Being a Guild Master is an honor.. I actually think of it as a service more than anything else. Remember, to become a good leader, you have to be a servant first.
SoopahSpoonBaby, or “Nikki”, is one of the guild leader of Goonz, one of the most feared cavalry guilds in Philippine Ragnarok Online. They started out as a small group of friends, which later transformed into the elite Shadow Circle Dragoons cavalry guild. After 2 years for service to the Shadow Circle, they moved on and joined the Chaos server powerhouse, Armada. For all the brute force and strategy needed for a cavalry guild, it’s really amazing to see a woman carry their banner as they wage into war. Nikki and her guildmates are really good friends of mine, and I’d like to thank them for letting me do this interview.
Wauks: Hi Nikki! Thanks for joining me for this interview. The first question is very simple: what got you hooked into gaming? This is really a male-dominated hobby and it’s amazing that you’re not just playing, you’re actually being competitive.
Nikki: No problem Wauks! Anyway, I think what caught my attention the first time was when I saw a poring! I saw my friend killing it, and I asked, “Hey why are you killing that? kawawa naman cute panaman.” (laughs)
Later on I learned that it was a very interesting game, especially coz during beta days you had to take a test to see what job would be recommended to you… with a psychological interpretation test included..hehehe!Then i got hooked coz it was a challenge for me, because it wasn’t a game you could understand overnight. You really had to learn about the weapons and the appropriate cards that go with it, so much to memorize! It’s also nice having live players which you can talk to and help you out. I loved it during the beta days when you had to observe proper decorum and the use of proper language. I even remember the rules of pRO - one of them said “Always be polite .” ^_^
Wauks: Hahaha! Yup I agree with you that the Beta Days were really great. Back then we all had to use carrots and milk for healing because it was too expensive to buy potions. Anyway, it’s really amazing that a girl is leading a cavalary themed guild (goonz). How does it feel to be in charge of a tactical and strategic guild? Do you have consultants that help you formulate your moves in-game?
Nikki: Being a Guild Master is an honor.. I actually think of it as a service more than anything else. Remember, to become a good leader, you have to be a servant first. I also make sure that decisions are not solely made by me. I always make sure that all my members participate in the decision-making process similar to a democracy. It is important that all your members are comfortable with each other so i see to it that we all get along, I also make sure that everyone enjoys their stay with armadagoonz. Despite our very competitive nature, our main goal is always to have fun. We never forget that this is a game, and games are there to be enjoyed!
Wauks: I couldn’t have said it better myself! Everyone should pause for a while when they’re getting to caught up in the moment, especially in tournaments and events. I remember back then when you and the gang were still in Shadow Circle. How did you guys find me as a Guild Master? Was I too strict? XD
Nikki: You and the rest of the SC peeps were fun to be with! Fun and… addict! Everytime I had time to play after class I’d catch you already there at the internet cafe with Katsu (shop owner)! In-game, i’d say you were very organized and a very smart spokesperson. You were a very good politician in-game, I guess it runs in your blood. What my members in the Goonz always appreciated was that you’d always find exciting things to do to keep everyone involved and happy.
Wauks: Thanks for accepting this interview! I hope that you guys continue to have fun and even become more competitive while in Armada. Do you have any message to all of our pRO gamer readers? You have a lot of fans, you know.

i dont know if mababasa pa itong reply na to, but nabasa ko lahat and its very interesting…these are high profile players ha!!! pero sana naman interview with a not so high profile player naman, para maiba. i hope you can interview a high priest named bernadettebarzaga. ussually ko nakikita yan sa gh eh, i onced talked to her at ang bait, tinanong ko sa mga tambay dun if cnu yun, but they know very little about her, uyy mystery naman. pero they say na always nandun sa gh yun just to help yun mga players, walang bayad, walang kapalit kahit ano, its like everyone in gh kilala cya, WTF!!! na ask ko cya one time why nya help lahat ng makita nya dun, sabi nya “everyone needs help at one time or another” o di ba ang lupit. this is my kind of player hindi cya high profile but very popular. pero she leaves a mark sa mga taong na help nya noh, you can even get testimonials sa tropang gh. matagal na player na raw ito but always keeps a low profile. she does not talk much, pero what little she says makes a lot of sense, kami na tambay sa gh would like to know more about her. yun ang request namin wauks, hirap kasi hanapin yun eh, kung baga now you see her, now you dont heheheh, kaya pala d2 ko na post to ay if hindi ako nagkakamali ay ka guild ni Nikki sa armada yan, so it will be easier to find her, eh kaming mga pang masa baka di pansinin ng mga high profile players hehehe weak kasi kami poor pa hahaha, pero seriously po, you will not regret talking to this person, iba sya its not about WOE, not PVP, not about guilds, just plain ragnarok.

As for the person red-dot is referring to, Miss Bernadette Barzaga, all I can say is that her dedication is indeed very admirable. Guys, pls find some time to read Maam Bernadette’s blog, a blog she created for the so called “low-profile players”. Try viewing it using IE. I assure you, you’re all going to love her the moment you read her stories in her blogs. Thanks,=)

btw, here are some facts I knew about Maam Bernadette,
1. She helps a lot of people in GH. Her reason,
- to prevent those low-profile players from quitting the game.
2. She has a guild named “Accercitus Excelsis” which means, “to the highest calling”.
Why the name? here her answer..
“the answer is simple, we are here to help, a divine existence of sacrifice. Question now is why the bother to aid others, this is our answer, all of us in AE started with very little or no zeny at all, plus the fact that we do not know much about the game, there was no one to point us to the right direction, we don’t know about built, stats and skill points distribution, as well as leveling spots and equipments so many of us ended up with wrong builts. Sadly most of our members though intact are seldom online. But the few remaining members struggle to continue this legacy of sacrifice.”
