I’ve been a faithful follower of Gundam 00 since their first season. I love the series because of the very rich plot combined with the intense and explosive mecha action. Gundam 00 Season 2 Episode 25 was finally shown a few nights ago and it was amazing! I can’t believe that Gundam 00 will have to stop for now but that’s life. I hope they consider making a new season for Gundam 00 because I honestly find this to be one of the best aspects/versions of Gundam that was made. Gundam 00 Season 2 Episode 25 synopsis and review after the jump!

    The Innovator Showdown
In this last episode, we finally see Ribbons Almark in action. He boards a really mean looking red Gundam which resembles a Zaku with several beam cannons. It’s aptly called the Rebirth Cannon Gundam. Setsuna engages Ribbons in combat with Gundam 00 Raiser but he’s pushed back with the intensity of the beam cannons. Eventually he manages to find an opening and gets up close and personal with Ribbons. However, Setsuna is swatted away as Ribbons reveals that his Gundam also has the capability to fight in close range with the Twin Drive system.

I find Ribbons’ gundam a bit weird. I mean, the front is a gunner-type and his back transforms into a melee-sword fighter? It’s a concept that’s hard to swallow but hey he’s the final boss and he deserves the leet skills.

The two gundams battle back and forth but Setsuna gets his leg blown off by one of the beams of Ribbons. Things take a turn for the worse once again as the two other innovades come in. Both of them attempt to assist Ribbons but fortunately for Setsuna, Arios and Cherubim appears to back him up. At this point, I’m really amazed with Lockon Stratos. The guy is using a gundam with just one arm, one leg, and one gun! The two Gundam meisters easily deal with the two innovades as they weren’t able to tap into Veda for assistance.

One of my favorite scenes in this episode is when Lockon uses a 1-second Transam to lure and evade an innovade’s attack and then slams his last gun into the flank of his enemy and blows him to bits. Priceless and epic!

Anyway, to cut a long story short, both innovades are defeated but both Alleluiah and Lockon are critically injured. Setsuna then continues his face-off with Ribbons. He’s at a disadvantage until Teria comes in to make a save. He messes up Ribbons, giving Setsuna enough time to recover. However, Ribbons brings the battle back to Setsuna by using Transam and he manages to blow off Gundam 00 Raiser’s head. At this point we see another epic move. Apparently Setsuna’s special move is to “quantisize” his robot, a step short of teleportation. He avoids Ribbons’ attack, gets behind the Rebirth Cannon, and deals a deadly downward slash. Ribbons retaliates and both Gundams explode.

Ribbons manages to escape a bit and finds the old Gundam 0 which Lasse left after the power cells gave out. He installs a solar furnace which he managed to tear off from Raiser and powers it up. Luckily for Setsuna, Sumeragi was able to foresee this. Setsuna is sent his old Gundam – Exia. The two then clash once again but this time without Transam or kick ass cannons and swords. The battle ends with both Gundams exploding once again.

Fast forward a few months (I think).

We now see the actual ending of Season 2. Princess Marina is able to reunite her country with the help of the Federal government. A-LAWS is disbanded and their captain commits suicide. A new government (Federation) is re-organized. Katharon is legitimized and given a seat in government.

    As for the main characters:

    - Louise and Saji and up together. Louise’ condition is reversed and she’s healed. Maybe because of the Gundam 00 Raiser Pure GN Particles?
    - Colonel Mannequin (now General) marries Patrick. Ugh.
    - Alleluiah and Marie are shown hiking and they talk about finding purpose for existence.
    - Setsuna is alive! He is on board the ship with Sumeragi and the rest of Celestial Being (including Lockon) and they are on standby waiting for the next time that humanity needs them

And that concludes season 2 of Gundam 00!

I thoroughly enjoyed this Gundam series. The political flavor they injected in this particular series made it very interesting for me and I hope that they make another season. By the way, at the end of the episode, there’s a teaser for a Gundam 00 movie in 2010 – at least we have something to look forward to, haha.
