It seems like the medals will keep on coming for the gamers representing the Philippines! Last July, the Philippine Team made a very good showing at the Ragnarok World Championships 2007 in Seoul, Korea. They were able to take out Indonesia, Brazil, and Germany to bag third place (they lost to Korea). In a report posted in Hackenslash, another group of gamers were able to bring home to bronze medal in the recently concluded Asian World Cyber Games held in Singapore! This time the game played was Warcraft III’s Defense of the Ancients, more commonly known as DOTA.

Team FLOW represented the Philippines and they are composed of: Arby Ng, Jose Ena Uy, Bryan Ang, Marvin Jantzen Lu Tan and Alvin Villaguez. More about them and the World Cyber Games after the jump!
Fortunately, our winning streak didn’t end with Team FLOW. Israel Magante won first place in the Asian World Cyber Games Finals for the game Need for Speed! He won S$1,000 (29,900 PHP) which is more than enough to get him some new gadgets here in the Philippines, hehe.
This year truly is a milestone year not just for the online gaming industry, but more for the Philippine Gaming Community. We’re getting more recognition as world-class gamers and it’s only a matter of time before we reach our full potential and we start pawning everyone else (lol). Again, congratulations to Team FLOW and Israel! You guys did us proud.
