Philippines Noontime Show Wars

Filipinos have always been fascinated with noontime shows. Eat Bulaga has made it big in both ABS-CBN and GMA 7. There was also a time when SOP and APO were big hits. Lately, the noontime show wars has been put into the spotlight because of the Wowowee Scandal. Joey De Leon, host of Eat Bulaga, threw the first salvo when he made “patama” remarks during one episode. Willie Revillame countered by doing a very dramatic and tear-jerking reply. Joey replied in kind, this time in a more brotherly and sagely tone. Watch Joey’s reply after the jump.

Personally I hope this gets resolved without the Phliippine Senate having to step in by doing a full blown investigation. I agree with a lot of the readers of this blog who have said that we should just put this incident behind us. ABS-CBN executives have already owned up to the issue anyway but they’re blaming it on a technical glitch which they say happens a lot in game shows. If ever ABS-CBN violated anything as per the policies of DTI, then they should just get sanctioned and everyone can move on. Lastly, I’d like to thank CIDLESS who gave me the URL of the youtube video which I posted above. Salamat pare!

  5. As they say, the hot & controversial the show is the more audience there is (more sponsors?) And I doubt there wud be a major sanctioned be implemented like the rumors during the stampede that some of ABS license will be remove or it wud be suspended for a while..

  13. Lol. Getting technical aren’t we? My post was in reply to Moff. It’s not about the hosts of the shows. If you’re so keen in remembering that then I guess you also remember when I said in one of my comments here that I hate Willie’s guts. Doesn’t matter which show he’s in or which channel.

  23. @moff. tama kau waukz should stop this issue or else more people will be aware about the questionable wilyonaryo gamesue (or should i say SCAM?). one question for moff, can you explain why there are two numbers in one wheel? it doesn’t matter cno ang host, joey man or willie it doesn’t matter, but can you explain why there are two numbers numbers in violet wheel? alin ang tama doon? it depends ano ba ung mahawakan ng host? … because until now the abs-cbn especially willie did not give any explanation in this indident. all they can say technical error. may be moff can give a better explanation so waukz can close this issue. sir waukz thanks for your blog at least we are aware of what is going on. i thought yong mga tricks sa casino filipino lang makita yon, i’m wrong.

    That part i admit is Willie’s weakness over this matter. So it all goes down with the “appearance of tears” now huh?. Don’t be too assured that a person who always sheds tears are harboring the appropriate intentions.

    Let’s put it this way, can you straight out accuse of a celebrity dancing in a noontime show segment that she TOTALLY intended it when her boob peeked out of her top when she was doing her dance?. IMO, this is also the same case with the Wilyonaryo case. They are production ERRORS. Please be vigilant on details rather than simply go on a damning spree.

  34. @mott thx sa reply. i agree that the first indicident you’ve mentioned is accidental. even sa wilyonaryo case it’s a mistake, dapat 2 ang lalabas hindi zero. hindi ko sinabi nandaya si wilie. the big question is how come there are two numbers in one wheel. that is one thing they need to explain. can you give a better explanation for that? because i’m waiting for abs-cbn black and white explanation about the two numbers issue and i haven’t read or heard one. when you say producxtion error what do you mean?


  35. @mott im not questioning the integrity of willie nor against his personality. The issue for me is not between willie n joey. i’m just asking for explanation so we will know if the game at wowowee is fair and the winner of a particular games is truly a winner and not bcoz of manipulation. even in RO, mag dc lang even 15 mins dami ng nagrarally sa prontera asking for GM’s explanation. others nagmumura kung ano-ano sa LU or GM’s. Because they want an explanation. I think the people just want an explanation. let us put this way also, what is your feeling if there is a doubt of fairness sa RPC or sa seige? ano kaya if there is a doubt sa mga RO players meron tinutulungan ang GM na guild para manalo. do you still enjoy playing RO? the only way we can enjoy the game if we knew that it is fair. the same way sa noontime show, we can fully enjoy the show especially the suspense sa games if he ca/she can get the 2m if we are assured that the winners deserve the win and it is by chance not because sa decision ng host. wala ng thrill if totoo and doubt ng tao na naa kamay ng producer or host kung kanino o kailan nila ibigay ang 2m na price or they opted for zero. ika nga ng LU “we just want to restore the integrity of the game”. d ba sir wauks?


  36. @ whiteman. i think lahat ng wheels may zero talaga. ang ginagawa lang nila is nilalagyan nila ng two sa harapan ng zero to indicate na two milion un. and base sa theory ko, nagkamali lang ang production sa paglagay ng two, dapat sa harap ng zero, and not sa likod ng zero. kaya natin nakitang may hinugot si willie. hindi ba?


  37. @ruby i think dat make sense. i’m just wondering if dat is also the explanation of abs-cbn or ur assumption only. kc if dat s the case wilie should explain it directly sa audience para mawala na lang ung doubt ng iba and will close the case. kaya lang it seems binale wala ang issue. to say na hindi me nandaya and production error is a very broad answer. if production error in what way naging production error? they need to explain it in details like what you did by explaining your theory. i just hope your theory is right and there is no intention to have 2 numbers in one wheel so the host has an option to decide which one to show, 2 ba or 0.


  38. @everyone… ano kaya if maraming nagrarally sa prontera asking for LU and GM’s explanation because of a particular problem. Then Gm T will post a buletin right there in our TV screen saying “I DON’T NEED TO EXPLAIN BECAUSE MARAMI PA NAMAN NAGLALARO. IF YOU THINK WE’RE CHEATING HUWAG NA KAYO MAGLARO. IWANAN NYO KAMI!” Thanks to waukz and Gm T they did the opposite. They have their own blog so they can reach out to the RO community and explain their side.

    lmao guys guys.. easy lang.. we really cant tell which one is true.. ganito lang kasimple yan.. they explained how the “wheels” work.. sa mga d nakaka intindi.. ganito un.. 1. ung pinaka background ng bawat wheel ay “zero” 2. bawat wheel ay may “cover” 3. may apat na iba ibang “layers” for the prizes which are added randomly to a random wheel. sa nangyari.. pwedeng aang nahila ng host ay ung “layer” ng prize and not the “cover.” kaya ang lumabas ay ung zero. pwede ring ang nahila nya eh ung “cover” at nasama ung “layer” (nagkadikit, since they are “films” pwede yan magdikit”) either way.. it’s possible na magkaroon tlga ng “ERROR” on 2nd thought, they cud be using the wrong strategy for the game. kc pwede rin nila gawin na ganito.. 12 wheels, all has a “Zero” as the base film or “background” then 2 wheels can have a “2m” film, then 2 wheels can have a “1m” film, then 2 wheels can have a “0.5m” film, then 2 wheels rin for the “h&l”. then if ever ang makuha ng contestant na wheel eh may “2m” pwede nila palabasin ung “zero” by just pulling “both” the “cover” and the “prize” films (but this will be very obvious since the studio is round so there will be some na makakakita nito, but again, they are films, pwede magdikit, or pagdikitin) and since dlawa ung “2m” film, pwede nila ipakita ung isa na hindi nakuha ng contestant.. yan ung mga possible na nangyari.. but either way.. isa lang result nyan.. we wud never know the truth.. lmao.. all we can do now is hayaan nalang.. coz whatever we do.. they are STILL helping people d b? either the game is rigged or not.. they are still giving away money.. kung production error man yan.. let it be.. kung rigged.. let it be parin.. there are people incharged naman to investigate.. wag nlng natin husgahan coz we wer not there and we really dont know what happend.. :) p.s. im not a kapuso neither a kapamilya.
