Warner Brothers and DC Comics comes together to bring to us a new animated movie – Justice League: The New Frontier! I’ve always been a huge fan of the Justice League animated series which aired on Cartoon Network. In fact I ordered original DVD copies for the entire series just so I can add it in my personal movie collection. I’m looking forward to adding this one as well! It will be available on DVD starting on February 26, 2008. Check out the story and 2 videos about this latest masterpiece after the jump!
Basic Plot: The New Frontier takes viewers on an action-packed adventure, exploring the origins of the Justice League. DC Comics legends Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are all featured in the film as well as Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and The Flash – as they band together to form the legendary super team. Strangers at first, these very different heroes must overcome fear and suspicion to forge an alliance against a monster so formidable, even the mighty Superman cannot stop it alone. If they fail, the entire planet will be “cleansed” of humanity.
Here’s the official trailer and another video of interviews about the animated movie:

Woohooo! By the way, who is your favorite Justice League member? Personally I prefer Batman over everyone else. Not only is he cool but he’s also very strategic, unlike Superman who is more of a “punch now, ask questions later” kind of guy.
Can’t wait for February 26! w00t!

Hindi naman kayo nakikinig e. Silver Age DC nga, charting how the Justice League was formed.
Ibig sabihin, from the start ang story. Hindi present times. Kennedy-era super heroes daw e kaya 1960’s ang timeline.
kinneas008 on January 5, 2008

( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_League_of_America ) nung taong 1960.
Kung hindi nyo maintindihan ang konsepto ng disenyo nina Bruce Timm, ay hindi ka tunay na mambabasa ng Comics.
Manood na lamang kayo ng Zaido sa TV.

I was introduced to the DC universe by watching Batman: The Animated Series and similar animated series that followed, and like many others, started seeing the DC Universe as synonymous with Bruce Timm’s style of art. However the characters in these programs are modernized, stylized, and “PG13-ified” interpretations of characters that have existed long before these programs were even on the air. Bruce Timm and WB created a new version of the DC universe (or maybe multiverse) that we have enjoyed watching for more than a decade now. However this movie is not part of that version. It’s based on an earlier work, and of course, will resemble the stylings of that era. It’s as if somebody in WB said ‘What if Darwyn Cooke had access to our technology and animation techniques, what would that show look like?’ and they made it.
I personally prefer Bruce Timm’s style and even almost didn’t watch The Batman because it sported a new look by Jeff Matsuda that is so different from Bruce Timm’s Batman. But then again it’s just another version, like many out there. Try to think of it this way, they are not the same superheroes in Justice League Unlimited.
Side note: I found it funny that somebody mentioned Superman’s shorts because the same comment appeared in a cartoon discussion board when they redesigned J’onn J’onzz wearing shorts for The Batman and when they made The Man of Steel wear maroon Boxer Briefs in Superman Returns.
Favorite Justice League member: Batman, with The Question a close second. I have an affinity for non-super powered superheroes.

Para sakin Batman maybe considered a Hero but not a Superhero. Wala naman kasi siyang super powers.

Comic noobs.
Weren’t you listening. Kennedy Era yan, its only natural their costumes weren’t as good they have today.
Next time, try reading comic books before dishing out other peoples works, lalo na if you consider yourself a DC/Marvel knower. di naman pala nagbabasa comics.
S P Y on January 6, 2008

Wow, so many comments. Anyway, for the people asking why our favorite heroes are wearing retro, I suggest you watch the second video which contains the interviews.
valfogg on January 7, 2008
hmmm… seems the flash and green lantern are not the golden age ones. namely jay garrick and alan scott respectively.
not to mention, challengers of the unknown. whoa, that is one heck of a long time comic heroes.
Zechs on January 8, 2008
Batman > any other heroes
why?
1.) He can make an Anti “problem/situation name” spray or device
2.) He can dodge darkside’s omega effect
3.) He is damn rich
4.) Insane human reflex
5.) He kicked superman and stole his girlfriend for a while (World’s Finest)
