First, I’d like to thank everyone who signed the CHEAPER MEDICINES BILL online petition. The law was passed last week and we’re now just waiting for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to sign the bill. This is really a great milestone for the country and I look forward to more affordable medicines for future generations. Thank you Senator Mar Roxas for sponsoring and pushing for the passing of this bill! Now, I’d like to ask your support again guys for another online petition. This one is sponsored by the Blas F. Ople Policy Center. We’re going to push Call Centers to have free shuttle services for night shift. How many times have we heard of horror stories of mugging, harrasment, and even rape during the wee hours of the morning on their way home from work? This is a really important issue and even if we get just 1 or 2 call centers to do this, then we can claim that the petition worked!

Here’s the full text of the petition:

    To: Call Center Operators/CCAP

How many times have we heard stories of people being harassed and mugged on their way to and from work during late hours? The working force of call centers are constantly exposed to dangers like this because of all the bad elements that prowl the streets during the wee hours of the morning.

In the spirit of Labor Day this coming May 1, 2008, we would like to propose that Call Centers offer free shuttle services to night-shift employees for their own safety. The service won’t have to bring all of them home directly but at least drop them off in secure places that have decent lighting with access to public transportation.

If you believe in this, then please sign this online petition and forward to your friends. Thank you and mabuhay po kayong lahat!

    Sincerely,

    The Undersigned

Please sign the petition and pass it around! If you have friends in the Call Center or BPO industry, please give the link to them as well so they can pass it to their officemates. Let’s make this snowball and hopefully it will gain enough momentum and force Call Center employers to take this seriously.

    • Kristoph on May 6, 2008

NUrses should get free shuttle service too.. I think everyone should <_<

    • iseedeadpeople on May 9, 2008
