John Chow, one of the most successful bloggers in the world, has made the switch. He recently decided to drop his PC and Windows VISTA in favor of a Macbook Pro with the Leopard OS. This really came as a surprise because John has always been an advocate of the PC and rarely talked about Apple’s products. To those who don’t know John Chow, he’s one of the most well known bloggers with a monthly income of around US $25,000 just by blogging.

Here’s a quote from an article on his blog written by a guest blogger:

A couple of weeks ago, I received a message from John telling me that he was planning to buy an Apple. Of course, this came as a shocker since he has always been known as a PC advocate and well-known hater of the music company that makes computers – Apple. It was soon after he explained to me why he was buying one that I realized his evil plan was never going to work. John told me he planned to completely uninstall the OEM operating system – Leopard, in order to replace it with the Windows Vista operating system. Once he was done, he planned to parade around town and on the net his portable paradox for all to see. Unfortunately, John just didn’t realize that there are powers in this world that control and prevent these anomalies in life. Much like how the sun sets west and not east, how birds heads south instead of north and how Forrest turned left rather than right to find Lieutenant Dan, the forces of nature steered John clear of his original intentions and showed him the light that is Mac.

Here’s an excerpt from John Chow’s actual post after he got his Macbook Pro:

It’s been a little more than a week since the Fedex man dropped off my new Santa Rosa Macbook Pro with the Intel Penryn processor. I had dreams of replacing the Mac OS with Windows Vista but decided to try the OS X for a week to see what the fuss was all about. Boy, am I glad I did. OS X kicks Windows ass!

I now understand why Mac sales are growing at a rate higher than the PC industry. The Mac OS is superior to Windows in almost every way. Because Apple makes both the hardware and software, the Mac just works – there are no compatibility issues to deal with. The system has not crashed once since I had it – not even during the time when I accidentally opened 30 Quicktime windows.

One of my biggest reasons for getting a Mac was that it can run Windows. This is a huge selling point for Windows users – knowing that they can load Vista if they so desired. I think it’s a key reason why Mac sales have been so great. However, once you live with the Mac OS for a little while, you’ll understand what all the fuss is about. I will not be installing Vista on this Macbook.

It looks like Apple was able to convert one of the most influential tech icons in this generation. With John’s endorsement, I believe that hundreds of thousands of bloggers all around the world are now thinking of getting a Macbook.

      To everyone:
You can run extension files by either installing parallels desktop for your mac as to run Windows XP/Vista or download, purchase and install .Mesh files as to be able to run DOTA, Ragnarok or whatever application that would please you. Trust me because I know, I’ve tried it and it works. Although why would you want to install a crappy Windows XP/Vista on your Mac? Is Mac limited or underpowered? The answer is a big NO. The MacBook / MacBook Pro or rather Apple focused more on both hardware and software, that’s why it’s expensive. Of course, it is underpowered compared to a desktop, I mean like come on people! Use your brains, why would you compare a desktop to a laptop? Dell? HP? Sony? Toshiba? If you want to compare things then compare two similar objects as to avoid biases. Let’s say that you compared an iMac to an HP Desktop or whatever brands you guys like be sure that it’s a desktop to desktop comparison or a laptop to laptop and not a desktop to laptop cause it seems pretty pointless to do so. This is just MY OPINION, but hey if you would like to compare a desktop to a laptop, then do as you wish I wouldn’t care. Again, I am just saying this as to clarify the pointless comparison that people make with regards to the desktop to laptop discussion. No offense meant to the people here. If you get hurt by the points that I’ve raised then deal with it otherwise just leave it alone.
