I’ve been gaming for years now and I noticed that people tend to idolize or “celebritize” other gamers who are vocal and passionate about the things they do. There are different reasons, most often than not it’s related to PVP strength or leadership. This new section of the blog is dedicated to those few players who decide to put a bigger stake into the game by being guild leaders or game idols. This is similar to the LU Yosi Break Session, but this time I will be talking to interesting players in the various LU titles.

Celebrity Player Interview 01: Master Diwa
Guild Leader, Grand Lethal, Ragnarok Online

Wauks: Hi Diwa, thanks for accepting the invitation for a quick chat. Anyway, let’s go on with this one! How long have you been playing Ragnarok?

Diwa: I have been playing Ragnarok since June 2003. I only saw my playing a game and he was whacking pink jelly-like things (Porings) and I said “Wow ang cute naman! Pa-try nga nyan.” and that day forever change my life. As we all know it, I became addicted to the game. And the rest is history.

Wauks: Tell us about yourself and your guild? What are your achievements as a guild?

Diwa: I have been a dedicated player of the Knight class. I have remade my knight multiple times because I kept looking for build that suits me. I even went as far as authoring two guides for the Knight and Lord Knight to help aspiring knight players. Then I discovered the Taekwon class, specifically the ranker type. I became fascinated by the benefits it has as opposed to the Soul Linker or Star Gladiator. Right now my main character is my ranker taekwon and I also authored a guide for taekwons.

Grand Lethal is the guild I consider my family in pRO. We have been through a lot together. Our achievements include the following:

• We created the first ever Godly item in pRO, all servers. We made the Mjolnir and it was created by my very own character, the clown GM, LethalianProdigy of Grand Lethal [MD].
• We have the longest held agit in recorded history. 187 days hold of Skoegul agit in Prontera, and it could have been extended longer if only we didn’t need to let go of it during RPC agit lords 2006. We broke the emperium ourselves.
• Our guild also owned the very 1st Solar God Helm in Chaos created by myself also.
• We made it to the server finals of RPC Agit Lords 2006.
• Our guilds are represented in the RPC 9-man teams of Shadow Circle (2004) and Steel Wolves (2005).

Wauks: That’s a lot, hehe. I’m sure you have a lot of good memories in pRO, but what’s the best?

Diwa: I have so many good memories in Ragnarok, it’s so hard to choose for the best one. The union of Grand Lethal, Shadow Circle, Insurrection and Sustainer of the Realm (GSIS) reminds of great camaraderie and unity, I miss those days. Grand Lethal housed all of my closest friends in pRO and together we had very memorable moments. Midgard is such a great place to be, it’s like have a small world in my computer and I can wander wherever I want and talk to whoever I want. It’s a great feeling.

Wauks: What are your plans for Grand Lethal? I heard that you guys will be merging soon? Can you confirm this?

Diwa: After RPC, the guild went major transitions. A lot of members have either quit or transferred to other guilds dismayed by our defeat in RPC 2006. Only the most loyal members have held on and it is because of them Grand Lethal still fights on.

Server merge is just around the corner, and the active council of Grand Lethal have decided to lay down the name of Grand Lethal alongside with legends such as Steel Wolves and Shadow Circle. Hopefully this merging will spawn new beginnings and new victories. I cannot delve much into the details yet but we will be merging with some old allies, former enemies and new found friends. Wait for the official announcement at March 22, 2007.

Wauks: How about RPC 2007? Any plans there?

Diwa: There are plans yes. But as of now nothing is final yet. A lot of things can change and that depends greatly on the outcome of our merging.

Wauks: Great to hear that. Okay let’s talk about YOU, the man behind the avatar. You’re part of a band? Can you share something about that?

Diwa: Yes, I am the bandleader, main songwriter and violinist of the band, Makiling. We have been around for almost 10 years now. We have recorded two independent albums and we’ve also performed abroad in Berlin, Germany. We play original songs that are mostly inspired by world cultures and Irish music performed to a rock beat. We are currently organizing major concerts in preparation for our 10th anniversary.

Wauks: That’s great news! Hope to see more of Makiling. Maraming salamat Diws, hope to see more of you in-game! Any message to all the RO gamers who read this blog?

Diwa: Ragnarok Online is already a part of our system. We have made new friends here and probably even business partners. Never deny later in your life that you became part of a wonderful and dynamic community for once a Ragnarok player, always a Ragnarok player. And as I always say, this may well be only a game, but the people that we meet, the lives that we’ve touched and the emotions that we felt are all very real.
