Philippine Ragnarok Online Weekly Update (1/23/08)

Before anything else, let’s take one moment of silence and pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Heath Ledger who was found dead inside his apartment yesterday. I was really looking forward to watching the Dark Knight because of his portrayal as the Joker. Anyway, may his soul find rest in the arms of God. Moving on, let’s go to the weekly update for Philippine Ragnarok Online.

2X EXP VALKYRIE
Confirmed. Valkyrie will be on 2x (instead of 1.5x) until the connectivity issues are resolved. Note that this isn’t the compensation, this is just something to make everyone feel a little better. Announcements should be up on the website in a few minutes.

Diadem & Dark Randgris Helmet
As mentioned in my post last night, there are two new premium headgear available in the Item Mall - the Diadem and the Randgris Helm. Both headgears are extremely useful for their respective classes. Both are priced at 350 PHP (7,000 Rok Points). For more information on these two headgear, please click here.

Rings of Light & Darkness

COMMUNITY ISSUES
(From Last Week)

I just checked the previous weekly update and most of the comments there talked about the potential character transfer service. I’ll open that up for discussion in a separate post. Since there wasn’t any other urgent topic brought up, I’ll just give an update on the major issues.

Valkyrie Connectivity
Our local Gravity Staff just sent their full report to the head programmer in Korea. The team of specialists should be flying in within the next two weeks. Hopefully when they get here they can FINALLY FIX the damn connectivity problem. Please note that this is our number 1 priority right now and we’re really doing our best in trying to resolve this at the soonest possible time. You can all look forward to having a compensation week when this gets fixed.

Selective Dupe Wipes
This starts today. If the logs show you’ve been a very bad boy, then we will wipe your account. This will take some time to implement though since the GM Team will be manually hunting down and investigating the cheaters. This is the only way to do this right so we won’t make mistakes and affect innocent players. If you guys have any suspects, we would really appreciate it if you could file a ticket indicating the character name and the server. Just file it as a player misconduct case and our CS Team will take it from there.

Blog Contest Prizes
I’ve e-mailed most of the winners of the top-up cards last week. I’ll e-mail the second batch today. If you won a top-up card and you don’t receive an e-mail by tomorrow, please send a follow-up e-mail. To winners with hard prizes, I’ve already packed the items for fedex. It will be sent out starting today. This was delayed because I still don’t have all the addresses of the winners.

Lastly, regarding the Valhalla Rachel Sanctuary, it should be fixed soon. It’s already escalated to Gravity as a bug since in our tool we’ve already turned it on but it’s still off for some people (weird lol). That’s a wrap! Hope you guys have a good week.

  3. Naku,paano yung mga bugged accounts ng Valhalla Players? Hindi sila maka-log in dahil pag nag lo log in sila, laging sinasabi naka-log in na sila ibang server, pero di naman. Kawawa naman silam please help them.

  5. @Artemis: That’s a major issue. I’ll talk to the team about it this morning and do an update to this post regarding that within the day. We’ll try to fix it during maintenance.

  7. Papa Wauks yung sa Dupe Issue… Katulad din ba nung dati… Wipeout din yung item na nabili nmin pero hndi nmin alam na dupe sya… Magkakaroon ba ng conflict yung character na may dupe item pero hndi sya yung nang dupe, nabili lng? May compensation ba sa mga affected players ng dupe? Thnx!!!

    Here’s some idea about it.
    If a certain player have many dupes items on his storage and inventory then even if he’s not guilty his account would be wiped. Well players can’t make an alibi that it isn’t their fault that they bought plenty of those dupe items since they are the ones should be aware of the duplicates scattered all over the place specially on commercial servers (Tyr, Freya, Urdr, Baldur).

    @regarding Heath Ledger
    Now he is now the Legendary Joker of all time beaten all that have played the role of Joker. His acting is beyong the normal actor have ever done for such role. He would be memorable to anyone.

    @Wauks
    The dupe wipeout shouldn’t be announced if they able to connect after maintenance they would try to sell their goods and escape such misery that would befall them. I hope this time they would suffer for good given that today it would be settled.

Selective Dupe Wipes: HELL its about time… AGAIN! hehe, malamang marami n nman madadamay nito na inosente.. sana macompensate mga inosente or kahit maibalik lang man zenny/item during pagtransac nla ng deal.. at sana po perma/IP ban na tlaga ung mga proven dupers.. pwd po kaya magpost na tlaga kau sa pRO site ng hall of shame for proven dupers.. and one more thing po, lag latency ng commercial worlds? kumukunti tao mas lalo nmang maLAG.. map crashing?hex of true sight w/c make things LAG? painvestigate narin po fafa wauks.. tnx ^_^

  25. i was watching CNN and everything they were discussing was endless US politics. but suddenly, the ticker (the moving one-liner headlines at the bottom of the screen) was reading “This is CNN Breaking News: Actor Heath Ledger found dead….” and everything on that ticker was only related to that headline. i learned about it and it was about 1 1/2 hours after his body was found by the housekeeper.

    when i learned that he was playing joker in the dark knight movie (i saw the trailer and he was really looking ‘crazier’ than the other actors who played joker) i realized that aside from brokeback, which was certainly a very very good film to boost his career, playing batman’s mortal enemy is one big role he should be proud of doing.

    sad to see though that he died in a miserable way, due to sleeping pill overdose. one of the topics of larry king tonight was that of keith ledger and one of the guests said that while playing the joker for the movie, the attitude and mindset of the character got the best of him. it seemed kinda vague but the guest added that he somehow had problems with his life or something like that due to him playing the role

    i guess if that’s true, keith just had problems managing his life through that time of playing joker… i mean, if he had ‘control’ then he wouldn’t need sleeping pills to get himself to slumber.


  26. honestly i was shocked that Heath Ledger was found dead due to overdose..(or is it overdose?) because he doesn’t seem to have any problems at all in everything… it was just so sudden and to think that he is only 28…darn it! what could have gone wrong??…

    i guess we could just hope that he is now happy in the next life..


  27. Sir wauks, follow up on Artemis’s post. di pa rin makalog in account namin.still connected to another server pa rin ang sinasabi /pif. Filed 3 cases already and still not resolved. laging sinasabing itry mag log in na lang daw sa ibang server. tried it alread, hundred times,pero ganun pa din.

    d pa rin sya naayos, last week pa to after maintenance. mga naabutan ng maintenance ang affected.pls fix it

    Pakitrace at pakibura din po yun please. Napakayabang nila pinagmamalaki pa nila na nabili nila yun bago na-ban yung mga supplier nila.

    It’s not enough na na-ban yung nagdu-dupe. Ban or Wipe the players who hoarded dupe items din.
