A PC for P10,800? I know it’s hard to believe but apparently it’s true. I got this information from Pinoy Tech Blog. Apparently Intel and the Commission for Information and Communications Technology (CICT) have come up with a low-cost PC solution called Nettop ng Bayan 2.0. Personally I find the name to be one of the ugliest I’ve ever heard but that’s just me, hahaha. I mean… come on. Nettop ng Bayan 2.0. Rawrness. Doesn’t really have a good brand there you know. Good thing here though is that for the price, the specs aren’t too bad. You’ll have a hard time gaming but most of the basic features you’ll be able to go through without too much hassle. Check the specs and where you can get it after the break.
Nettop ng Bayan 2.0 will have the following:
* Intel Atom Processor
* 80GB Hardisk
* 1GB Memory
* Keyboard and Mouse
* LCD Monitor
Note that the P10,800 does not include OS (Windows) or a CD Drive. This is really just a basic PC. The specs are decent for browsing but you’ll probably have a hard time playing any good game. Nice to note that it comes with an LCD Monitor. This is probably 13 or 15 inches.
Here’s the list of all the dealers who are currently selling Nettop ng Bayan 2.0:
* Asianic
* Acenet Microcomputer, Inc.
* Blas Edwards
* CBX Corporation
* Complink Marketing Inc.
* Computer Farm
* Denver’s Computer Shoppe
* Enigma Technologies
* Gaisano Interpace Computer Systems
* Gillamacs Marketing
* Hands-on Computer
* Lucky Computers
* MDR Microware Sales, Inc.
* New Gate Computer Sales and Services
* Ng Khai Development Corporation
* PC Options
* PC Worx
* PC Express
* PC Chain Superstore
* Perfect Star PC Shoppe
* Silicon Valley
* Thinking Tools Inc.
* Think PC
* Villlman Computer System, Inc.
* White Whale Enterprises
* X Comp Computer Sales and Services
Most, if not all of those PC stores, are probably in San Juan City (Gilmore/Greenhills). Hehe. If anyone bothers to get one, let me know how it goes.

pang encode and browse2x sa net.. pwde na haha =)
LinQed Potatoes on July 23, 2009

Calvin on July 23, 2009

Ilang ghz kaya yan? XD

jeez, an lcd monitor for a glorified typewriter and fax machine? sana CRT na lang tapos yung matitipid pinambili na lang sana ng pirated XP. what use is a pc without a damn OS. grabe.
Calvin on July 24, 2009
Intel Atom available lang for now is 1.6GHz pati 1.66GHz.
*wink*. Pwede rin Windows 7, libre pa rin sya.
rei on July 25, 2009
an intel atom?
Akuzihs on July 26, 2009
@Calvin
tignan mo nga yung spec, yes pang torrent talaga ang atom pero tignan mo yung 80g harddrive and 1g memory (need mo atleast 2gig para de mag lag pc mo pag multiple download ng torrents, kung pa isa isa cgruo)

We already tested this unit for any flaws. It can still play some decent games, Warcraft 3 included, as long as it meets system requirements on par with Pentium 4. Intel Atom is also a dual core btw…
Upgrade it to 2GB, and it’s also decent for basic image editing. Now, the problem is the CD drive. I’m not worried with this, since Samsung has an external DVD drive for only P3,100 (USB powered, no adapter required).
The hard disk is also expandable, since the system has a SATA port. The biggest flaw of the system, however, is that you can’t upgrade the processor… forever. It’s soldered down the board, so when the board goes down, so does the processor.
Fret not, though. The board only costs P3,500 above. Processor included.
