Philippine Ragnarok Online HyperMart Teaser: Gym Pass
We’re currently testing a new premium item which will be made available on all Philippine Ragnarok Online servers within the month. The item is called “Gym Pass” and you can actually use it to permanently increase your weight carrying capacity! You can buy up to 10 Gym Cards and increase your total weight capacity by 2,000. That’s like having +66 strength which is really nifty if you think about it. You can carry more potions and equipment without having to go 50%-90% overweight.
Gym Cards increase your weight capacity by 200! Maximum of 2,000.
Mechanics on how to use the Gym Card after the jump.
GYM CARD PREMIUM ITEM MECHANICS
Step 1: Use your Rok points to purchase the item Gym Membership Card Box from the Cash Seller NPC (the Valkyrie version in F2P servers).
Step 2: Open the box and you will acquire the item Gym Membership Card. You cannot use this item on your own. You will learn how to use it in the next step.
Step 3: Go to the NPC named Saint Gravity in Prontera (prontera 150 280).
Step 4: Talk to Saint Gravity and he will let you learn a new skill which will increase your weight capacity by 200.
Step 5: You can purchase additional Gym Membership Card Boxes to raise this skill up to Lv 10 for a total weight capacity increase of 2,000.
Each card will probably cost around 1,000 Rok Points. It’s pricey since this is a permanent thing for your character. It’s like you increased your STR by 66 points or you got level 20 of the Extra Weight Limit Skill of the Merchant… or you have 2 Peco Pecos. Lol.
Note that this will be patched across ALL SERVERS and not just Valkyrie.

Paladins and Lord Knights who wouldn’t mind carrying the extra heavy armors… 2 Megings suddenly felt lighter…
500 Php for 2k extra carrying capacity? This is definitely going to be a best seller… Its kinda pricy though if you’re gonna avail of this for each one of your characters…

Kase ang kagalingan ng isang tao sa pagpilot ng specific character, naguumpisa sa pagplaplano ng build.
Hindi madali ang pagplano ng build especially ang pvp build, dahil dapat mababalance mo ng mabuti ang stats mo.
Halimbawa isa kang wizard, alam nating lahat na ang wizard para maging mahusay at maganda ang cast time dapat mataas ang int at dex at may ample amount of vit para mabuhay. Which leaves less stat points if none for strength para sa carrying capacity ng potions. It is now up to the wizards kng paano nila BABALANCE yung stats nila in such a way na they have good dex for great cast time, enough int for decent damage, enough vit for survivability, and enough str for carrying pots.
eh kung may gym pass, edi nagbayad na lang lahat ng character para tumaas ang weight limit nila. hindi na icconsider ng mga tao ang weight limit para sa pag-gawa ng character which i think will make the game kinda boring in a way.
siguro nasasabi ko to dahil i am a sniper who values STR so much. Naisip ko it will be unfair for me and the other people who considered putting str to boost their weight capacity tapos biglang ilalabas niyo ang ganyang item.
at isa pa kng may gnyan edi ubusan ng pots ang labanan sa pvp haha. tapos yung may mga megingards, pwede na gumawa ng builds na 20 str 99 luk 99 agi (kung sinx) or 20 str 99 dex 99 int (for monks) kse hinde na nila icoconsider maglagay ng mataas na base str for carrying pots dahil nga may gym pass naman.

kahit magiging pabor sya sa build ko, ayoko magkaroon ng imbalance sa ragnarok dahil lang sa isang cash item. it would be good kung mas mahirap pa dyan yung pagkuha ng skill, parang the sign quest. pero kung dahil lang sa ROK points, IMO nakakasira un ng planning ng build.
maraming character ang naglagay ng str na ang purpose ay para lang sa weight limit. sobrang imbalance nyan kung maglalabas kayo ng ganyang item

i agree w/ jc this game is based on stat management para maging effective ang char. if may ganyan its kind of unfair para sa iba na talagang pinagisipan build nila. pero sa iba na basta lagay ng ng stats this would be good. pero im against this item kc hirap mag icip ng build tapos biglang sulpot item na yan kinda sucks…

Personally I feel that this is simply an optional thing for you. If you don’t want to take advantage of it, then don’t. Nakatipid ka pa ng P500 PER CHARACTER (note na hindi siya per account, so that’s 9 characters x P50 per pass x 10 passes = P4500 per account).
And you don’t even have to max it if you want to take advantage of it, so it’s really your call if you’re gonna use this or not. This is just a way to make STR-less builds have a better “playing field” with those builds that DO have the STR for more potions etc.
Siguro ako kahit mga level 3 lang kunin ko para sa mga character ko na walang STR or onti lang STR, 600 extra weight is already 40 more meat, pwede nang pang level ^_^

Tama ka na optional to pero ang point is, mashado nang dadali ang paggawa ng isang PVP build ng isang character. Ang paggawa ng build ng isang character ay isa sa mga pinakamagagandang parte ng paglalaro ng RO, ito ang nagseseparate ng RO sa ibang laro - yung paggawa gawa ng build. Sa paggawa ng isang build, SOBRANG DAMING THINGS TO CONSIDER, cast time (dex), hit rate(dex), and matk (int). So meaning, ang mga hindi STR-based characters, hinde na need mag-isip ng magandang pagsspread out ng stat points dahil sa gym pass na to. hinde na nila need mag lagay ng STR, todo pump na sila sa ibang stats kaya nga yang gym pass n yan, parang +320++ stat points for 500 pesos. parang nabibili narin ang stats kung maiimplement yan kaya i strongly oppose the implementation of that item.

Yung isang ethical problem lang na nakikita ko dito ay ang unfairness niya to those people whose characters normally don’t have strength but incorporated strength into their builds for the sole purpose of having a higher weight capacity. Medyo nakakafrustrate nga siya sa mga taong iyon kasi they missed out on optimizing their stat points.
Well, with whatever they throw at us = adapt.
Besides, after all the non-equipment hyper mall items that are finite in quantity and/or duration, I rather welcome something of permanent use. Undeniably, its worth its weight in gold.

Para dun sa mga nag rereklamo.. isa lang explanation kung bakit ok lang etong item na to.. You yourselves are not excluded from buying this item. if you think about it, your wizzes or whatever class you may be, since na nilagyan nyu ng strength yan… you will have better potting power due to your higher weigh carrying capacity. So, let them build their stats with no strength.. who cares?! diba? You still have the edge since you still have more weight carrying capacity than them. pwede pa pang melee… hehe.. joke lang yung tungkol sa melee. Anyway, I am in no position to force anyone of what i feel or believe. Just voicing out my opinion. peace!

We really just have to learn to adapt. Besides, with the upcoming patches especially WOE 2.0 wherein the agits are HUGE maps where bloody skirmishes would definitely take place, it’ll be logical for players to have the means to carry more restoratives and whatnot for greater survivability. Not to mention the upcoming new maps and MVPs (Like the much awaited, all powerful Satan Morroc), everyone’s gonna be needing those extra weight carrying capacities.
This Gym Pass may have its cons, but it also does have its cons. This is merely a new variable thrown into the playing field of pRO. Like all the other past updates, lets do what we’ve all been doing = adapt. /no1

oh well too late to whine… item malls are implemented in major RO circles like kRO, iRO and jRO… we just follow suit… so expect such nerfs/features/headgears to be implemented also here… just like the ME nerf… and the Kasa nerf… obviously LU has eyed the gym pass as profitable because majority of RO players love WoE and/or PvP… and some or most (including me pero sa wiz lang ako) will be suckers for the gym pass… la lang random musings

Almost everyone has good points.. pero reikoku is right, updates were already implemented in other countries that do have RO. I guess will just have to make new characters to perfect our builds, again. (as if naman uso pa ang manual leveling) hehe..
My advise is to “read updates”. The gym pass has existed for a while now. Double the pots, Double the fun?! Don’t be shocked if one of these days we might see the SG10 scroll in our commercial servers. Certainly more controversial than the gym pass.
There are a lot of new items around that will certainly change the aspects of the game. New cards, equipments and nerfs. Like items from Satan Morroc, the seemingly imbalanced cards like the lordknight, or assassin cross card. We’ll just have to adjust. The game certainly got interesting for everyone.

Also according to some sites, you just have to talk to the NPC again when you transcend to regain your weight limit. Which I hope will work perfectly when it is implemented in our servers. The new God-like items kinda suck. hehe..

If you simply think about the different aspects of RO, then the item itself is more of a help.
PvM, more time for leveling and not having to go to storage most of the time to get leveling items or to just avoid getting overweight.
MvP, gives you more option to bring more potion and more items to at least make your battles with the boss Monster more viable.
PvP, HW, Snipers, Dex and Int Dex Stalkers, Creators are the outright beneficiaries of this item, but I could see viable uses even for strength base characters.
WoE, well this should make it harder for defenders since attackers could bring more potion, and armors to enable them to break through the defenses. But ultimately, it should make the defenders become more strategic than just relying on camping.

Business is business at ayaw namin mawala ang pRO kaya kung iimplement to ok lang. the price is reasonable but to be fair sa mga naglagay ng str stats just to gain more capacity to carry items sana mag offer na rin kayo ng stat reset item/service sa hypermart a week after.

hindi naman sa pagiging nega no. kasi kung pera lang pag-uusapan, haha. sus. hindi un prublema sa amin. syempre ang iniisip din naman namin un buong game. oo mas maangas pag marami bitbit na pots, not to mention ung mga uber heavy items like godlike equips(megs) at bloody shackle ball (atk+50). pero masyado OA yung +2000 weight. imba siya in a way (depende sa point of view mo). sana medyo kaltasan naman ng konti.

Sa mga naglagay ng str sa kani-kanilang builds (kasama na ko dun), look at it this way na lang = EVEN MORE CARRYING CAPACITY!
It’ll also help to think of this update as a “New Skills” update (as due to the description, the Gym Passes let you “learn” a skill to carry more). Remember when the new Transcendent skills came out? (e.g. AB, Sacrifice, Shield Chain, etc.) People started new characters with new builds to compliment the new skills. You can do the same with this.
Of course, that’s just an option. As for me, content na ko sa current characters ko and their builds. The Gym Passes just give em some extra weight limit. /no1

– Sir, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the Enlarge Weight Limit of the merchant only increases the weight limit by 200, thus, when maxed (Lv.10), it will result in an additional 2,000 weight limit but in your statement, “level 20,” that will result in 4,000 additional weight limit. So.. this must mean that it is a typo, right?

Check nyo po sa mga stats calculator. 2 Stats calculator po yung pinagbasehan ko and I think they are pretty much up-to-date.

questions regarding Gym Pass:
1. Pag 2nd job yung nilagyan ng gym pass, macacarry over ba sa same character pag nag trannscend?
2. If yes sa #1, kelan siya macacarry over? pag nag high novice? high 1st job? or transcendent job (high 2nd job such as Sinx and LK)?

I as a player with all my usually non-STR-based characters think the only irrational solution for the ‘already incorporated’ STR builds on non-STR-based characters would be a *Stat Reset* item which would cost at least as much/more than the Neuralizer. It’s really unfair for us (Alright, for personal gain: JCreator, asintado08, at yung iba pang mga batang naglagay ng STR para sa konting ATK na tumama sa high DEF at para sa WEIGHT LIMIT), unless of course you’re going to tell me STR has its use on my Hunter/Scholar/GM Stalker.
I can easily afford to work overtime to catch that item on my character, so don’t hit on my already in-debt budget.
BUT! I also know the very bad cons of having a Stat Reset item in the Hypermart. For now, the only rational solution I know (Yung mga battle Mastersmiths pwede maging forger anytime, yung Esma Soul Linker pwede maging GM type, etcetera) would be to just buy the item or make another character.
