Ragnarok Community Concerns (2/24/08)
Philippine Ragnarok Online has been having a lot of technical issues lately and I’d like to take this time to shed some light on some of the problems that we’re facing and what Level Up has done about it. This will also act as the late community concerns update which I do in the weekly update.
Valkyrie Connectivity, Bots, & Guild/Party Bug
A few weeks ago Gravity sent in a team of engineers to fix the technical issues that have hounded Valkyrie. They were successful in fixing the log-in problem but we were left with the disconnection and the guild/party bug each time the number of users exceed 6,000. FYI - the koreans have already gone back home but they will be sending a different team to address the guild/party bug.
Another issue is the bots. Let me make this clear - Level up does not want bots in Valkyrie and Valhalla. They are unwelcome both in the gameplay and business aspect. They take up server bandwidth making life harder for the real paying players. One flaw of the MP program is that the MP’s tend to focus more on Valhalla. We’re rectifying that by coming up with a dedicated MP program for Valkyrie - and we will have a larger team since the population of Valkyrie is really overflowing.
Baldur Siege Problem
Baldur has been having their own share of problems lately since they’re having a hard time sieging because of all the bugs that suddenly pop up during siege time. This was already escalated to Gravity because Level Up has literally done everything humanly possible to address this issue (including changing and reformatting all Baldur-related hardware). I’ll talk with the RO Team on Monday to see if they can come up with more compensation packages while we’re waiting for the fix.
This is basically the comments and suggestions post for this week. If you guys have any other issues or concerns, raise them now. I would also like to ask for suggestions on how you would deal with the current problem given our restrictions. Again - please be constructive.
To end, let me apologize to the citizens of Valkyrie and Baldur. You deserve the best gaming experience possible, and we will continue to endeavor to fix all the bugs at the soonest possible time.
PS - I have more than a hundred UNMODERATED COMMENTS right now. I’ll go through them tonight and tomorrow morning.

Im really dissapointed today! Why? dahil hindi ako makapag transcend. I dont know kung ano ang reason kung bakit ayaw akong gawing high novice ni Valkyrie.
Reason according to valkyrie NPC is that I am supposed to empty my storage. Well, paano ko ba naman tatanggalin ang Bubble Gum and Field Manual (pero im sure na fix na ito and i can transcend kahit meron nito sa inventory), Angling Hat (im sure too na hindi rin ito ang problema) and BASEBALL CAP [1]
What’s the problem with my BASEBALL CAP [1]? i can’t put it in my kafra storage, i can’t pass it to other players, can’t sell to NPC (baliw naman ako kung ibebenta ko ito sa NPC noh).
Ngayon hindi ko mapa transcend ang level 99 sage ko na sana ay gagawin kong professor bago man lang sana matapos ang x4 sa Valhalla.

compensation? hmm maybe additional game time? sayang sa mga tao na nagloload ng 20-50 load..

WoE is the probably one main factor that keeps people playing RO… Its suposed to be fun for us, but thanks to the random #$%!, its frustrating.
if this problem continues, i doubt many people will be looking forward to the the “highly anticipated” WoE: 2nd edition. If you people can’t maintain a siege’s series stability for a couple of hours, let alone two seperate WoE series…

Yeah, another thing is the dupe issue. Some people are afraid to make large scale purchases because they are not sure if the said item is duped or not. Some people on the other hand, are raking in the cash because of the copies they produce.

Simple lang nman sulosyon jan eh… Upgrade LU’s bandwidth ng hindi nahihirapan ang mga server..
Tinitipid nyo mga players nyo eh ang laki laki nman ng kita nyo.. Puro keo fix ng fix.. why not try to upgrade ur bandwidth baka may mangyaring kakaiba nman… DBA?

RO2 is not yet finish lots of bugs coming around in KRO2… but honestly Kuya pong mas maganda pa rin po RO1… Still playing RO1 even if I have access in RO2… its fun but the fun ends fast. ubus na quest…. hmm I doubt that RO2 will sell as good as Ro1… Y??? there are lotsa RO2 private servers there… and even in Korea irerelaunceh ulit RO2 kasi inde gaanong bumenta e…If ever RO 2 will come maybe 2009-2010…. aw…. hula lang ha…. even my korean friends before didnot play RO2 (they just tired yes but eventually they gave their accounts to me JUMONGGGG)… they still like RO1 better…

- Sir Wauks ung compensation po sa Valkyrie Delay problem extend nyu nalang x4 exp.
- Another problem din sa Valkyrie. Pag nag ppm ako ng tao tapos online pa siya ang lumalabas sa pm ay “There is no character that goes by that name.” Tsaka ung DC ng DC every 10-20 mins. Lagi akong nadedeads dahil DC ng DC.
- About MP system sa Valkyrie. Kahapon nachempuhan ko na nanghuhuli ang MP dun sa Sleeper Map. Grabe pagkakateleport nung botter na priestess. Sa tabi pa ng character ko tineteleport ng MP. Napagkamalan tuloy akong MP nung priestess. Nanghinge pa ng sorry at di na daw uulitin pero after a few minutes nag BOT nanaman sa same map kung san siya tinetesting ng MP kung bot ba talaga o hindi.

Even RO1 started with lots of bugs…so it is not a big deal if they gonna launch RO2 w/ or without bugs.
they just freaking us waiting on it.

I really think that you and the RO LU team are doing a great job. It sometimes is frustrating to have all the good programs side-swiped by bugs and technical problems. That’s what happened also to RF, the DDNM. I applaud the good coordination between developers and the RO team. We are currently seeing results now but I also think that the community, through the MP program will also be able to help. We’re headed in the right direction.

Unfortunately, if there really is an MP team dedicated to Valhalla, their efforts are hardly felt. Bots still vend, harvest, levelup up freely in Valhalla without being reprimanded.
OT: Waukeen, id like to follow up a case ticket (ticket # PT78T) about my bugged account in Valhalla which happened after 2/20 server maintenance. Id really appreciate if you could do something about the case because your Customer Care team is very incompentent. Thanks.

then why did the siege related problem started in Valkyrie, gameguarded and all. Then god knows for what reason it decided to go to Baldur…
a very unlikely cause… but that reminded me of my previous theory that duped items may be causing the server instabilities, although i also concluded that it is probably unlikely since the instability only occurs in the 2 x 3 hours of siege time… but then again… many people login for WoE, and thus it might be where many duped items are used…
But I digress…

the new chatbox is very useful for filtering out unneeded messages so you can only see important mesages like guild chats and server announcements (like castle has been taken messages). Plus, its good for priests and buffers because you can see which party member’s buffs have expired (eg, xxx’s armor has been broken) and can have the initiative (like a good buffer should) of rebuffing them without them asking for it.
plus iRO and kRO is not having the siege instabilities, and they had it before we did. so far so good…

Kuya wauks, speaking of concerns, pa add na lang ng isa pa: supposedly kasi dapat yung Rachel Sanctuary ng Valhalla open na dapat diba (yung nabayaran na automatically yung 500m prerequisite)? I mean, yun yung isang nangyari sa Valkyrie… naayos na ba yun? Or sobrang outdated lang ba ako sa isyu na yun? /swt
Oh and one more Valhalla-related issue: the long-standing Acolyte/Super Novice issue of the Teleport skill point not being restored… sabi kasi sa akin ng Customer Support kailangan na talaga daanin sa Neuralizer, but isn’t there any other way (other than Neuralizer or transcending)?

The Botting problem in Valkyrie is getting worse by the day. Its very frustrating for us manual players to level-up our characters, and its equally irritating that the few other people who manually level their characters are KS’ers. And there’s only one solution i can think of to ease up our leveling. Desperate situations does call for desperate measures. And with that I would like to propose that LU should add more PK maps, especially maps that are infested with bots. If we can’t resolve the matter through diplomatic means, then its time that we take the law into our hands. Its time for Vigilante Justice!!

Concerning the updated drop list. The karvo removal from poison spores is debilitative to the assassin community.. Poison spores are the primary source of the karvo supply to brew our Poison Bottles. I acknowledge that LU added monsters that drop them, but the new monsters that dropped them were all located at Guild Dungeons. Only castle owners would benefit from it and thus grants them the monopoly of its distribution and price. As suspected the prices of Karvos at Valkyrie is soaring.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I’ll forward them all to the Ragnarok Team tomorrow morning and will give an update on this week’s update (Wednesday). Tomorrow I’ll be posting pictures of the Level up Planning Session which we had in Tagaytay. I’ll also confirm what’s in store for everyone on Wednesday.

may protesta po ako about sa neo weapons… may mga bot po kasi na umaabuso sa mga neo weapons… example po nito ay iyong neo balista ng mga hunter, dancer at bard. kung saan ako nagpapalevel ngaun. sa ra_fild05 at ra_fild06 po ay mga pugad ng hunter, bard, at dancer na nagpapalevel magdamag ang mga bot at nagpapayaman n rin… ndi nyo po ba pedeng tanggalin n lng mga neo weapons? kasi nakakaasar na po… ang lakas ng bawas nila sa monster at uunahan ka pa…

yung guild tournament sa baldur only a few people were able to benefit from that event, pero ang dami na apektuhan sa guild bug. i hope if there will be compensation for the guild bug lahat sana makinabang, di lng naman sila ang nagseiseige, kami din.

opinion lang.. sa tingin ko kya dun na nagfofocus ung mga MP s Valhalla kc na turn down silat nawalan ng gana sa valk kc sa dami dami ng nireport nilang bots. eh piling pili lang ung na ban. kya cgro andon sila sa valhalla ng fofocus kc less bots and less work, d tulad sa valk kht enjoy sila at gustong gusto nila tumulong pra ieradicate ang bots kht marami work, nde rin nagagawan ng paraan dahil sa sistema na pinatatakbo nyo.

@Whistler :: hmmm..there is a possibility that the chat/party/friends list delay is caused by the new chat system but seriously, it was working just fine at comercial worlds and even before the log-in plauge hit valkyrie…nice try though since there could also be a possibility.
@pickey :: joining all comercial servers spells more complications: more botters, more bandwith to shed, more lag problems and the merge of bugs in all servers…not really a good idea to join all servers.
@awts :: dude, take note that he is not too much on the RO cummunity anymore but on the RO2 community…yes, he is still with us helping out in the RO community but please, please, dont get mad at kuya wauks..as you can clearly see, he is trying his real best to help our RO community…we’ll just have to hope and pray for the best results to happen asap..
@all :: the truth is, who is to blame for the botting issue? edi tayo lang namn db? question: why are we still botting in a world where we are not supposed to bot anymore? ethics people, its just ethics…please be considerate to the people who wants to really play and not bot. we are destroying our own community just bec. of botting (this is addressed to all botters out there)…same goes to the dupe issue. parang gus2 nyo sirain un gameplay itself pra mawala na ang RO eh…please lang wag na mag bot/dupe in worlds that these things are NEVER suposed to be done…
i’ve been thinking whats causing the bugs in the guild/party/1:1 chat/friends system…maybe it has somthing to do with the mailbox system? or maybe there is an actual script error because the server that handles the chat system is practically malfunctioning…kc fluctuating ang system eh..nagiging ok and after a short while, nasisira or nadedelay uli tapos mya2 ok uli and then nasisira nanamn…
as for the WoE bug, could it be that the hardware is already at its final stages before it dies out? or maybe its in the re-wirings that caused the bug..another cause is the anti-dupe script that manipulated some of the codes for the WoE part of the game..im just making hypothesises here ah..bka may tumama

im hoping for a better compensation package that can benefit the entire Baldur/Valkyrie community…matagal na ang hinihingeng compensation package for Baldur since the time of the merging pa…tapos now, Valkyrie which made its debut wid a hell lot of problems…say, free field manuals and extension or increase of EXP rates? or maybe events that gives away free gears…free time pwd rin sa mga naka-1wik/ 1 month subscriptions..

I Strongly Agree about the Overflowing of population in Valkyrie but it is NOT because of manual Players playing it but because of the HARVESTER BOTS.. 10K manual Players? I doubt it..

kung walang bot,walang dupe walang bug problems at WOE problems di ba, tau ang sumisira sa RO eh. ako nag start ako sa RO wala pang load noon, no problems pa or bugs, pero nang nag simula na ang bots
dun na simula na rin ang mga bugs at problem sa RO lumala pa nung lumabas din ang dupe, nanakasira di ng function at stability ,kung may ibang function din ang pumapasok di ba? parang virus sa level up ang bot at ang dupe eh, di rin ntin cla masisisi kung tau din ang gumawa na nakakacra sa RO di ba.
kahit lumipat ang ibang players sa RO2, kung ibang players ay gagawa ng paraan para magkaroon ng bot sa RO2, eh masisira din ang RO2 di ba, nasa atin kung gus2 natin baguhin ang RO na walang bugs or iba pang problems. UN lang ^^ ang masasabi….

hmmm.. as far as i can see sa service ng LU.. napapabayaan nah nila ang pRO.. ung mga Event-Related Vanguards, suplado at suplada.. i thought they should have a gould attitude towards players. sana nmn mag hire na kayo ng QUALIFIED tlaga.. look.. many problems na nagpatong patong sa inyo..
