OMFG. All of my earlier reports that the Apple 3G iPhone would cost less than P30,000 has been trashed. Globe recently released an announcement confirming the August 22, 2008 release date but they also shocked the entire country when they gave the official SRP of the 3G iPhone. P41,889 for the 8G Version and P48,889 for the 16G Version. Seriously… that’s an insane price tag! I mean you can get a Macbook already for that price. The cost is so ridiculous that it’s not even worth talking about. They also released the pricing if you try to get it via postpaid plans. Check the other prices after the jump.

    Plan 3299: Php3,299/month (Php12,300 for 8GB and Php17,800 for 16GB)
    Plan 3999: Php3,999/month (Php5,600 for 8GB and Php11,000 for 16GB)
    Plan 4999: Php4,999/month (FREE for 8GB and Php5,000 for 16GB)

    * Plan 3299 to 4999 will get unlimited WiFi from Globe WiZ, nationwide as well as 100 hours of free monthly 3G usage. Plan 1599 and 2199 will have 40 and 60 hours per month respectively. Excess hours is billed at Php0.50/minute.

Echoing Abe, do you guys still want a Globe 3G iPhone given the price tag?

what do you expect? Apple is an American premium computer company, and they aren’t going to sell the most popular smartphone cheaply. Apple owns the world’s MP3 market and is on it’s way to owning the smartphone market. Get used to the way Steve Jobs does business, Philippines.

    • popohat on August 7, 2008

    • Jason on August 7, 2008

      @popohat
its probably way cheaper… its only $199 in the states.. converts to around 9000 pesos…

    • Gerald on August 7, 2008

yeah mas mura nga sa US $199 lang yung 8 gb then yung 16gb $299 lang. hehehe

    • Dish on August 7, 2008

fake lang ung $199 sa states. for privileged customers lang yun hehe

    • sirshatterstar on August 7, 2008

holy *&^%! 40k for an iphone!? I’ll buy myself a laptop worth 35k and a phone worth 5k with that money! I was seriously thinking of getting one but if I still would decide to buy a new phone this august, I would go with samsung Omnia (i900). The iphone killer! It’s as big and as cool looking as iphone, with touch screen and all, a whooping 5megapix cam and a 16gb disk space and the best part of it is… it’s running on windows mobile OS!

    • Hanabuto on August 7, 2008

      makabili nga nang sampu.

      haha. ang mahal

    • gmf on August 7, 2008

yung opneline na iphone sa states cost almost 700 dollars up.. masyadong mahal ang benta ng globe dito..

    • minyong on August 7, 2008

awts ginto naman yan…mine cost 100 pounds (about 10k php) and my montly payment cost about 3k+ in php…maganda to kung gusto niyong mag “show off” ng phone while having coffee in starbucks…pero tama si sirshatterstar…you’d be better off with a laptop and a phone…

    • Fred-ster on August 7, 2008

may nakita akong parang news about the iphone sa tv pero i forgot kung saan. marami na raw disappointed kasi ung cam nya e 2.0 megapixels lang daw (unlike ng ibang celphone brands ngayon na 5.0 ang megapixels) and ung cam daw e for PICTURE TAKING LANG. wala raw feature ung camera para mkagawa ng video.

    • Fred-ster on August 7, 2008

i’d rather go with the N82… 20k lang haha 5.0 megapixels pa.
