The most anticipated MMORPG in the Philippines, Ragnarok Online 2, is gearing up to launch next year to give way for more feature development. To those who were able to go to the World Trade Center for Level-up LIVE, you could actually have a hands-on demo on the Alpha/Beta Client at the Game Trial area. The current features available are the job change system, Norman race, Norman job classes, personal weapon system, and certain areas in the Rune-Midgard map. The game is still incomplete but it really shows a lot of potential especially if Gravity makes good on their promise to add more innovative features in time for the launch in 2008.

INQUIRER.netRAGNAROK ONLINE, which started the online gaming craze in the country when it was released in the Philippines by Level Up! Inc. way back in September 2003, will have a brother sometime next year. Ragnarok Online 2 is currently being developed by South Korean firm Gravity and those who attended Level Up! Live at the World Trade Center from Nov. 3 to 4 got a chance to play an alpha version of the game.
Level Up! Ragnarok product manager Carlo Ople gave hackenslash a demonstration of the game and so far, it is looking great. The game has been totally redesigned from the original. Instead of using 2D sprites and pre-rendered backgrounds, RO2 now employs Unreal Engine 2.5, an updated graphics engine that makes RO2 a true 3D game.
Thanks again to Alex, Joey, and Erika for covering the event. I’ll be posting more updates on the new features for Ragnarok Online 2 in the coming days. I’m in constant communication with Gravity and they’re due to send the 2007 Q4 RO2 Development Update Report soon. Once I get it, I’ll share it with everyone here.

I think ok lang isabay ang RO2 sa RO1.. iba ang RO1 sa RO2.. for sure di mawawala ang RO1 basta-basta kahit ilabas na nila ang RO2.. I personally won’t switch to RO2 right away kung sakaling ilabas sya at anjan pa ang RO1.. and sinabi na rin ng level up! na tuloy pa rin ang RO1 kahit may RO2 na.. so your opinion may be wrong.

In my opinion, dapat irelease na nila ung RO2 ksi the more they delay the more the expectations will be. Pag hndi umabot sa expectations ng players yan sure loose ang RO2…. they can make adjustments naman even after release…

Sir Wauks… do you think ro2 will be a hit… if LU would still release new episodes in ro1, aren’t we putting large cost for our ro1 players on playing ro2… another thing is, internet cafe owners are making second thoughts if they are going to offer ro2 when it is released… their units don’t support ro2 yet and they said it’s too risky to upgrade… wat do you think /?

Astig ang bagong RO2 ngayon… much more like the first one. Pero definitely enhanced siya + new job professions. Hay sana naman kunin na ng levelup toh agad. Plan daw na marelease this 2010 and RO2 Legend of the Second pero ewan kung kelan kaya sa pinas. Well sana lang malaru ko pa toh before maging super busy and life ko preparing for the future. This game ruined some parts of my life. Kaya sana naman kahit minsan ma up na yung RO2 Legend of the Second from our local servers. Tiyak ako astig at patok toh. Ayaw ko na ng RO1 nakakasawa na ang overcrowded pront dahil maraming bots. Gusto ko naman fresh new start at may magandang community talaga tulad ng dati.
