I was planning on buying a 2G iPhone today to serve more as a PDA than a phone. I’m a Mac user and it makes sense to get the iPhone since I can easily sync it with my Macbook. When I last canvassed for prices of second hand 2G iPhone units, it was priced at around P14,000 – P15,000. That was roughly 3 weeks ago. Imagine my surprise when I went to Greenhills again to find out that the prices are now back up to P19,000! That’s a 30% increase in just 3 weeks!
I talked to some of the vendors and they explained that the demand for the iPhone 2G actually increased drastically when GLOBE started to promote the 3G version. Apparently, Filipinos would prefer to buy the 2G iPhone instead of the newest upgrade since mobile internet is still something that needs to be developed in the local scene. Since the 2G iPhone prices went down because of the entry of the 3G units, it became more affordable for the average Filipino tech consumer.
On a side note, 3G iPhone units are being sold for P26,000 (second hand).
Guys, please stop buying so the prices will go down again and then I will buy. Hahaha!

lol! all around pala si waukeen. i was searching for the price of iphone and i got waukster. hehe! i think it’s also because of the upcoming firmware that’s why more people are buying it. anyway, it only stayed for 3 weeks to me. i’m a kiti kitext addict so the current firmware is not for me. i’m planning to buy again but still contemplating due to the sync feature. my omnia serves me best so far compared to my previous units.

I think user wise, marami namang phone that are more affordable compared to iphone when it comes to features. In my personal opinion, I think the major reason on why people buys iPhone is because its catches some attention. (Sosyal ka pag nakaiPhone ka). It’s easy to distingish if a person is using one. With tons of units released by other cellphone manufacturers, people have lost their interest to brands like Nokia, SE or Moto. Mahilig kasi tayong mga pinoy na magpakita ng meron tayo kahit papaano. Nowadays, you’ll see lots of people using an iPhone pero la namang laman ang wallet or walang load. Kaasar lang di ba?

Same here. Nung wala pa kong iPhone, I don’t know what the fuss is all about. Sinisiraan ko din ang iPhone lagi. When I got one I realized what I’ve been missing. I’ve used a couple of so called smart phones but for me the iPhone upped the par a little higher for it’s competitor. Lalo na pag na jailbreak mo yung iPhone mo. With all the apps, real HTML browsing and other useful functions ng iPhone. I would really say na you’ll get your money’s worth.
Mahal Lang talaga sa Philippines. But I bought a couple of 16gb here in Canada cos it’s a lot cheaper. And I’m selling these pag uwi ko on October. For php20,000 16gb white/black iPhone 3g.
