Ragnarok & FlyFF AVG Problem

AVG did an update which tags the RAG.EXE file as a virus. Because of this development, you won’t be able to run Ragnarok if you quarantine the file. We are fully aware of this and as stated in the official announcement, we’re already talking to AVG to remedy the situation. There’s no reason to panic or be alarmed that your PC will blow up because of the RAG.EXE file.

Here’s the official announcement:

AVG anti-virus issues and conflicts

To all Ragnarok Players,

We would like to inform you that we are aware of the AVG anti-virus issues or conflicts with regards to the Ragnarok.exe files. We advise everyone not be alarmed, as the virus alert is merely just a false alarm.

We are already working with the developers of AVG to remedy this but as a temporary solution, we advise everyone to try the following measures:

- You can turn off your AVG anti-virus (reminder: you will be open to any virus ones this is done) before patching Ragnarok.
- You can turn off your AVG anti-virus and replace it with another anti virus for now.
- If all Ragnarok.exe files are already in you virus vault, please uninstall your client then turn-off your AVG anti-virus.
- Reinstall Ragnarok client without AVG anti-virus.

If you’re planning on taking out AVG, please replace it with another anti-virus. It’s not safe to have your PC naked especially if you’re connected to a network.

According to my friends who play Fly for Fun, this is also a problem for them. Rest assured this will also be fixed in due time.

    “Currently there is a known issue that began a few hours ago with AVG, Panda, and McAfee flagging Ragnarok.exe as a backdoor trojan.

    These are false positive reports, and we have contacted AVG, Panda, and McAfee regarding this to stop this false report.

    There is not a Virus/worm/trojan/malware installed with Ragnarok online.

    Temporary solutions to this may be to disable AV solutions, or possibly adding in an exception for the Ragnarok Online folder. Those solutions are not highly recommended due to the potential vulnerability that this could leave in your system.

    We have contacted all the AV companies to find out what the issue is. Norton does not find a virus in the ragexe, and we are contacting them as well. This seems to be a bad virus definition set that some companies may have put out.”

  9. Waaaaa! Hassle. @_@ ‘Di ko pa naman alam kung pa’no i-off yung AVG. (Pa’no nga ba? >.< ) Tapos nalipat ko na yung exe files sa vault. T.T Darn. Reinstall pa.


  10. actually kapag VISTA gamit mo ayaw din.. it’s not AVG only. also with Norton.

    It has something to do with the latest patch update ng gameguard. ano ba ginawa ng gameguard kasi??


  11. mga pipz kung may NOD32 kayung installer mas maganda yun, di maarte tulad ng AVG hehe..
    grabe hassle talaga, buong araw lang naman ako nag-reinstall patch reinstall patch reinstall patch..

  14. NOD32 is the best! Better use that than AVG.
    The only reason why people use AVG Free is because it’s…yes, free.
    They don’t know what crap they have installed in their PCs.

  19. for those who quarantined ragexe:

    sa mga na-quarantine ang ragexe or any other exe ng ragna for that matter, as long as meron kayong backup na ragexe mareresolve ung problem nyo. first turn off your antivirus (mine was AVG and i thought malfunction lng ng avg ung backdoor sa ragexe pero ndi pla so naquarantine ko rin). and then replace the affected exe with a backup one.

    good thing when i downloaded the whole gravity folder via torrent, i saved it in case of emergency. so i just copy-pasted the ragexe.exe from my backup to the RO folder in my program files, turned it on and voala! okay na uli RO ko wahahahaha.

    Well… hindi ko akalain na madadali ang RO ko sa bahay, kahit na AVG Professional Suite ang antivirus ko. Sana magkaroon ng matinong explanation ang AVG tungkol dito. no1

    Just want to share.. all I did was to update the AVG today march 7 then open the vault restore the exes(ragexe valexe etc) then retasrt the PC afterward I turn off avg and Walla! my RO is running… So there’s no need to uninstall or anything…
    hehehe

    wahahahaha! this is somthing new..i wonder what did the AV companies do this time..

    on a lighter note, i am a avast/AVG user but i think im planning to switch to BitDefender..i still have to check kc kng anu un magandang AV’s na matino tino namn kc lagi nalng bombard ng virus virus virus X_x..magor headache :p

    still opt to test the AVG on my PV against ragna.exe hehehehe..di p aq nag open since kahapon..or else pwd rin na wag muna nyo i-update ang virus def. ng AV when it was still safe to play RO under an AVG ^_^


  27. Waaaaa, help nmn po bakit ang sabi CANNOT INIT D3D OR GRF FILE HAS PROBLEM. Ano po ba problem pag ganito? I encountered this one before pero nalimutan ko na po. Please help nmn po.

    Created as a process on disk Executed as a Process Writes to another Process’s Virtual Memory (Process Hijacking)


  32. whenever I try to patch up Ragnarok, Valhalla or Valkyrie the following error appears:

    Failed to write file

    valexe.exe (valkyrie)
    valhexe.exe (valhalla)
    ragexe.exe (ragnarok)

    If this has been asked and answered before, please bear with me; it’s been a long time since I’ve installed Ragnarok in my own PC. Please help. :(
