RWC 2007: RP Team Bags Third Place! (3/3)

While the Philippines was able to overcome Germany for the third place, another epic battle was shaping up for the finals. South Korea was set to fight against Thailand to determine who will be crowned the Ragnarok World Champion! Since this is the last match for RWC, the first team that wins 3 matches will be declared the winner (best of 5) and world champion. Korea’s aggressive and fast-paced style met a match though as Thailand met them head-on in a brutal rumble. Pictures and final results after the jump!

The first match was really confusing as the power balance kept on shifting. Both teams suffered casualties but the biggest blow was against Korea when they lost their Champion. Thailand lost almost everyone but they had their Professor, High Priest, and Champion to stave off Korea’s Assassin Cross. Thailand capitalized on this moment and their Champion was able to plough through Korea’s defenses and Thailand won the first game.

Korea bounced back the second game and they made sure that they made less mistakes this time around. They were not as aggressive as they usually are, but they were able to catch Thailand flat footed at one point in the match when they were able to get into a flanking position. Using their Assassin Cross and Champion, Korea wiped out Thailand to even the match score to 1-1. At this point in the game you could literally see some of the Thai players standing talking to one another to adjust their strategies. This would have a major bearing on the next two matches.

Thailand clashed again with Korea, this time they stuck together, minimizing the chances of getting focused fired on by their Assassin Cross and Champion. This tactic coupled with a few lucky breaks from Frost Joke gave Thailand 2 straight wins, making the record 3-1! Thailand does the seemingly impossible task of stopping Korea on their tracks. Guild Destruction from Thailand is now officially the Ragnarok World Champion!

The final results are as follows - RAGNAROK WORLD CHAMPION: THAILAND, RUNNER-UP: SOUTH KOREA, 2nd RUNNER-UP: PHILIPPINES! Congratulations to the three countries! You guys are now officially LEGENDS. More posts, pictures, and videos to come later tonight. I have a bunch of cosplay pictures that I am more than willing to share with everyone. Thank you everyone for your support! Team Philippines would have not reached this far into this tournament without you. Read the 2nd part of this 3-part series by CLICKING HERE.
