I’ve been planning on posting more community-centric topics but problems keep surfacing lately that I really have no time to interview gamers or LU employees anymore, hehe. Anyway, for this evening, I’ll just talk about some of the hottest issues that have been mentioned via comments left on this blog. This includes: Valkyrie Connectivity, Valkyrie Bots, Commercial Server EXP Drought, and Commercial Server Dupe problem. Take note that anything I write on this blog is NOT official. You’ll have to wait for announcements posted on the website for it to be taken as official LU news and updates. I appreciate any constructive comments and suggestions. Please be warned that I’ll be enforcing the blog policies on comments, especially in sensitive posts like this.
Valkyrie Connectivity
The Valkyrie Connectivity issue is actually two problems. First is the log-in and the disconnections. The second is the guild chat and party bugs which make it hard for priests to level. Level-up! has been working closely with Gravity on this for the past month. We’ve already tried removing the original anti-bot but both problems persist so it means that this has nothing to do with the anti-bot which we patched several weeks ago. This Wednesday, we will be switching the servers of Valkyrie to the very expensive and high-end servers that we bought for Ragnarok 2 (at least we get to use ‘em). Gravity also sent an alternative hardware set-up that we will be testing. Regarding my earlier comment on flying people to Korea to knock some sense into Gravity, we did the opposite: we flew in engineers from Korea to work with our local team to solve the problem. Note that I am not 100% sure that the problem will be fixed on Wednesday. I can only join you guys in hoping for the best at this point in time. If I had direct control over the problem, believe me, I’d fix it in an instant if I could.
Valkyrie Bot
While the original anti-bot was successful in eliminating a lot of third party program users, there are still a significant number of violators. We’ve actually already applied the third-party software solution but it also didn’t work. Our supplier for that is already working on a fix while Gravity promised to deliver an in-game anti-bot system sometime early January. As soon as I get details on the new in-game anti-bot system, I’ll let everyone here know. Again, please note that these dates and information are TENTATIVE. I am not the developer so I have no control on what will happen in Korea.
Commercial Server EXP Drought
All I can say for this issue is for you guys to wait. There was already a mini-announcement on this in my old post. I’m 100% sure that we have something for December, it’s just a question on when and how long.
Commercial Server Dupe Problem
We’ve been getting reports that the DUPE problem is back on commercial servers. I’ve already asked for a complete item count to pulled out from the DB and we will compare this with the data from 1 month ago. Based on this information, the RO Team will take the necessary steps to safeguard the integrity and balance of the game. If there are any guilty people caught exploiting this, then they will be permanently banned. I strongly suggest that everyone also refrain from buying expensive items for now.
That’s it for most of the controversial Ragnarok issues. I believe I’ll be able to give you guys a lot of good news starting Wednesday since we have a lot of Holiday promotions lined up. I’ll post on what will happen this Wednesday tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.

well, tanks for the assurance. At least it shows that you have some concern sa mga disappointment or frustration of RO community.
I just hope that the LU poeple are sincere of their desire (if meron man) to solve the problem.

Yeah! Andaming bots sa valhalla! Wala ba kaming anti bot program? Huwag sana yung katulad sa valk dahil nagkagulo-gulo sila doon dahil sa program. Estimate ko sa Valhala population is this, 80% people, 20% bots (and they seem to be growing everyday!).

There isn’t a miracle patch for bots.
The game is made of communication between client and server. If the official client is changed and a compatible client is put in its place, there’s no way the server can identify it, therefore botting occurs.
Any patch that goes into the official client can be analyzed because it will be on botters hand too. But the server could possibly activate the patch only for very short periods of time (say, randomly once a week) and preferably with no server restart. That way botters would have a tougher time to experiment. Clients that failed the protocol could be logged silently and banned later.
The other point is account creation. If somehow LU manages to stop abuse, even a working bot client can do nothing with no account to bot on. Real world bureaucracy can put anything to a halt.

dupe problem back again??? you got to be kidding me…i thought the anti-dupe script program is being runned every week? T_T
regarding the bot problem, i have read a comment on the “11.2 Veins MVP Upgrade: More Ruthless and Devastating!” post and i think its a good idea that all distributers and gravity work together to prepare a anti-bot script. like they say: 2 or more people working for the same cause would further solve the problem. but on contrary, its the players responsibility as well to keep the integrity of the game. players, no offense but the more we bot, the more we destory the game itself. (it is already evident on connectivity problems and issues in valk and val). moreover, ethics must be played upon playing the game. take note that this is OUR community we are destroying.

nakakapagtaka.. pag naubos tao sa commercial servers syempre migrate sila sa F2P servers… ang problema ung mga items na papasok.. ung galing sa commercial servers pinaghirapan lahat items lalo na boss cards pero ung nasa F2P binayaran lang… now masisira uli balance… pera kasi sa ulo e… wala lang its just something sa ulo ko na baka mangyari in the near future.. but in the long run alam ko ang mangyayari… masasayang lahat gastos kasi phase out RO… time will fade it away.. lol…
