Philippine Politics Poll: President Estrada’s Verdict
November 13, 2000, the Philippine House of Representatives impeached President Joseph Estrada. House Speaker Manny Villar approved the motion filed by the minority congressmen and sent it to the Philippine Senate. The Senate convened as an Impeachment Court and what followed was the most public and controversial trial in the history of this country. However, the legal process was never finished, and President Joseph Estrada was forced to resign after millions of Filipinos gathered at the EDSA Shrine for what we all know now as EDSA 2. In just a few days, the verdict will be announced and we will finally know if President Estrada is guilty or innocent of all charges filed against him. I’d like to hear YOUR opinon about it. Joseph Estrada was born in 1935 in Manila. He embarked on an acting career when he was 21 years old. He has acted in over 120 films and has won many awards for acting and directing from the Philippine film industry. In 1969, he was elected Mayor of the municipality of San Juan in Metro Manila, serving in this capacity for 17 years. In 1987, he was elected to the Philippine Senate. In 1992, Estrada was elected Vice President of the Philippines and in May, 1998, he became the Philippine’s 13th President.

For me its guilty, like Mike Arroyo but for me the difference between them is that Mike knows how to hide while Erap that time was very open, thats my opinion. What I dont like about the opposition is that they rarely acknowledge good things that the govt will do sometimes but when there is a bad thing kahit maliit lng, pinapalaki.. Also for me, Jinggoy should call Erap father or former Pres, not Pres, even if may dayaan cguro last election.. Techinically if Erap wasnt impeach his term would have ended except if he would run again

guilty… if they said otherwise… then our whole justice system is a joke…
on the other hand… it may well be a guilty verdict… but then arroyo pardons him maybe after six months… then our whole system is a joke…
magnanakaw ka na din lang… laki lakihan mo na… para mapawalang sala ka after a few years.

Not guilty. He, of all the presidents, created housing for the poor, PAYED CAPITAL LOANS, NOT INTEREST, ALBEIT A LITTLE HE STILL PAID THE CAPITAL, and has been proven a good person by the filipino massess which despise president arroyo. The only wrong thing Erap has done, is replacing CHAVIT SINGSON, as the jueteng operator in his province. Naisahan lamang si erap ni Chavit, because of his lost sideline, chavit exposed this that, said he was carrying money for him etc. etc. Also the presidents wrongdoing is calling clarissa ocampo to the palace and signing as jose velarde. The issue here is graft and corruption, but for me, jueteng is illegal, but at least he didnt eat all 300M$+++ while pretending it was stolen, he didnt steal the money the people pay as taxes, neither did he make money out of the housing of the poor, but he did make money out of a sideline called jueteng. For me, what the current administration is doing now, is more Kawalang hiyaan than what erap did, maybe because erap lacked brains, at least he did, and he spared the country from losing wealth, unlike the current admin, which is blatanly fucking up with the country and doing everything in their power, to cheat on these people.

Sinolo nya halos lahat ayun may bumaliktad nabuko 2loy sya. C gloria magnanakaw din yan(lahat nman naupo bilang presidente) pero ginagwa ni gloria namimigay sya pera kaya loyal sa kanya mga karamihan s kapangyarihan kaya napoprotektahan sya. Mautak ika nga. Sinwerte lang c gloria d sya napeople power kc sobrang sawa na mga tao kakapeople power every presendente people power ano b yan!!

@savethequeen I think we didnt earn during Erap admin.. Peso-Dollar exchange reflects the country economic wealth, hell if didnt lose wealth during those time, the Peso-Dollar exchange rate wouldnt have sky rocket that fast from 30/dollar to 45/dollar even there was an economic downfall in Asia. Speaking of housing/poor people.. You can earn or get tons of money out of it, dba Erap created a housing unit like an apartment style but in the end the squatters returns to the barong baro while the unit/room was sold to the attorneys. Just think of this way, there are more below average people in the country than rich people or above average esp in Metro Manila. Lets have a figure of 10k people, if you get 0.10 from each budget of them you get 1k assuming per person gets 1 peso multiply that with 50k per person you will get 50m and have 3 or 4 projects like that in a year, you will 200m. And if ever the poor people will sell their property & goes back to the squatted area the cycle will never end, thats just an example of a simple corruption by getting 10 cents from the budget how much more if they get 1 peso or more. But Like in my post, I believe that Erap is guilty but what the admin can do is forgive him & in exchange Erap should help the admin provide better ways to make this country better, lagi nlng sarili kasi inuuna nila shesh.

Erap while not on par with what the marcoses stole… siphoned off quite a hefty sum in his short term as President… if he manages to complete his term… he might have exceeded the marcoses.

@mav~mia Yupz kasi matagal sila sa pwesto, if either Erap or GMA will stay that long, maybe they will out match the Marcoses @pinksoda&bluesoda for me tanggap ko, but what im afraid of is that the camp of Erap will buy people to demonstrate and in effect our Peso=Dollar exchange will go back to 60/dollar and investor will flee out of the country.. @Alkeizer Tama ka but who do you think will replace her if she will step down, lumang tugtugin na yun politica ngayon same old shit parang sirang plaka. For me, I rather stick with GMA right now kasi if it was FPJ who won then most likely cronies nya yun magpapalakad

Hmm, I think Erap isn’t guilty. Yup nagnakaw siya… But let’s take a loot at this 1st. Ninakawan nya yung mga nag jueteng right? at least yung mga ninakawan nya ay kusang loob na tumataya dun… not like Gloria… kinukuha nya yung taxes natin na we have no choice but to pay… =(

for me GUILTY. Para sa akin, ung mga magnanakaw sa gobyerno/pamahalaan hindi man sila makulong kagaya ni erap aanihin din nila kanilang ginawa ika nga eh… kung anu ang yong tinanim un din ang iyong aanihin. BTW, hindi lang namn ung nasa pamahalaan ang magnanakaw eh. Maniniwala ba kayo na karamihan sa mga teacher ay magnanakaw din… isipin nyo kung bakit… alalahanin nyo pinaggagawa nila sa mga estudyante… tapos sila pa minsan ang magrereklamo sa gobyerno na ninanakaw ang pondo para sa kanila… eh inaani lang nila ang ginagawa nila…

Guilty! The whole lot of them in the government are. All they want is power. Power to steal from the tax payers who are gave their trust to them during election time. It doesn’t matter whether they are administration or opposition. They’ll just switch sides anyway if they stand to benefit from it. Like what a poster said before me its just that Erap did not know how to hide the money he stole. I expect my governement officials to steal from me but what matters most to me is they get the job done. Mahirap yung ninanakawan ka na wala naman nagawa for the country’s economy. That’s why I’d pick Gloria over Erap any given day.

sabihin nyo nga ilang taon na ba ang kaso ni erap at ngaun lang nagkaroon ng judgement.
ilang evidence na ba ang lantarang inilantad para idiin si erap.
hindi sa kinakampihan ko ang taong ito pero kung iisipin.
mas matatalino at mas magagaling ang mga taong nais pabagsakin si erap sa pamamagitan ng kanilang pauulit ulit at paiba ibang mga evidence.
pero wala man lang ni isa sa mga evidence na sinabi nila ang nakapagdiin para mahatulan ng madalian si erap.
sa halip pinahaba nila ng todo. para makalikom pa sila ng madaming pwede nilang isampal sa taong sinasabi nyong sinolo ang yaman ng bansa.
siguro nga tama kayo di sya nagpadulas hehe kaya binaligtad sya ng mga taong malalapit sa kanya at pinatumba sya big tyme.
pero kung ikaw naman ang nasa kalagayan nya. hehe nagkamali lang talaga si erap sa mga taong pinagkatiwalaan nya. kaya kayo mag ingat kayo sa mga kaibigan nyo hehe.
pero sana bukas matanggap sana nang mga tao. kung ano man ang magiging hatol ng korte suprema.
