Personal: Onling Gaming Job Opportunities
Wanna Play Games for a Living?
This is basically a follow-up to my previous article on professional online gaming careers that you can have here in the Philippines. I was inspired to make this post by my auntie, Toots Ople, who regularly has job announcements on her blog, Our Times.
What is the good thing about having a job? Well, other than having money to spend on essentials like food, drinks, rent, and all that, you can also save up to buy a NOKIA N95 (LOL). Sorry, I really just had to include that in this post, hehe!
Okay, let’s get this thing started! Up first, job opportunities here at Level-up Games!
CHINESE TRANSLATORS (Project-based - URGENT)
I’m not 100% sure, but I think this is primarily for Perfect World. As you guys know, PW-Ph will be the very first english version of the game. Level-up is investing a lot in the translation so you won’t have to put up with insane english. ^^;
PROJECT MANAGER (Full-Time - URGENT)
This is a bit challenging, especially if you don’t have the background for it. I strongly recommend that only Project Managers with previous experience dealing with IT suppliers and extensive IT background apply. I work a lot with the Project Manager and I really must say that only the very best should apply for this position.
WEB DESIGNER
Level-up has 7 games right now and it’s bound to grow. Each game has a website, and each promo per game usually has microsites! So yeah, we need web designers. Lol.
If you think you have what it takes, simply shoot us an e-mail at jobs@levelupgames.ph. You can also check the Level-up Jobs section at our website for more details on the jobs listed above. I think we regularly update that so if there’s no opening for your skill set right now, just check every now and then. :)
Next up is Game Pal. They’re basically an outsourcing business that serves foreign clients. It’s like a call center but instead of solving problems for foreigners, what you do is you play their accounts for ‘em. Yep, you become a glorified pilot, and you get paid for it. There are ALOT of positions open at Game Pal. However, a word of caution, someone who worked there before asked me to warn everyone here that there are air conditioning problems and that some of the people there are hard to work with. But then again, all companies have their share of bad apples. Might as well give it a try, eh?
LINEAGE 2 GAMING REPRESENTATIVES
EVE ONLINE GAMING REPRESENTATIVES
CITY OF VILLAINS GAMING REPRESENTATIVES
ANARCHY ONLINE GAMING REPRESENTATIVES
WORLD OF WARCRAFT GAMING REPRESENTATIVES
FINAL FANTASY GAMING REPRESENTATIVES
All the positions listed above are basically power levelling jobs. So if you think you’re hardcore enough and you want to earn some money, then you can try this one. Minimum requirement is at least 2 years of college.
Anyway, if you want to apply and if you want to see the other positions available (they have managerial openings), sign-up at Jobstreet and search for the company. You can also go directly to their office and submit your resume there. Their address is: 3203 Antel Global Corporate Center Ortigas, Pasig City.
Again, please take note that I do not guarantee good working conditions or insanely good pay. I just found this at Jobstreet and I wanted to share it with everyone. To all those who are planning on applying, good luck!

sir wauks! yay! found you! i’ve been one of your “fans” way back when RO is still good and addictive. :D
im working on as a chat support associate for a company like Gamepal and, like one of the comments made on your previous post, i must “warn” you guys as well in entering this industry.
anyway, sir wauks. just want to ask if LvlUp has an opening for a GM job. if you have any info, please let me know.
yung lang good sir. thankies! :D

oh! cool! sigh.. at least two years of college eh? guess i would have to wait.. ^_^

@Beta Tester
That only applies if you wanna be a game rep. They are also looking for marketing, project management, etc. which requires experience and college degree so I suggest you aim for that, hehe ^^
Stay in school and be responsible people XD

@drunken-monkey
It’s always nice to have a fan (Hehe). Seriously though, can you expound more on the “warning”?
For the GM Job - I think they’re looking for a Customer Support Rep for now. The career ladder here at Level-up is that you enter first as customer support and only then can you move to the GM Team. Being a GM is very hard work ^^;;

online game jobs. A lot of friends at first wanted that kind of job, but then rumors arouse that said that if example you have an existing game account, that game account will be deleted. After hearing that a lot of them backed out and opted for other jobs.
I wonder if that rumor is true. Is it chief?

@Dopes
Sometime within the day. PW Team is currently in the conference room for an emergency meeting. :)
@Mhu
Wala naman ata ganun ^^;;

I considered applying to be game rep but i realize that you don’t really have fun “playing” those accounts. you basically become a certified flesh bot for those lazy foreign players. Its undignified IMO.
March 19th, 2007 at 5:23 pm
sir wauks, pwede po ba mag intern sa levelup? as web designer?
March 19th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
I wonder how much those flesh bots are paid…
March 19th, 2007 at 10:04 pm
If you guys want to apply for level-up, shoot us an e-mail at jobs@levelupgames.ph
For the flesh bots - it’s basically the same compensation call center folks get. roughly 15-18k? I’m not 100% sure tho. Can anyone here confirm?

Ngek. Toots is your aunt? What a small world. I have had a chance to work with Toots and your Lolo Blas. Cool woman and ultra cool man. Ka Blas will always be missed and loved.
Anyway, I’m still “shopping” for regular work. Although I love writing about the industry for GAME! Magazine. I might–and that’s a big might–try this flesh bot thingee. I tried applying at a company that offers the service but not as gaming rep but as PR/Writer.

@Joel
Yeah in a time like this when all the politicians are acting like shiat, you’ll definitely miss statesmen. ;_;
Good luck with the application!
March 20th, 2007 at 3:05 pm
sir wauks, tnx for the info. how can i apply for the Customer Suport Rep? :D
as for the warning - let’s just say that transactions(that companies like Gamepal offer)are a bit risky and they’re considered illegal as per the games’ EULA. ^^
March 25th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
wauks, ako din puwedeng mag-apply? uso pa ba ang atari? hehehehehe joel, good luck with your application. send me your resume and will spread it around my neck of the woods.
March 25th, 2007 at 4:59 pm
Wow, Susan Ople … to whom do I owe the pleasure of your, uhmm, attention? Hahahaha. Long time no see. You see, Wauks, di lang pala simpleng blog about gaming ang site mo kundi tagpuan ng mga matagal nang hindi nagkikita. More power! :)

I would just like to update about the gaming representatives job offered by gamepal. I applied there before and they are looking for WoW power levelers. I thought it would be that simple for applying but it would really test your leveling capabilities even for experienced WoW players. Hands-on test would be playing WoW for 10 minutes, you need to level up your character as high as you can. But there’s a catch, you need to play two accounts simultaneously ((split screen mode) I just got both of my characters to lvl 4 I think). So you better do your best too keep those two characters alive. The pay that they offer is 10,000 Php (11,000 would be the highest for newbies, and believe me, HRs are uber kunat). If you want to be a team supervisor, one requirement is that you have long term experience in power leveling (because you should be able to handle 5 characters at a time).
Think about those things first. You might say it’s better to start as cust reps for LU hehehehehe.

Thanks for the tips Gobi!
5 accounts?
That’s insane.
><;
March 31st, 2007 at 7:15 pm
Truly insane… and btw, applying there is indeed very hard. parang search for binibining pilipinas, or star circle quest. out of 100 addict gamers who apply only 5 will be hired. all depending on power leveling skills and “multitasking capabilities”. Parang requirement yata is you must have played games since you were born to perfect your strategies for them. hehehehe. a rare opportunity to work with them but you must indeed got what it takes. XD

hi!…elow po,gus2 qng mag aplly sa inyo kaso ndi pa me graduate pwede po ba un????…….
April 12th, 2007 at 8:07 am
hmm if thats the case, that would kill the gamer in me if ever i got in. playing the game that way will force you to hate the game coz it will turn out to be a task instead of entertainment. worse, may hate the whole idea about online gaming.
