Ragnarok Valkyrie FAQ
Eversince we announced Ragnarok Online’s free server, Valkyrie, we’ve been swamped with questions from the local gaming community and our good friends from the media. It’s expected since this is really something that caught the industry by surprise. Valkyrie’s features are really one-of-a-kind, and I believe that Ragnarok players from other countries are also going to watch how this server grows as the days go by. I’m sure that gamers from countries where Level-up also publishes Ragnarok - India and Brazil, are also excited about this development. It’s not a far-fetched idea that this gets applied there as well.
Anyway, I’ve gathered the most frequently asked questions about Ragnarok Valkyire and I’ll answer them here today in this post.
Is it really Free-to-Play? Or is this just some kind of Open Beta stint for this server?
Ragnarok Online’s Valkyrie server will be free-to-play forever. The business model is simillar to Fly for Fun or Perfect World wherein you can buy in-game items using top-up cards. There’s no subscription fee and you can log-in anytime you want.
Will all Ragnarok servers go Free-to-Play?
No. Only Valkyrie server will be Free-to-Play.
Will all the rare drops be removed and can only be bought in the item mall?
No. Not all the rare drops will be removed. In fact, MVP monsters will have better items to offer and higher drop rates. We have removed some rare items and they will be sold on the item mall but not all. In fact, most of the items sold in the item mall are just the basics that you need to start an adventure in Midgard.
What are the server settings?
1.5x EXP, 1x DROP Rate. You can click here to read my previous post about the server settings.
Are all maps PK-enabled?
Not all. Click here to view the initial list of maps to be PK-enabled. Take note that we can switch other maps PK-On if there are in-game events or announced bot hunts.
Won’t Valkyrie eat up the community of existing servers?
There’s a chance but based from our community discussions and studies, most of the players will stay in their respective servers. Valkyrie aims to expand the market for Level-up by reaching out to non-gamers who were turned off before with the subscription rate. We’re also going to launch acquisition efforts for Valkyrie which targets new gamers.
Lastly, take note that the server settings I posted are still tentative. They will only be confirmed when they’re posted on the official Ragnarok website. Hope you guys are having a great weekend!

or makakabuy ka ng in game zeny by topping up?

2nd question… inde pede gawin nyun +4 automatic ang sell nyung equips? panu ung mga boss card sa event lang ba kayo mag sell ng rare Item?? magiging maayos ba ang inyon serbisyo sa Server na ito??? anu na ang mangyayari sa thor pagdumating itong server na ito???

Kuya Wauks off-topic lang po, pero I think kailangang ma-resolve yung issue agad para mapadali buhay ng mga newbies sa lahat ng server lalo na sa Valkyrie: yung skill reset NPC kasi sa Pront, yung pang-1st job lang at base level 40 below kailangan, nawawala! Mukhang nabura siya kasabay nung binura ng mga techies ang skill reset NPC sa Juno. Are there items that can be purchased from the Item Mall but are dropped as well? Like Raydric Cards and Hydra Cards for example. :)

@ Wauks: Hindi ba pwede na wag nang ibenta sa HyperMart ang mga Cards (this goes for both MVP, boss and normal cards) para naman may kaunting circulation ang zenny sa Valkyrie. Kahit iyung mga basic items na lang like Muffler [1], Buckler [1], etc. Ang ibenta sa HyperMart. Pero ayos na iyung no teleport, para naman makapagexplore na sa Midgard mga tao ngayon.

Ok na yung No TELE at all para astig at mas magiging astig kung magiging totally Pk server na parang sa URDR at dun sa ayaw ng my PK eh maglaro na lang kayo ng TETRIS! at gawin nyo sana ang lahat ng makakaya nyo about sa bot and dupe issue dapat totally wala na rin yan para maging maayos at mag Success ang “Valkyrie Project” isama na ring tanggalin ang GM’s Pet para maging patas ang lahat.

The final server settings will be announced asap in the official valkyrie website. Also, to add to Wauks. If you have the current RO client, you just have to download a small file (5MB) to install Valkyrie. For the old players, we have CDs ready for them. Am trying to set up an auction.ph system so that national ang delivery. Finally, I will post a separate article about compiled player feedback at my site too.
Stay tuned at both our blogs and the RO site for the download and installation instructions. It should be up by Monday or Tuesday.

I hope LU seriously reconsiders the removal of teleport from this server… it would only make it harder for comebacking players to enjoy the game without it.

The removal of the teleport skill is okay in my opinion. This way, players would party more. More parties, more intereraction, more fun. It would be just like in the old days of RO.

Adding to Henie’s post, I hope people would be more open to the idea of a no-teleport RO. It’s not only to make people party more often, but to also spend their zennies more on potions and to make them consider alternative levelling spots and not go kill-stealing in GH as a low-level archer. And kuya Wauks, about that missing Hypnotist in Prontera (who wasn’t supposed to be removed), any word on him? It’s pretty difficult to make a new character on any server without him around (except for merchants, thieves, archers and magicians, since I can survive without skill resets for them). It’s much more fun to make a Swordsman with level 10 Magnum Break then reset once mobbing Thief Bugs becomes boring, or making an Acolyte who will only use Heal while low-levelled (going Monk), than to go chugging around the game without him around :(

mas gusto ko yung may teleport. mas enjoyable yung game kung may teleport in my opinion. about naman sa bots, kayu na bahala sa kanila. sa tingin ko, hindi ‘no-teleport server’ ang sagot sa bots.

Om my walang teleport. That’ll be something new hehe .. imagine a chance encounter with a giant mob of monsters or PK-hungry players.

good day sir wauk.. im a ragnarok fantics and adik 2( TYR Server) ill go straight 2 the point pede ba mlaman mga upcoming event this first quarter of 2008. any event n from level up(event na on malls, or mga launching or kahit ano.).
