Philippine Senate to Probe Wowowee Scandal
In an unprecedented move by the Philippine Senate, the Wowowee scandal will be put under the spotlight as Senator Mar Roxas declared today that he will file a resolution seeking for a Senate probe on the alleged cheating. Apparently Wowowee’s segments are covered by the promo policies of the Department of Trade and Industry. The cheating can actually be considered a violation and Roxas, as the Senate Committee Chair on Trade and Commerce. I’m wondering if this issue will surpass the attention the Hello Garci 2 and Joma Sison incidents are getting.
“We will look into this [Wowowee controversy] by first asking the DTI [Department of Trade and Industry] what are the complaints, who are the complainants, and what it has done and intends to do about this matter,” Roxas, who chairs the Senate committee on trade and commerce, told reporters.
“Based on this information, we shall file an appropriate resolution for a Senate inquiry with the end goal of strengthening the Consumer Welfare Code,” he added.
But wait… there’s more! Joey De Leon, host of Eat Bulaga (competitor of Wowowee) also took some shots at Willie. Check out his statement after the jump.
During Thursday’s Eat Bulaga episode, De Leon said: “Para sa mga taga Senado, iwan nyo na yang Hello Garci at tingnan itong Hello Papie [For those in the Senate, leave Hello Garci and look into Hello Papie].”
“Hello Garci” is the controversy involving the leaking of purported wiretapped conversations between President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and former election commissioner Virgilio Garcillano that supposedly prove that the administration cheated during the 2004 elections.
De Leon said the probe is important because some hosts allegedly rig their contests in favor of some contestants.
“Ito’y para sa ating lahat. Gusto namin nagsasaya lalung-lalo na para sa mga naghahanap ng swerte [This is for all of us. We just want to bring joy, especially to those who are seeking their fortune],” he said.
It looks like the network war between ABS CBN and GMA 7 will heat up once again. This time around the Philippine Senate will be in the middle. What in the world is happening to our country? Lol. Aww geez, Joey de Leon again. I don’t honestly know if he’s just on his usual smart-ass streak or whatnot. IMO, he’s the number 1 GMA 7 celebrity fueling the Network Wars and it doesn’t help that he’s good at brainwashing people due to his “reputation”. Good luck to both sides i guess. Bah.

Hay Wauks. I also felt that “awa” that time I saw Willie crying at one of his interviews regarding the ULTRA tragedy. The best thing he should’ve done that time was to stop Wowowee and concentrate on helping the families. From what I heard the families weren’t satisfied with what little help given to them. Instead, they continued Wowowee as if nothing happened. Anyway, that’s a different issue. And I’m biased cause i don’t like Willie :p

anyway joking aside. i don’t care sa word war ni joey at willie. but at some point i agree with tonberry. there is a tendency na minimanipulate ni willie kung gusto niya manalo ang tao or hindi. there are many instances na tinutulungan niya ang tao to win. But to be fair ginawa ito ni willie not for himself. hindi naman sa kanya pupunta ung panalo. BUT… still it is manipulation.
Just watch wowowee and just be honest in your observation kung meron ba manipulation or wala. actually, i don’t watch eat bulaga. i like wowowee better than eat bulaga. sori joey walang personalan. but i will not defend willie blindly.

yeah, actually eat bulaga sucks. boring to da max. wowowee kasi nakikita mo talaga masaya ang mga tao, not to mention the guys drooling because of milagringand luningning. anyweiz, sometimes makita ko si willie nagcocoach sa player na kunin ung bayong sa pera o bayong. pag andun ung jackpot at gs2 nya na manalo ung tao, icocoach nya. manipulation wise, kaya nya gawin un pero i dont think na nagawa nya un sa wilyonaryo. ang naiisip ko na rason sa nangyari is andun na tlaga ung 2 milyon sa purple kaso pag bukas, ang zero nakita, ang 2 milyon, di nalagay ng maayos, dapat kasi nasa harapan ang 2 milyon dun at di ang zero. un lang ang nkikita kong fault. panuorin nyo ulit guyz. its not a manipulation ata, i think its a production fault.

@ruby ear, re:post 10, di naman talaga yayaman si willie sa show nya eh. ABS-CBN ang magbebenefit dun kung di binibigay ang prize since binabayaran pa rin ng mga sponsors AND donors yung show. re:post 17, i think too that it can be a production fault but.. as i said before there could also be two 2m’s 2 house and lots or even three 1m’s AND di ba dapat NO COACHING??? @anyone, it’s not that proEB ako, which i am, nakakainsulto lang minsan yung wowowee sa ibang tao kasi pinaglalaruan nila yung audience, oo natatawa ako sa kaek ekan ng mga tao but not the host nor the show. for me EB is a better production than wowowee’s monotonous sequence of lalabas si willie, kakanta ng “sa luzon, sa visayas, at sa mindanao”, then the “doo doo doo da da da”, etc everytime they start, and i think even on saturdays. and in EB they have these dynamic mini presentations to begin with. as for joey de leon, he just speaks his mind like anyone else it’s just that he is highly influential than others.

Agreed. In my opinion, this is just an issue na naging out of hand due to SOME people in the biz that seems to be getting blind due to old age.
Ni hindi ko nga makita kung ano yung “manipulation” dun. Talagang ang may mali yung production, wala naman siyang isinuksok o kinuha sa sarili nya e… galing talaga sa wheel so i believe na talagang production error lang yon.

Madali magbigay sa tao. Madali tumulong. Yun naman ginagawa ng mga politiko di ba? Yun ang nakikita mo pero meron underground work. Yung work na hindi natin nakikita which is “pagnanakaw”. Mas malaki pa rin nakukuha nila sa tao kesa sa binibigay nila na kung tutuusin e dapata satin talaga.
Let’s stop looking at the EB-Wowowee fight but the way the production was done. I’m not for or against any of the shows pero nakita ko na hindi maganda ang format ng game na ginawa ng Wowowee. It’s not production error. Ganun talaga ang format nung game. 0 talaga ang background ng lahat ng wheels then isuksok lang ung extra film which can be 2 or 1 or the house and lot. Having a “background” makes them capable of cheating whether they did it or not. lol

But base sa mga comments ng tao and sa news na rin, i think hindi naman sinadya ni willie and mali. may be ur right, production error un. simple as that. BUT, i think it is not enough na sabihin lang ni willie na hindi siya nandadaya. naniwala naman ang taong bayan sa kanya na hindi siya nandadaya. BUT he needs to explain why nangyari ang wilyonaryo incident. the poeple has the right to know sa explanation. O’ baka hindi ko lang narinig sa ibang news about their explanation. But sa youtube provided by sir waukz hindi ko narinig ang explanation.

For my part, eto lang masasabi ko.
1. I agree with those who say that the Wilyonaryo issue was a production error, for the same reasons.
2. IMHO Joey shouldn’t be shooting his mouth off like that. What the heck does he care? Di naman apektado siya and/or ang EB sa nangyari sa Wowowee ah. Walang pakielamanan. Pero siyempre, opportunity nga naman yan para mapataas ratings nila at mapalipat ang ibang tao sa side nila… so even if he puts someone down with his words, ok lang para sa kanya. Crap. That’s what you call crab mentality. /pif
