Official 3rd Job Class Names Revealed

kRO recently announced the names of the third job classes and this pretty much confirms that Ragnarok players will have one more leveling stretch when the highly anticipated patch finally comes. By the way, according to the announcement, you’ll have to be level 99 to change into 3rd Job Class. It doesn’t matter if it’s 99 Base or Trans - as long as you have the shiny aura, you can shift to third job. Here’s the translation of the names (thanks to Doddler):

Rune Knight (Changes from Knight, Lord Knight)
Warlock (Changes from Wizard, High Wizard)
Ranger (Changes from Hunter, Sniper)
Arc Bishop (Changes from Priest, High Priest)
Guillotine Cross (Changes from Assassin, Assassin Cross)
Mechanic (Changes from Black Smith, White Smith)
Royal Guard (Changes from Crusader, Paladin)

    Sa Valkyrie server Citizens hall kung mababasa mo ang mga threads dun baka mawalan ka ng gana mag RO.

    Sir Wauks, naging gamer ka rin dba? Alam mo naman cguro kung ano nafefeel naming mga players sa Valkyrie. x3 nga ngaung week na to at x4 next week pero sobrang DELAY naman ang party. Kahapon 5 hours sa 2 PC ang ginamit ko para ma leech ung acolyte ko na going to champ na. Sa 5 hours ko, 2 hours lang naging even ang party dahil sa sobrang tagal kelangan pa lumabas ang party sa alt+z tapos pag lumabas na ang party, mag hihintay na naman ng isang oras para lang ma even ung party.

    Nakakawalang gana na talaga maglaro sa Valkyrie. Kahit mga Gravity Programmers di nila naayos. Ang sabi nila nagawa na daw nila ang parte nila sa trabaho eh after 2-3 days bumalik nanaman ang delay problem. pif

  19. although i know what “guillotine” means, the sound of the word itself ang napangitan ako. i thought d pa final ung guillotine na rumor noon. pero it turns out, un na ang ginawang final. the word itself is not that popular because aside from meaning “a tool to pull out tonsils,” a guillotine was used primarily during the French Revolution. ewan ko na lang kung mganda rin ung skills and skill names ng bagong sinx pero parang d ko feel astig kung “Guillotine Cross” ang class name.

    on the contrary, mas astig para sakin ang “Royal Guard” para counterpart ng Paladin. also, sakin parang baliktad ung Warlock and Sorcerer. Sorcerer is more on ‘offensive-explosive’ magic (too much Magic The Gathering i guess ^^); Warlock is more on ’strategic’ magic.

  21. New job classes are cool and all but I hope they don’t totally neglect the expanded classes. For some time now all the news and info about future playable characters focus on the job tree of the original six first jobs. The only thing keeping the hope alive for future evolution for the expanded classes is their use of the old level 99 aura (one with the rising down-direction teardrop shapes instead of the glowing balls of light).

    I think Royal Guard should be changed. Crusaders and Paladins serve the church first before the King and real life royal guards, although soldiers in their own right are often assigned as bodyguards or for royalty or as palace security. The Prontera Guard NPCs are better suited to change job to a Royal Guard than any playable character.

    Arch Bishop doesn’t sound good to me. It doesn’t actually have to do with the game or the character, Its just that, growing up in the Philippines where politics and the church are intertwined, the title Arch Bishop sounds too political and office-workish to me. I’d rather hear a more fantastical name for the 3rd job for Priest and High Priests, like “Saint”

    I think that Generic is supposed to be Geneticist. I read somewhere that this announcement came from the jRO website and the Japanese (bless them for anime and their unique fashion sense) doesn’t have a good grasp of naming things in English. Just visit engrish.com if you want to see.

    The only names there that I don’t have a quibble about are the Ranger and Mechanic. Seeing the camouflage outfit on the Ranger concept art and thinking about the skills of the Hunter class, Ranger is a perfect evolution for the class. It’s the same with the Mechanic. In real life the first mechanics were carpenters and blacksmiths. It makes sense that Blacksmiths, having the ability to make simple tools (weapons), will eventually make complex tools (mechanical devices). Mechanic is a logical step up for the Blacksmith class. I just hope that the skills to be given to then will do justice to the names.

    Names I want expanded classes to get if they are able to transcend or get 3rd jobs.

    Gunslinger to Gun Meister (It sounds better that Gun Master but means the same ~Gundam00 anyone? A class that has the ability to create custom guns, ammunition and equipment, and perform powerful skills using those custom items.)

    Soul Linker to Shaman (I hope to see this as a Shaman King like character class whereas the character would imbune the abilities and skills of the character class to himself instead of others. Think of a soul linker that can change his skill set from a High Priest to a Professor to a High Wizard in a few seconds. You can buff yourself; lay down a Deluge then cast Water Ball. It would put Plagiarism to shame.)

Initially, they said that 3rd Jobs would be different from the Transcendent class in a way that Trans classes would still be quite strong on their own right. 3rd jobs were supposedly going to branch out from 2nd jobs only (e.g. Crusader >> Royal Guard), now they’re saying that even Trans characters can change to 3rd job. Does this mean that Trans characters job changing to 3rd job would have a much bigger advantage since they already have a higher stat allocation and wider array of skills and skill points? Why then would anyone want to change to 3rd job from a mere 2nd job instead of from a trans class?

    Hmm, Gravity has some explaining to do… /heh

    sa bonus stas..d nman yan + ng + ng stats kapg change from 2nd job to transcend.. kaya nga ginawang nobis sa cmula.. tumaas bonus stats nya is because transcend nga, more power classes… its not an additional stats/skill…….. bagong cmula..
    if mey 3rd job classes… obviously, BAGONG CMULA NARIN YAN… inde yan mahirap isipin… again, since pnklatest classes cya, additional stats bonuses given compared sa other two clases(2nd jobs at trascend)..

    hence, either galing ka man 2nd job or transcend, there’s no advantage at all kung trascend ka.. since bagong cmula nga…….same stats/skill alocation(malamang!!) lang bigay..nobis n nman cmula nyan..or kpag inde..pwd rin diretso.. either way……uniform parin bigay nyan…….duh!!!!!

    i beg to disagree but there is a difference in stats, a 99 transcendant has more stat points compare to a 99 non-transcendant, but there is a rumor going around that both have will have different stat distribution once you go third job so that there would be no difference whether you transcend or not regarding to stats…

    they say the only difference you get when you transcend is that you’ll have access to transcendant skills.

    @Fred-ster :: Guillotine Cross was based on the original Ragnarok manhwa. believe it or not, loki, the ultimate “emblem assasin” in the story is a Guillotine Cross (i really thought he was a assasin cross because the sprite for the sinX is much more similar to loki’s battle outfit than to the guillotine cross). his emblem says it all: the inverted “undertaker” cross from WWE except the pointed tip from the left and the right is the actual insigna of the guillotine cross. (u might want to check out ragnarok manhwa vol. 10 for that). good side is, since loki is a guillotine cross, then we are expecting the guillotine cross class to weild the most powerful magic in rune midgard : cosmic energy…sweet :)

    @hex :: nope2 hehe..2loy2 na ang pag lelevel from 99+ to 150

    @Frithiof & @Judicator :: nope2 it does not work that way..as of now, (u can check on doddler for this) no matter wat u are, trans or 2nd job lang, u can still get to 3rd job. ang pagkaiba lng kc mas advantageous ang trans kc may added skill cla. (blessed by valkyrie skills tawag nla). as for the stats, well, i read din sa doddler na they will be balancing everything so we are expecting changes based on the stats kaya aun :)

    @all :: first off, parang ang panget ng arcbishop..mas maganda pag exorsist nalng sana or somthing..tapos i like the warlok/sorcerer names kc ang dating nya parang good magic versus evil magic..pansinin nyo ah: the warlock class focuses on the more destructive side of magic while the sorcerer focuses on the more constructive side. plus, fenris fenrir (based on the original Ragnarok manhwa) is a warlock class..they kinda base the whole game tlaga sa manhwa so aun..and if it holds true, we would be seeing a skill fenris used in ragnarok manhwa vol. 9 during the competition (i think the skill is called blast elements torrents that uses fire,water and lightning elements). believe me, its UBER STRONG and very arcane magic..antique kung baga hahaha :P ..mechanic, not a good name..royal guard, sana yan nalng ang trans tapos paladin ang 3rd job hahahha X_x ..shura, ok lang kc prang based na rin sa azura strike skill nla un name..dark chaser, yan angas tlaga no doubt..generic, where in the world did this come from??? sana palitan tlaga nila to kc ang pangit tlaga..prang mamumukhang cla generic…generic drugs T_T ..the rest of the names, their fine namn :)

    the reason why di cya pdeng drop or trade is more likely to be more profitable for them. ano ba naman sa kanila kung ma hack ang clients. ganito ang logic ” if di pde drop or trade for example yung isang items galing sa NPC(cash) it means you must buy on your own”. diba mas reasonable yung dahilan ko for non trade or drop.

    @all exciting ito kahit sa 2009 pa. as long as sana maganda yung names. sana iba yung name ng girl character for example for prist you may call them arch bishop and then for girls they must create a new. suggestion ko po sana imbes na related pa din sa priest ang naming convention for acolyte class to priest sana maiba naman for example exorcist or shaman(since shaman is a related to priest di naman)

  66. Well if they do this, there’s hardly any reason to go for 3rd job from 2nd (unless you just really want to get to 3rd job in a jiffy) since you miss out on the very game-defining trans skills. I kinda liked their initial plan of having 3rd jobs branch away from the Transcendent classes. Doing this will lessen variety and strategies as opposed to going with their first idea. Not to mention limiting the looks to the sprites of the 3rd jobs… For example, the Rune Knight - it’s not exactly as “Gwapo” and majestic looking as a Lord Knight’s sprite… With the way its going, Gravity may be shoving RO into a darker, gothic look for the 3rd job sprites. (Probably in preparation for a “Ragnarok” - an end of the world patch of some sort.)

    Gravity should really think things through first, and listen to their fanbase’s comments and suggestions if they want to make their idea work.

The very logical thing to expect as of now with regard to changing from 2nd job to 3rd job and transcend class to 3rd job is the transcend class skills, definetly trans skills will not be available for 3rd job’s who change from 2nd job, if ever it will, the trans class will be worthless and this will be a very dumb thing to do. Just imagine how much profit mawawala if ang buong trans chapter will be trashed. Usually kasi players wants to maximize their characters potentials, strength, and skills so they will be willing to enter that 1-99 trans chapter for the benefits. For example sa Knight and Lord Knights, if ever may skill booster ang Rune Knight with the help of rune it will be better kung sa Spiral Pierce mo to gamitin kaysa sa Pierce lang, [ sana plus sa hits! 5hits pierce upgrade vs 10hits spiral pierce upgrade gamit 1 piece rune /gg].

  72. Cant wait for this new patch to be implemented in the future. One thing that bugs me is that transcendent characters have HP/SP mod bonus (+25%?). So what would happen if you transcend and went to 3rd job? -would you still have higher HP/SP compared to those that didn’t or would it be the same? It just doesn’t seem right that the only advantage you would have over non-transcendent jobs would be your skills and extra stat points.

    You would be able to keep all your 99 job levels that you spent on 1st class skills earlier. In addition, you will be provided with a new job exp bar going to level 50 to obtain the 2nd class skills.
