For the past 2 weeks, the Valkyrie Server has been encountering in-game bugs involving the party and guild system. There is also an issue with the connection wherein players are forcibly disconnected and they have a hard time logging in. Our IT Team has been working with Gravity Network Administrators to solve these problems and I was actually hoping that they would fix it this morning but based on the feedback from the community, there is still a very long delay with the guild and party systems. You might be wondering what is causing all of this and it’s mainly because the account server is being flooded by players who are trying to use third-party programs (bots) but keep on getting disconnected every 30 seconds – 1 minute. That’s millions of unique log-ins daily and it’s really a huge source of stress.
To address this issue, we’ve been pulling out data on who these players are. If you checked the Ragnarok Website recently, you’ll see a very serious announcement posted a few days ago. Here’s the direct quote:

Please be advised that Level-up! Games will start sanctioning users caught with thousands of instances of daily log-ins. Not only is this an indication that you’re using a third party program, this can also be considered a DOS attack against our servers which causes great inconvenience to the rest of the community. This is the main reason why there is difficulty in logging into Valkyrie for the past week.
Take note that there will be no appeals or contestations. There is no humanly possible reason to justify thousands of log-in attempts for one account in a single day. We will be doing this on a daily basis to preserve game integrity and to ensure smoother gaming experience.

I’ve already asked GM Lilith to post the usernames of all banned offenders on the Ragnaboards sometime this evening. We will continue banning users with insane amounts of log-ins since we implemented the Gravity Anti-Bot Fix. Other than that, we’ve already added more physical servers for Valkyrie to accommodate the log-ins that we’re getting everyday. I’ll post the link to the list of permanently banned users once it’s up. Take note that we will NOT entertain any appeals with regards to this matter. Like what we said in the announcement, there is simply no excuse or reason for a normal human player to log-in hundreds, if not thousands, of times in one day.
As soon as the problem is solved, I will post another update. Till then, let me apologize to all the entire Valkyrie community for the problems. Special mention for all party-dependent job classes like Priests.

It’s reasonable to say that if a client doesn’t properly communicates with the server, it’s a 3rd party client. That should be a first test, before GM tests. By the way, it has been one month since Valkyrie was lauched and there was no post about it. Mr. Wauks, what are LU thoughts about this project? I wish the “Chooser of the Slain” would come around bRO and take a few wounded heros with her.

Don’t worry kuya Wauks, today by 8:00am the bots are gonna get an anti-encryption patch that will no longer make them auto-dc. Of course, that also means that bots will plague the servers again, so until you have that anti-bot from your 3rd party provider, you’ll see a lot of disgruntled manual players later on within the week.

Ksi they made a statement long ago na legal na sa commercial servers ang bot.. At pag tinanggal nila ang bot.. wala pa 500 per server ang online nyan.. buti nlng kung ala bayad yung mga servers na yun, e meron ksi e.. xempre magbabayad ka ng 500 pra sa 2 months pero d mo magagamit.. e db sayang pera? kaya cla nag baban ng bots sa valk is dhil libre nga at ang ibang mga abusado ay nagbobot army at KS bots sa valk

Sabi yun ng mga dating employees ng LU dun sa article ng INQ.net, ewan ko ba kung bakit hanggang ngayon ginagamit pa ring depensa ng mga botters yung article na yun eh napakatagal na ng article na yun; not necessarily eternally bound ang LU sa statements ng mga taong yun diba?
Anyway, it doesn’t really matter. Mas gugustuhin nga ng mga tao na mag-bot habang bawal, kasi nga masarap (raw) ang bawal diba?
Oh and kuya Wauks, any plans about the bots in Valkyrie, the ones that have the encryption patch in particular? You said yourself that you’d be prepping a speech and a third party anti-bot in the event that the anti-bot feature fails us… or something to that degree (tinatamad ako maghukay ng mga lumang entry ng mga blog sa ngayon, siguro next time na lang lol).

i got censored. it’s okay i guess. it’s a personal blog after all. and i guess that’s a good thing, because that means you saw my original post to begin with.
but i hope you got a good read of my post before you deleted it. i posted those sites NOT TO ENDORSE THEM, but to make you aware that learning about these third-party programs is not half as difficult as you would have us believe. information about it IS OUT IN THE OPEN (which is exactly what opensource means), and there’s no excuse for the game developers not to find a way to circumvent them.
but the bottomline is, HUMAN INTELLIGENCE IS THE BEST WAY TO COUNTER ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. sa developers na mismo ng 3rd party programs nanggaling na if you REALLY want to keep a server bot-free, YOU HAVE TO HAVE PEOPLE LIKE GMs OR MPs ACTIVELY POLICING THE SERVER. any other thing will fall short.
