In Naruto 414, we saw Sasuke’s team get decimated as Killerbee transformed into the Eight-Tailed Beast form. The issue ended with Sasuke drawing upon his last resort – the Amaterasu. This is a technique which causes destructive black flames to engulf Sasuke’s target. However, this technique really strains him and his eyes which is probably why itachi was already having trouble. My review of the issue after the jump.

Amaterasu: Black Flames of DEATH!
The Amaterasu quickly spread through Killerbee’s massive body and he was roaring out in pain and agony. In a matter of seconds the gigantic demon beast was thrashing around smashing everything near him to bits. This included Sasuke’s team. Karin was accidentally hit by Killerbee’s tentacles, transferring the black flame to her. At this point, we see Sasuke show a new power – the ability to put out Amaterasu using his Mangekyo Sharinggan. He uses the same ability to take out the flames after Killerbee is left unconscious. Sasuke saved his team and captured the target – mission accomplished.

However it looks like the action will continue next issue as a patrol from Killerbee’s country saw the battle take place. They quickly went away to inform Killerbee’s brother, who happened to be the Raikage. I’m not sure if this will escalate to a battle between Sasuke and the Wind Country or against Konoha since they patrol saw the Uchiha emblem on Sasuke’s back.

Naruto: The Gutsy Ninja
While Sasuke was in combat against Killerbee, Naruto was busy training to learn the Sage Techniques of his master, Jiraiya. The elder frog then explains a critical difference between Sage and Ninja Chakra. The Sage Chakra is better because you draw on Natural Energy to recover and power techniques. Ninja techniques, on the other hand, draw energy from the Ninja making him tire easily and putting limitations on how often he can execute them.

The elder then gives Naruto Jiraiya’s first book – entitled “The Gutsy Ninja”.

I think it’s pretty obvious that the book is prophetic in nature and that Naruto is in fact the “Gutsy Ninja” who is the lead character in the book. We’ll have to wait next week to find out what this means. Argh, bitin!
