Level Up Counters Competitor’s Claims
The cat is out of the bag! It started with ePLDT, Level Up’s mother company, releasing the revenue figures for Level Up in the first quarter of this year. Within a matter of days, one of our competitors made their own press release claiming that they’ve beaten Level Up and that they are now the local market leader in the industry.
Here’s the latest article posted on Hackenslash:
‘We’re neck and neck’ with IPVG — Level Up! CEO

INQUIRER.netLEVEL UP! Philippines CEO Jane Walker clarified Friday that the local game publisher is in a “neck and neck” battle with publicly listed IPVG Corp., a close rival, in the local gaming business.
Walker stressed that PLDT’s figures do not reflect its overseas, mobile game business, and advergaming, which when added up to the existing online game business, is “at par” with IPVG Corp.
“For the total Philippine operations, Level Up! Philippines is at par,” Walker said in an interview, stressing that Level Up!’s overseas and mobile game business are huge. Level Up! International, which is a privately held company, operates in Brazil and India.
Publicly listed firm IPVG Corp. said it has beaten the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.’s (PLDT) gaming company Level Up! in gaming revenues during the first quarter of 2008, according to IPVG Corp. CEO Enrique Gonzalez.
Gonzales reported that the company’s gaming business generated P124.60 million in gross revenues and profits of P57.13 million during the first quarter of 2008.
PLDT reported earlier that it has earned about P77 million in net revenues during the first quarter of 2008 from online games through subsidiary Level Up! Philippines. It also reported that the online gaming service revenues of Level Up! Philippines grew by 27 percent to P77 million.
Walker said that gross revenues of Level Up! Philippines, however, have reached more than P100 million, despite the closure of several online games in 2007 and this year.
Level Up! has also launched its mobile business recently.
Walker, however, said that Level Up! cannot release its overall revenues, including overseas and mobile gaming business. “I can only release what PLDT said,” she added.
Gonzalez said that IPVG gaming subsidiary IP e-Games has generated P92.92 million in net revenues during the first quarter, surpassing Level Up!’s figures.
He said gaming, which covers online and mobile gaming and some overseas licensing support services, has remained IPVG’s steady money earner because of the high margins it generates from online and mobile games.
The IPVG executive said “advergaming” or advertising generated from games has produced about P21 million in 2007.
Meanwhile, Walker said Level Up! Philippines’ advergaming revenues were not included in the reported net revenues. She explained that net revenues usually reflect the money they earn from selling pre-paid gaming cards to subscribers minus the discounts and taxes.
IPVG Corp. said its gaming subsidiary IP e-Games produced the biggest share of gaming revenues at P111.55 million, while recently acquired mobile content developer firm MegaMobile added P 1.39 million during the first quarter of this year.
IPVG Corp. also reported P11.66 million in “overseas” gaming revenues generated from “relicensing” gaming titles to Vietnam, Gonzalez said.
The earlier article showed the the competitor was drawing revenue from international business and even their mobile segment. If Level Up were to count the revenues of Level Up Brazil, Level Up India, Level Up Mobile, and Advergaming, then I don’t think there’s anything to talk about anymore.
It looks like this PR battle will never end! Abangan ang susunod na kabanata!!!
PS - Wag po tayo OT. :)

They should know, TALK IS CHEAP.
Business these days are really harsh
Bossing Wauks,
LU na mismo nag defend ng sarili nila that ““For the total Philippine operations, Level Up! Philippines is at par,” and “Walker said that gross revenues of Level Up! Philippines, however, have reached more than P100 million, despite the closure of several online games in 2007 and this year.”
From the figures above it is indeed clear as the bright blue sky, that any technicalities nor diffuculties can be easily resolve using this HUGE RESOURCES….Of course, hindi naman lahat to e dapat mapunta lang sa isang games….But then, it is hard to ignore the FACT that the revenue is HUGE!
Why not divert some of this resources for the added stability and to resolve problems tantamount to the dis satisfaction of your customers? Just wonderin’…..If im the CEO, i would definitely HALT TOO MUCH MARKETING and FOCUS our resources to the MOST IMPORTANT SERVICE….THE SATISFACTION OF MY GAMERS….Honeslty, LU is LU…it is already a household name..no need to Focus on too much Marketing…FOCUS on US!!!
Just my opinion…..Ciao!
prang abs cbn at gma ah hehe…
pagandahan nlang nang service
hindi padamihan nang players ^_^
quality not quantity
Gnun, tablado ba kabila
hanggang figures lang level up haha
Siguro kung mas aayusin ng LUG ang serbisyo nila at magfocus sa pagresolba ng maraming issues like poor CS service, instability of servers (like valkyrie) at too much lag in games, then mas lalaki pa siguro ang FIGURES na maipagyayabang nila against their competitors dahil maraming players ang maeengganyo maglaro uli.
I know na kaya nyo ma fix yan ^^..
more power poh..
Perhaps some of these people are right. If they get an awesome gaming experience from LU, then no matter what PR stunts the competition throws at them, they’ll just shug ‘em off and keep playing LU’s games. I think it’s better to build on consumer loyalty than win a PR battle, don’t you think?
Dito nga sa Davao Lagi may event ang kalaban nyu like last week in Gaisano Mall davao there was really a crowd na pumunta tlga ang gamers. And as of Today sa Shoe Mart (SM matina Davao) may event nmn cla.. Let me ask you when was the last time you have an event in Davao? To the fact Davao is one of the biggest city that plays Ragnarok. Just my opinion lewl
Good service lang po.
That’s the least you could give to us, your loyal patrons.
Valkyrie and other servers are swarming with bots. pRO + Smartbro sucks bigtime. Super lag as usual. Para kang nanonood ng slow-mo video at minsan pa stop and go. haysh… T_T
HELP!!!!
hahaha! i like this one::
quoted from the article: “Abangan ang susunod na kabanata!!!”
its like GMA VS ABS-CBN..hahahahaha pero like they say, in business, the war will never end unless one falls back :p owell, that’s life haha
hmmm, kuya wauks, i do believe that LU! is doing what it can do to keep the best of its games right? pro sana namn, kng may issues lng, ma-aadress agad ng LU!..its somthing that you guys haven’t mastered completely..yet.
@S P Y :: the competitor my friend, is IP e-games. they hold games like RAN, o2Jam, etc.
damn that competitors like E-Games coz they claimed that they are number 1 in online gaming lolz pinakita pa ni wauks ung picture na to see is to believe diba asa talaga yan competitor na yan
PR PR PR…
