Globe to Bring iPhone to Philippines
Finally - we’re going to see legal iPhones in the market soon! As announced in the Globe corporate website, they will be the exclusive distributor of the highly anticipated mobile phone in the country. I have a feeling that there was an intense battle for the license behind the scenes between Globe and our sister company, SMART Communications. This is definitely an interesting development I’ll monitor as the weeks and months go by. Will the iPhone force SMART subscribers to switch? Only time will tell.

Globe, SingTel, Bharti Airtel and Optus to bring iPhone to the region
Manila, 12 May 2008 – Globe, SingTel, Bharti Airtel and Optus today announced that they have signed an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to the Philippines, Singapore, India, and Australia later this year.
More information will be released at a later date.
Here are some questions that I’d like to raise though.
1.) Will Globe be the enforcement arm of Apple in the Philippines?
2.) Will they raid illegal iPhone vendors (open line)?
3.) Will they confiscate illegal iPhone units bought by consumers?
These are very important questions that need to be answered since it will really have an impact on the mobile industry. I wonder if there are enough Apple fan boys in this country to give momentum to Globe for their bid to take the lead from SMART.

steve jobs wants to tap into the phone market here, he knows its a gold mine, pero ang tanong kung gaano kamahal ang bentahan pagdating ng iphone dito na “official” saka kung anong gimik ang isasalpak nila (e.g. new post paid sim bundled with iphone with lock in period for 1 year etc…) sana pwede rin pre paid :(

di naman late ang ph….. huli talaga sa plano ng apple na ilaunch ang iphone sa asia. at least masmagandang version ang puwede nating mabili since ang current iphone sobrang kulang sa feature.

ang tanong.. gaano ka mahal ang plan nila dyan sa iphone.. kasi for sure. d pwede yan sa prepaird dahil dun sa internet nyan.. or maybe im wrong.. baka free internet yan.. nobody knows.. pero if d pwede sa prepaid yan.. im sure mahal ang plan na yan.. dahil sa internet and youtube etc.. dito kasi sa US.. plan ng iphone is $100 ehhh.. magkano kaya sa pinas??

I won’t be bothering to get an iPhone, I like X1 more, running at MS Windows mobile 6 and designed by HTC.

1.) Will Globe be the enforcement arm of Apple in the Philippines? sa iPhone lang po siguro…
2.) Will they raid illegal iPhone vendors (open line)? Di naman po siguro… DI naman ni reraid ng Nokia at SE yung mga nagbebenta ng cp sa greenhills eh.. :D They are not pirated iPhones, they are geniuine iPhones na unlocked ang software. Once the software is unlocked, wala na siyang warranty from Apple.
3.) Will they confiscate illegal iPhone units bought by consumers? I don’t think unlocked iPhones are illegal… wala na lang silang warranty from Apple…

Haay naku.. super gusto ko ng bumili niyan,, badtrip kse i was about to buy na talaga ng hacked iphone, tapos biglang nabaliitaan ko ung news from globe, i really wonder when talaga irerelease yan.. alam naman naten ang marketing strategy ni apple bigla bigla na lng.. may idea kaya kayo when? hehe

It would be nice if Globe will sell 3G iPhone here sa pinas with the price the same as it is in US! It would only cost around P8700!
I will eventually buy one! Lets just hope!
