As most of you know, it took PLDT MyDSL more than 2 months (from my application) to actually visit my unit last Saturday. I was really excited when I finally got their call. They dropped by the house and started fixing the wires. After a few hours, they came back to me and said that the DSL line wasn’t activated yet and they can only install the landline. They’d have to come back Monday. OMGWTFBBQ! Oh well… I’ve already waited for 2 months, what’s 2 more days right? However, the nightmare has only just begun. More horrible experiences with PLDT MyDSL after the break. Brace yourselves… this is not for the faint of heart.
Super super super… SLOOOOWWWW Speed
Come Monday, they finally installed the DSL. When I got home, I did a speed test and I found that I was only getting around 300kbps. The plan I’m paying for is PLDT MyDSL 1995 – which means they want me to pay P1995 for a crappy 300kbps connection? That’s just INSANE! I called their customer support and they asked for my details. I gave my name, phone number, and other personal information and… guess what? THE LINE I’M USING IS REGISTERED UNDER A DIFFERENT PERSON AND THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST ME!!! OMGWTFBBQ PART 2!!!
After some bullying skillz, the call center rep finally agreed to help me out. She made me do the stupid trouble shooting process and eventually told me that she can’t help me and they can only fix the problem during the day because their database is closed down during the night. OMGWTFBBQ PART 3!!!
Next Generation Network…what?!
I texted the tech guy who dropped by to physically install the connection just this morning telling him that I’ll cancel the subscription if they can’t fix the speed. He gave me a call and explained to me the situation. Apparently there was no DSL connection available that has the 2MBPS speed that came with my plan so they just gave me the crappy slow one. WTFOMGBBQ PART 3!?!?!?!?!??!?! Are they friggin’ serious?! This is just highway robbery! I mean isn’t a CRIME to do something like this? They are literally asking me to pay a MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION OF P1995 FOR A CRAPPY 250-300KBPS CONNECTION!? Excuse me but we’re not living in the 1980’s anymore for crying out loud!!!
Technician told me that he’ll do his best to get everything fixed so that I can get a line with the 2MBPS connection. I wonder if that means they’ll have to pull the plug on one of the other connections in my area? Lol. If not, I’ll have this subscription canceled and just wait for Bayantel to cover my area or I’ll probably switch to Globe. I know I work for a company that’s partly owned by PLDT but man… this is really disappointing. If I get into trouble for writing this, I won’t really mind because at the end of the day I’m just another frustrated customer of PLDT MyDSL.

Ummmmm just some eye opener for you so you dont blam PLDT about the speed if the mistake was yours all along… uhhhhh I might look like im defending PLDT I guess… But i’m not doing that ok? well umm im just gonna state some FACTS about DSL so you will know if the problem is you chose the wrong connection for you or you just happen to be extremely unlucky and they gave you sucky services
1. DSL means DIRECT SERVICE LINE
2. Before you get a DSL connection you have to check how close a PLDT center which will provide your DSL connection is to your home
3. Seen the advertisements of all DSL services? it always says “UP TO ____ kbps” or “UP TO ____ mbps” there is a reason for that. You see that simply means if you for example subscribed to a speed of 2.0 mbps that means the speed you will get will be from 0 mbps -> 2.0 mbps meaning you can have a speed as low as 0 mbps if it so happens that the network is congested and you are so far away from the server. I’m not sure about the exact maximum distance you need to have to get x mbps from a dsl connection though but here is a rough estimate http://www.dslreports.com/faq/4676
4. if the network is congested in your area or your too far from the main server that provides you of your from internet it doesnt matter what internet provide you choose because you will ultimately get a SLOW connection
5. As mentioned above distance matters a lot so even if you buy a connection with a cap of 1 million mbps (which doesnt exist) you can only get the maximum speed that your connection will allow (considering the distance and network congestion) and NO DSL PROVIDER WILL EVER WARN YOU ABOUT THAT that is why YOU HAVE TO DO THE RESEARCH YOURSELF by doing inquiries and research
—————-
As for the OMGWTFBBQ part 2 and 3 now that is a problem beyond your control and is definitely a mistake on their part but well we did warn you that PLDT support SUCKS so you should have expected that ^_^.. uh well I guess we didn’t clarify as to how much their support will suck now did we? so I guess that was our mistake I think..
As for your second OMGWTFBBQ part3?!??!?!! moment (yeah you have two OMGWTFBBQ part 3!?!?! im sure they meant that in your area it is impossible to get the speed cap that you subscribed for (because of distance probably). Im sure this is what they mean because they set the speed cap on the server they dont “install” it since we all get the same installation we just get different speed caps which is set on the servers depending on what we connection we applied for
I think what the technicians mean is that they will try to find a different route for you wires so that the wire from the server to your home will be at it’s best route… doubt they can/will do that though

So what should you do?
I think you should cut your subscription with pldt and look for a provider with good reputation and good connection in you area.. and choose bayantel or sky if they have good connection in you area ^_^
Peace out ^________^
Go kuya wauks!

The problem with PLDT is that they keep hoarding down all the customers that they can find but can they really handle them all? NO!!!
The PLDT MyDSL Nightmare CONTINUES | Waukster Online on July 21, 2009
[...] just got off the phone with the customer support agent for PLDT MyDSL about how they are ripping me off with giving me just a speed of 300KBPS for a plan that’s supposed to give me 2M…. OMGWTFBBQ PART 1 – the first agent tells me that I pressed the wrong dials and instructed me to [...]

Hi Lacerta,
Their CS Agent said at least 2MBPS and I was expecting that because when I was with Bayantel, I constantly got the speed that I was paying for.
Why then did I even bother going for PLDT? Because Bayantel and Sky Broadband isn’t present in my area yet. That and I wanted to give PLDT a chance since they are shareholders in the company that I work for. @_@
Read my latest entry for more info on what just happened.
Lacerta on July 21, 2009
she only said that because she speaks before thinking and checking things out.. see here
http://www.myworldmydsl.com/mydsl.aspx
it says “up to” 2 Mbps connection meaning 0 Mbps -> 2 Mbps
there is no such thing as a DSL connection that will say at least 2 Mbps and neither will there ever be any dsl provider that will say they will give you speeds of “at least” because that will be impossible for them to provide.
anyway I’ll comment on your new post ohoho

I had that same plan since 2003, paying P2,500 before, dropped til P2,000 just last year, Having 800 kbp/s at 2wire.com, they will insist on you checkin the speed on their on speed meter at speedtest.net

PLDT simply sucks bigtime. I got myDestiny, which is also a cum swallower. I’m changing to Sky next month. Please, I don’t want to see someone give me a lecture on loop length. I work for the mother of all telecommunications in this planet. Up to 2mbps and you only got .3? 1.5 is acceptable. 1 is bad. .3 is a ripoff. I agree to 1 of the comments – file a complaint to DTI. And what the mother cunt is 0-2 mbps?! Who would fookin give a 0 service? As far as I can recall, zero is none, nothing, nada. You would pay for no connection? Don’t give that 0-2 mbps fook.

“there is no such thing as a DSL connection that will say at least 2 Mbps and neither will there ever be any dsl provider that will say they will give you speeds of “at least” because that will be impossible for them to provide.”
You are misinformed. If you have preceded DSL with “residential”, I would agree. Business services have what they call service level agreements. And yeah, you can interchange the term to “at least”.
Hackademic on August 14, 2009
I’ll excuse your French JD, I definitely agree with you.
15% of the advertised speed is pure and simple freakin’ rip-off.

Guys, I’m gonna apply for pldt mydsl by next month. But with all these issues, I’m having second thoughts.
For safekeeping, what are the requirements for applying for mydsl?
Thanks, hope you can help me!
