Philippine Ragnarok Online Weekly Update (3/27/08)
Today I’d like to focus more on the community concerns than the usual updates on what happens after maintenance. This is crucial since we’re currently facing a lot of problems and it’s important that you guys know what Level up is doing about it. First let me establish the fact that we’re not just letting everything slide. We acknowledge all of the bugs, glitches, and connectivity. This has been one of the company’s priorities because it affects the business badly both in the long term and short term phases. If there’s anything I’ve learned in almost 3 years of working for an online gaming company - that’s to make sure that the partner game developer should be very competent in terms of bug fixes and product development. As a game publisher, there are simply too many dependencies. If only I could mobilize a people power to force Gravity to fix all the bugs tomorrow (Lol).
Baldur Siege Monitoring
I need your feedback on this. Apparently Gravity applied some changes in the zone servers and we need to know if you guys are still experiencing bugs - especially for last night’s siege. If you encounter problems, DO NOT HESITATE to post a comment so I can immediately forward it to the Ragnarok team. Please be very SPECIFIC with the description of the problem. Don’t just say “lag po” because that’s really not helpful at all.
Valkyrie Disconnection & Map Crashing
Again - I need feedback. According to Gravity they were able to fix the map crash but I’m not 100% yet about the individual account disconnection. If you experience this, please indicate the frequency, map, and time of the instance.
Valkyrie Guild/Party Bug
According to the developers they were able to lower the delay down to 3-5 seconds. Can anyone confirm this? The Ragnarok Team is also testing but it would be good to get feedback straight from you guys.
Other Bugs
All the other bugs and problems (bots, rachel sanc, bugged items, etc.) that you guys shared in my previous post was escalated already to the Ragnarok Team. I’ll have an update on them sometime this week. For now we will focus on the problems that I stated above.
NEW PREMIUM HEADGEAR
It looks like we’re never running out of new headgear to sell, hehe. Here are three new items that will be sold across all servers:
Marcher Hat
A hat, when equipped, that plays holy music and refreshes its wearer. The wearer of this holy hat is guarded by an angel.
Adds a chance to use Lvl. 5 Angelus automatically when the wearer is physically attacked.

DRAGON MANIA @ VALKYRIE & VALHALLA
We have an exclusive update for the free-to-play servers. Basically they will have bonus EXP for Dragon-type monsters and we’re also releasing all dragon-related equipment. This includes the racial cards and the dragon slaying weapons. This is a good time to go down to Abyss Lake and power level on those damned Acidus Dragons!

Just want a confirmation. Will the x4 exp on Valkyrie be extended since the DELAY problem is still present. We need a good compensation ang extending the x4 exp on Valkyrie server WOULD be a good compensation.

knina lang wauks na experiance namin ung klase ng Bug na pag nag EC GM namin eh mappunta kami sa kawalan (black ung background tpos nakikita lang namin ung mga sarili namin). Black ung background ng room kasi nasa payon inn kami naka save. Tpos isa pa, pag respawn… sympre dapat sa savepoint ako babagsak, ang nangyari is napunta ako sa isang town na may tool dealer. Sory hnd ko na recognize ung place kasi.
Other Bugs na encounter ko kanina siege:
• DC (Yung tipong pag ka EC ni GM… DC at pag malapit ka na sa EMP DC nanaman)
• Delay party set ups
• Delay chat logs

baldur siege problems;
dc minsan kahit d ecall or d naman nag lalag bigla namang dc..
no guild - nawawala yung guild. lahat ng members including gm nawawalan ng guild pero pag nag alt+g ka meron naman…
im not sure kung nag eecall nga ba o hinde pero lahat ng members ng guild susulpot nglang sa isang map and sabog sabog sa mapa. like kadalasan sa agit house maps.
ang tanong ko lang man, bakit hindi nyo i pacheck sa mga tao nyo kung anu ba talaga nangyayari sa baldur? bakit kailangan kami pa ang mag sabi? diba yun ang trabaho dapat ng iba.. maintain, supervise whatever.. we want improvements and we want it asap.. baldur is going down, and its going down really fast…

3-5 sec delays are just for the morning….around 5000-6000 players….but when its 6000 above…it takes 15 mins… some are 1 hr…. u_u

3-5 seconds?
Oh god, Sir Wauks… 30-50 minutes is closer. There are even some maps that don’t even load parties and guilds. [Payon seems to be the most affected.] In some maps, about 10-15 minutes after the party loads, party members get disconnected. So again, we’d have to endure the bloody delay.
Valkyrie can’t cut it Sir. Even the NEW players that were enticed to play RO aren’t EVEN EXPERIENCING RO. I’m willing to bet that THOSE botting creeps in Valkyrie are THOSE OLD TIME RO players that have existing accounts in the commercial servers as well.
About that People Power thing, SET IT. If ever you do get serious about making one… SET IT.

ok now for my 2nd post :: (sorry for the 2nd post..i just have to prioritize the typo error first hehe)
for valkyrie disconnection & map crashing :: my character suffered valky dc at around 10 or 11+pm. the area is the tatami maze of the amatsu dungeon and the frequency is when my char. gets to some certain “block of the map” (since the map is full of squares and hidden walls)…i think its almost as often..another is my brother’s character. well, its not as frequent as what my char. suffered but its still a dc..morroc fild 6 is the map and it ocured at the evening around 9 or so…
for Valkyrie Guild/Party Bug :: i noticed if the char. has a party, then there is only a few probs but not that major.. but creation of a party would take as long as 30-90 mins..major bummer indeed…i think the same goes to the 1:1 chat system. i think it needs to be checked as well..
another concern :: me and my bro experienced a sudden lag surge at valky at around 11:30+pm today or so…im not xure if that is our dsl connection but the connection was working fine when we tried pinging websites and/or surfing the net…maybe u guys are fixing somthing there? ..just wanna check
anyways, ill keep u updates as long as im awake by midnyt ^_^

Typical Siege Problems:
chat messages get delayed
guild and party disappears, sometimes it comes back, other times it does not.
extremely random disconnections, anywhere savemap or castle maps alike
EC recalls members in random points or sometimes in unlikely points in save map (e.g. alberta’s ocean)

Heya chief, here are the problems I encountered during the Feb 26, 2008 siege in Baldur:
1) party chat and guild chat delays
2) PM chat are also delayed
3) DC upon Emergency Call
4) Usage of white potions delay maybe due to lag? (note I was using a Smart Bro Lan Cable ako nun… normally I don’t get lagged in Siege)
Hopefully these problems can be resolved soon. tc :)

dati naman ok yun sieges ng baldur. baket yung Tyr and Freya hindi affected sa mga ganitong
bugs.? It’s almost a month or so since nun 1st time nagkaron ng bug, up to now wala parin pag babago,
pa unti na ng pa unti ang nag ssiege kase nakakawalang gana na tlga.]
lalo na yun pag ecall. pag respawn mo wala kang guild. tapos magkkatmaan pa lolz.
anyway sana magawan AGAD ng paraan tong bug na to dahil madame talga mapapa quit kung

marami pa rin pong maps n sobrang delay ang party or minsan ndi n lumilitaw ang party pag nagexceed n po ng 6k ang population. mostly sa rachel maps, umbala maps, nif maps at einbroch maps po ang minsan ndi n lulitaw ang party at paminsan-minsan naddc rin..

pasulpot-sulpot po yung bugs during siege (baldur).. and still the same bugs/delays. sometimes hindi mo alam kung maaasahan pa EC, imagine nyo na lang naka def, tapos pagka EC, sa kawalan pa napupunta members.. kawawa naman mga guilds na nagtyatyaga pang mag siege..

Siege of 2/26 not to many bugs other than some chat lag and during the last half hr. when trying to get more pots from kafra I typed 100 and it came out in window as 1111. >.< In the past few WoE’s guild respawns many other places in city other than save point - including in the middle of air of Juno!! LOL

ung guild medyo ok na kaso lng sa loob ng pvp room gumagana ung guild ,pero ung party cra parin..

Sana nmn po ‘wag muna kau maga promote ng mga kung ano2x jan, like headgearsand such kc at the moment I think it is useless, ‘coz most of the players lost their energy to play RO because of the recent bugs/delays and everything related to the RO problems. Kahit na nga po ako eh nawawalan na ng gana maglaro, I’m a VERY avid fan or Ragnarok Online pro lately nawawalan na ako ng gana (I’m playing in Valkyrie Server) kahit na nga po may 3x at 4x exp na ndi ako masyado naglalaro kc nga sa delays sa server ko. Hahayzzz. Alam ko nmn po na ginagawa ninyo lahat inyong makakaya, salamat po dun. Bkit po noon sa Chaos Server khit 9k population ndi nag de-delay at bug? Kahit na nga sa Sarah Server noon.
Sana po ay dinggin ninyo ang aking hiling na sana ay maayos na ang Valkyrie Server at ang Delay sa Baldur at Valkyrie. Mabuhay po kau ^_^

Hi,
As requested, here are some of my observations.
Server: Valkyrie
1. When the population of online players reach 7k - 8k

Apparently, the developers were right BUT i have only observed it in maps like Aldebaran and clock tower because I mainly level there. So, I can’t say the same for other maps like payon areas and morroc.
2. When the population of online players reach 9k - 10k+
delay becomes 15 - 30 mins
Again, these observations are only within the Aldebaran and Clock Tower maps.
The Juno map however, can still retain the 3-5 second delay. We make our parties there, then we go back to Aldebaran to level at Clock Tower.
3. Other maps like payon and morroc seemed to have no parties at all. I haven’t seen my guild, friends, and party list on those maps. Maybe because I only stayed in those places an hour less.

-They said they reduced the delay by 3-5 seconds. Eh mas matagal pa nga ang DELAY ngaung kesa nung pumunta sila dito.
-Sa GH 2 hours ako nag wait para sa party at lumagpas pa ng 2 hours di man lang lumabas ang party.
-About sa disconnection sa certain maps. Dun sa Juno map kung san may Sleeper, Goat at Demon Fungus. Ilang beses na ako na DDC dun at nadedeads dahil timing na timing na maraming monsters akong tinitira tsaka ako na DDC.

to reduce lag pls delete your 3rd party prog like dual log in and true sight programs in other words hex programs… eto talaga ang nakakapag LAG ng server… most especially the dupe program… c’mon guys if you want na maalis ang lag tanggalin nyo or i delete nyo mga hex programs… edi hindi kau magrereklamo na naglalag ang server… pati yung walang hex programs nadadamay sa kalokohan nyo…

I agree with Judicator post#9. Instead of releasing and releasing new headgears, why not try a bit harder in solving the bug problems? I’ve heard from other online people that it seems LUG just milks money off of the players now..
By the way, what happened to the Chocolate Quest? I thought it was supposed to be available until March?
Paano na ang mga Top Brewer ng Chocolates? I know a lot of people who really stocked up on the chocolate ingredients in hopes of making LOTS of those food buffs this week!
Good luck to LUG in maintaining the Ragnarok Online servers.

There is a Delay of spawning of members right after You cast Emergency Call… and if you Die/get DC after you cast Emergency Call… members will spawn randomly in a map the GM is at. Delayed Party/Guild Chats. No Guild after EC… No guild after spawning…
Sieging members is at an all time low…
Please fix it… 1 month is too much for everyone…. our guild was once active and we had almost 90+ active siegers every siege… now we are reduced to 30+ and we are just barely holding on… we are trying to convince people to stay but even GM’s and veteran players are already losing interest…
Even I dont want to siege anymore… the only reason im still sieging is that i know that if i wont siege then 10 out of that 30+ siegers wont siege also…
I prefer that the servers go down for a day or two so that you could thoroughly test the problems that we are experiencing rather than waiting for another maintenance and see that nothing has changed other than new headgears are sold in the hypermart… as for the compensation id rather receive an exp compensation AFTER the bugs are fixed..
fix things now…. compensate after….

Un EC bug nangyari din sa WOE sa Freya last 2/26. Pag nag-EC un GM, sa savemap kami lumalabas at kalat kalat pa, pag minsan trapped pa sa map, un tipong black na un inaapakan ng char at labas na sa map…
sana i-prioritize un concerns ng players kesa mag-release ng mag-release ng bago headgears…
sana din matingnan un concerns ng players ng mga commercial servers, kasi lagi na lang F2P…
equal attention po ang hinihingi namin…

1. Guild, Party & PM Delays
2. EC. (Kung saan saan nlng po napapadpad yung mga ibang players..)
3. Nawawala po yung guild name minsan.. w/ Emblem..
4. Dupe. D tlga xa kasali sa siege hehe. Pero minsan, kinakabahan na po yung players sa pag bili ng mga items na napaka mura. Tapos pagkatapos na ilang linggo. La na. Sayang pera ng mga player.
NOTE:
Kaya if I were LUG, Stop ko po muna yung pag gawa ng Hypermart Headgers. Gawin nlng po natin yung sa game muna, responsibility nyu rin po kasi yung mga player. Kung hindi iningatan, mawawala, kung hindi mawala, gagawa ng parang angry mob. (LOL) Mejo marami na rin po yung mga naaasar dahil dito. Pero mukhang Baldur lang ata may sira. Bat sa ibang server wala namang nag rereklamo? Kami lang ba talaga? Para na po kaming test server dito na puro bug. Sana nlng, maayos nyu na. Yun lang masasabi ko.

^^ paanong di masyado delay sa inyo kanina eh sa amin napunta ata delay nyo eh yung mga naririnig ko na problems sa server nyo sa amin napupunta… dati inaangal nyo yung matagal loading ng party at guild…. kami di namin na eexperience yun… pero kanina na experience na namin.. last siege walang guild lang at lag yung party chat at guild chat….. yugn siege kanina wala ka party wala ka guild…. wait ka 1 minute lilitaw yugn isang kaparty mo.. kung sampu kayo siguro gma 10 minutes lilitaw na lahat! that is kung di ka mag rerecon…. and that is kung hindi ka maddc sa kinatatayuan mo….

Pls lang ibalik na ang mga hardware ng baldur. wag na ideny na wala kayong pinalitan obvious na obvious pinagpalit ang mga hardware ng valkyrie n baldur. kung bug yan dapat pati sa tyr n freya meron din. Alam namin malaki kita nyo sa valkyrie pero temporary lang yan dahil pag lumakas na mga tao dyan dami nanaman magsisilipatan sa bago nyong server. unlike sa baldur 4 yrs na mga loyal customer nyo kaya sana naman wag nyo kami balewalain

I agree with Indulgence, are the koreans still in this country? the problems with Valkyrie actually got worse!
Mas gugustuhin ko nalang ung mahirap mag login pero pagpasok mo ok na yung server kesa ganitong madali nga ang dami namang problema… you even try to update everything when it comes to headgears and restrictions on trading/dealing items, but don’t you people know that we’ve been enduring all the problems of our beloved Valkyrie?
This is just one big question though… Why can some private servers maintain the quality of the game and why can’t Gravity? Eto lang talaga pinagtataka ko eh…

Di kaya yung mga dupe items ang sumisira ng server during seige? Kelan usually ginagamit ng mga players nang sabay2x ang mga dupe items? Diba sa seige? Wauks may nangyaring selective dupe wipeout ba talaga? You mentioned the other day that LUG/Gravity have already tried various ways of fixing these problems. Have they tried removing the dupes?

Comment: Bugs will aways be a part of any online game. Pero sana naman kung gagawa kayo ng compensation dahil sa mga bugs na yan yung PARA SA LAHAT NAMAN SANA. HInde yung iilang malalakas na guild lang makikinabang gaya nung last na pakulo niyo.
