LU WTF Moment 04: Tale of the 8500 CDs
The Level-up WTF Moments are surprising events that jolt you from your seat. These moments can be scary, funny, or downright stupid. I’m showing these moments to you guys because it is part of the mission of this blog to show you the human side of Level-up Games (translates to how insane we act when we think no one is looking
).
ON WITH THE SHOW!
What are Brand Managers for? I’m sure some of you guys are asking what exactly it is that we do. This post will explain our job, as well as give tribute to someone here at Level-up who is rather new at the job but has been working really insanely hard as of late.
Brand Managers are basically the “mini-CEO” of the product that they are handling. It’s a serious job that mixes marketing, finance, product development, and operations. Anyway, there are a lot of times that things don’t go your way, especially in the online gaming industry. Games are very volatile, and you have a strong dependency on your developers. Since the developers are in another country – they technically don’t know what your local consumers want. This is a limitation that will only be solved once the development of games is localized.
Having said that – I bring you the latest LU WTF Moment!

Due to a problem with the printer and our suppliers, the latest Silkroad Online CDs were delivered without the CD sleeves! WTF!? The problem was that if we sent it back to the supplier, the plans would be delayed. So what did JB Montano, the sRO Brand Manager do? It wasn’t his fault that the suppliers have hearing problems and can’t understand simple instructions (>.<).
What did he do, you ask?
Well he sat down on a table together with some OJTs, got the CDs and the sleeves, and started inserting them one at a time. All 8,500 CDs.
JB is relatively new to the job, but no one should dare question his passion, dedication, and determination to succeed and deliver. Keep up the good work man! You are definitely one of the rising stars in this company.
Cheers!

@Wauks
Good thing I saw this article before cleaning. I’m about to throw those stuff that I don’t need (including the CD). But after reading this article, I realized that I should keep the CD since it’s a product of Sir JB’s passion, dedication and hardwork.
