Initially, the RP Team really felt bad when they lost to South Korea. Milton Sy, Armada Team Manager, explains in an interview in Hackenslash that their team was really in a pinch especially since most of the members in South Korea had good Vit (except for the killers). This put a stopper to their winning tactic – which was to maximize the Scream skill of the Gypsy to stun their opponents. I was able to meet up with the team in the basement of the mall as they reflected. The mood changed though when Level-up Games CEO, Jane Walker, together with Level-up International CEO, Ben Colayco, showed up to give them a morale boost. The team’s spirits were lifted and they prepared for one more match against Germany so that they could go home with a trophy. More stories and pictures after the jump!
The first match against Germany was a bit slow-paced, as both teams took their time. After a few minutes though the Philippine Team rushed in and killed their Professor, paving the way for a victory. The second round was much quicker as the Philippine Team blitzed Germany, taking out their Professor again. Though the Philippine Team didn’t bring home the gold and settled for 3rd place, I still feel that they are truly champions. I’m proud of how mature they acted, especially in the face of heavy pressure. All those long hours of practicing paid off guys – you won not just for Armada, Boza, or even Baldur. You won this game for the Philippines and for God, and that’s something that not everyone will get to experience in their lifetime.
Here’s a direct quote from the news article posted at Hackenslash:
SEOUL, South Korea—The Philippines crushed Germany, 2-0, in their best-of-three match to win third prize in Ragnarok World Championship 2007.
As the third prize winner in the international tournament that drew participants from 11 countries, the Philippine team will be going home with a trophy and 3, 000, 000 won (3,287 US dollars or 146,561 Philippine pesos).
“We had a strong performance,” Milton Sy, the manager of the Philippine team, Armada, told INQUIRER.net in an interview after the Philippines defeated Germany in the battle for third place.
“It’s just so sad that we had to immediately face South Korea. Their build [the choice of which characters will make up a party and the stats for these characters] was strong against the Philippines. Their build negated our Dancer [one of the Ragnarok character classes], so it was almost like seven versus six in our match against them,” Sy explained.
I’d also like to give a shout out to Level-up’s top management, Ms. Jane Walker, Jake San Diego, and Ben Colayco. The support you’ve given clearly shows how passionate you are about the business. Of course I also have to thank Marlou, Kevs, and Milton. All three of you are instrumental in the success of the team! I also can’t forget about Joey Allarila who has been covering the event for us. Lastly, thank you to everyone who has prayed and supported Team Philippines, especially to the guilds who helped Armada practice in the Challenge the Champ event. It was at that event that they were exposed to pressure, various line-ups, and good competition amongst their peers.

Kaya sila nag vit type chars dahil sa change sa mechanics na nagpahina sa Acid Bomb ng Creators.. so feel nila na bihira kukuha ng Creator so Vit Type would be the best thing to do.. Kaya lang naman hindi nag vit type yung iba dahil durog agad dati sa AB nung walang limit ang Bottles ng Creator.. :no1:

JVC on July 23, 2007
You are the first Philippine team to make a podium finish. Galing niyo!!!
reikoku on July 23, 2007
well dapat alam na nila na di masyado effective ang gypsy since di effective ang creator (5 acid and fire bottles omg!) dapat nagisip na sila ng paraan na maging usefull ang gypsy other than stun. di excuse yung sinasabi na natalo sila kasi di nila nagamit masyado yung stun.
