    NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2

Night at the Museum 2 is now out in local theaters nationwide. The first movie was one of my all-time favorites and I had high expectations for this sequel. Before I get into the review, let me just say that I’m really excited for the upcoming movies in the coming months. The trailers of GI Joe, Sherlocke Holmes, Harry Potter, and Transformers 2 were all shown prior to the movie and man I am just psyched up to see all of ‘em on the big screen. That aside, on to the review.

Night of the Museum 2 Plot
In this sequel, Larry is now a successful businessman running his own company. He’s left the Night Watch job at the Museum of National History and is now a full time corporate mogul. One day, he decides to drop by the museum only to find out that it’s being renovated and overhauled big time. Most of the statues and figurines will be replaced by more advanced representations and they’ll be shipped to the federal archives in the Smithsonian Museum. Larry does his best to stop this but he’s too late. The day after he finds out what happened, the “museum tenants” are shipped out to their new home.

While having dinner with his son, Larry gets an emergency phone call from Jedidiah. Apparently the tablet was brought with them by the monkey – turning the largest museum in the entire country alive! One of the devious personalities brought back to life is the diabolical Egyptian Kahmunrah. He attacks the Jedidiah and the rest of the gang in an attempt to get the tablet so that he can unlock the underworld to summon his army.

Larry decides to help out his friends and quickly leaves for the Smithsonian museum. He manages to slip in and finds his friends locked inside a crate while being attacked by the Egyptians. What happens next is an exciting cat and mouse chase between Kahmunrah and Larry. Kahmunrah enlists the aid of fellow evil historical figures like Napoleon, Al Capone, and Ivan the Terrible. While trying to avoid the men of Kahmunrah, Larry meets Amelia Earheart, the first woman to fly across the Pacific. Excited by the prospect of adventure, Amelia accompanies Larry.

Eventually Larry is caught and is brought to Kahmunrah. The Egyptian takes back the tablet and tries to use it to open the gate to the underworld. However, he doesn’t know the combination to unlock the gate. He throws back the tablet to Larry and asks him to solve it in one hour or else he will kill Jedidiah.

To cut a long story short, Larry figures out the combination. The tablet is retrieved by Kahmunrah and he summons his warriors from the underworld. However, they’re all defeated by the gigantic statute of President Lincoln. The rest of Jedidiah’s gang arrives and takes on the forces of Kahmunrah. Ultimately the evil Egyptian villain is defeated, and Larry sells his company, gives a major donation to the Museum of National History on the condition that the old statues and figurines will be restored.

    Review
Over-all I found the movie okay. It didn’t live up to the first movie because of several dragging scenes that were supposed to be funny but ended up being boring. Remember the part where Napoleon was asking Larry about Amelia? Man that was insanely stupid.

My personal favorite part would be when Jedidiah and Octavius attacked the men of Kahmunrah. That scene reminded me of a twisted and funny version of 300. Kudos to the writers for coming up with that scene. I was laughing out really loud during that part.

Is it worth the movie ticket? Yep. But it will definitely pale in comparison to the next movies coming our way.

Meh, mixed it up. Now that you point it out, I remember that it was pointed out as well in the last scene when Larry met the “new” Amelia. Will edit laterz. Too sleepy to do so now. x.x

Light movie. Thought the Amelia-Larry parts were a bit too forced, though. But I super enjoyed the fight scenes and I think Ben Stiller rocks with his night guard-Maglite fighting skills :) )

      Dum-Dum. :D
