Episode 18 Demise of Morroc is just around the corner. There are a lot of contents and features in that patch that will really change the way Ragnarok is played. However, there’s still more to come when Episode 19 finally makes it way to the Philippines. Yes, I’m talking about the 3rd Job Classes for Ragnarok Online. I’ve been doing overview posts on the various job classes and now I’d like to focus more on the Rune Knight. Before I begin, let me give you guys a bit of trivia. Did you know that the most created character in Philippine Ragnarok Online is the swordsman? It seems like a lot of people have aspirations of being knights, hehe.

Sprite Design
If you guys read the Ragnarok manga, you’ll notice that the concept sprite of the Rune Knight looks a whole lot like Chaos. The gems set in the bone-like metallic silver armor is a dead ringer for Chaos’ outfit. I’m not totally sure about the picture though but it also looks like the Rune Knight is wearing a trench coat of sorts or maybe a modified cloak? Regardless what he’s wearing, he definitely looks much more kick ass and modern compared to the Lord Knight and Knight sprites. The developers are really drawing inspiration from the manga, seeing as Guillotine Cross looks like Loki.
Rune Knight Job Class Overview
Knights and Lord Knights had attack skills but they were primarily built to become tanks in the battlefields. They didn’t really have the killing capability Champions and Assassins had but they could last a long fight. Rune Knights, on the other hand, are really more like walking weapons of destruction (LOL). Their skills are more offensive in nature and they will rely less on defensive armors like the current Lord Knight and Knight job classes.
To power their skills, they will be using a new source of energy called “Runes”. This reminds me a lot of the Death Knight Hero Class which is being hyped up in World of Warcraft.
Rune Knight Skill Names
Skill concept names were recently released in the jRO website. There are no descriptions yet on what these skills actually do but you can guess a lot based on the names alone. I personally like Crush Strike, Deathbound, and Dragon Howling. I dunno what they do exactly but I’m sure they’re powerful, lol.

just to add info: rune knights in the manhwa are already considered dragon knights. Chaos in the manhwa is actually a dragon knight (based on what odin said on his sub-conscious mode on a certain chapter that i forgot) and he was able to summon up a great dragon while trying to save payon from invasion.
regarding the skills, the dragon skills are not a surprise anymore to those who read the manhwa and so as the enchant blade. im just wondering if the ignition break, wind cutter or the sonic wave skill is the well known lithium split skill in the manhwa…millennium shield must be the rune-based protection shield chaos used to protect himself against himmelez. and the rest, the skill names look very promising ^_^

anyways, my classmates told me about a private server wherein characters can purchase something called rune of prophecies or whatever… when equipped, the character is surrounded by symbols (runes) much like how the monk is surrounded by spirit spheres.

Knights and Lord Knights in RO are very disappoiting. have you ever thought that this class is USING SHIELD YET DOESN’T HAVE BLOCK SKILL no wonder why this class is somehow so weak, think about it!it would be more realistic if it does have BLOCK SKILL and more challenging in fighting boss monsters. HOPEFULLY IN THIS 3RD JOB CLASS “RUNE KNIGHT” THEY SHOULD HAVE INCLUDE BLOCK SKILL WITH THE USE OF A SHIELD. wouldn’t be realistic and interesting?!!!
