vs iphone.
Sayang, even the hand write recognition samsung na mismo nagsabi na “hindi pa talaga perfect”. Also, whats with the stylus? bakit nakasabit lang sa labas??? Corny naman nun mga tsong, sa tingin nyo, may macho bang bibili ng phone na may nakasabit sa gilid? geezz. Samsung naman…
Video is also unacceptable considering 5MP lens nya, putol putol.
Although i have to say, na impress ako sa optical mouse.

I’m planning to buy this phone. So cool! anyways, the lowest price I got so far is 29,680 for the 8GB.
The name of the store is Headstart. I also asked about their 16GB but they told me that they don’t have stock at this time.
For me, so far this is the #1 phone for this time! Let’s admit it, the features are just so great.

If you want a phone that doesn’t crash, break, glitch or just need resetting all the time, buy a Google Android phone or an iPhone, DON’T buy the i900.
If you don’t mind all the microsoft bugs and Samsung bugs and can live with a phone that will regularly go wrong and that you’ll spend hours fiddling around with just to get some meaningful use out of it, then go ahead and buy an i900.
On paper the spec is very good, but in practical use (for a couple of months now) it is useless, overpriced and overhyped. I’ve now bought an iPhone to replace it and have had no problems at all - plus I use more of the features because they’re easier to get at than with the i900.
