Gaming: ROSE Philippines Shuts Down

When I took a break from Ragnarok Online, my girlfriend and I decided to start an adventure in ROSE Online. I was very hesitant at first because the game really had a “girly” feel to it, but since it was an opportunity to share a new hobby with my girlfriend, I quickly said yes and we both jumped into it. The ROSE community is definitely one-of-a-kind. People will not hesitate to lend a hand in quests, levelling, and even if you badly need in-game money or items. ROSE players love to chat, and it was a very fun and rewarding experience for me to have played it. Who can ever forget Noratu’s videos on Youtube? If you guys went to Level-up LIVE last year, the ROSE video was the one that won in the LU Movie Festival. Anyway, read the official statement after the jump.

To Our Dearest Rose Community,

Greetings!

As you may already know, we were put to the test when Triggersoft (Gravity’s development team for ROSE) not only ceased development and technical support for ROSE Online but also shut down all operations recently. Many thought this was the end. But resilient as we are, we found a way to survive. We decided to follow the free to play business model, a risky and bold move, but one that we were willing to take… all to keep a great game going, keep everyone happy and most of all, keep our community solid, intact and alive.

ROSE was touted as THE game to play during its launch. We were able to make it the 2nd largest game in the Philippines with one of the most loyal and passionate gaming community this country has ever seen. It was supposed to have had the coolest features that one cannot find in other games, from simple joys like cute outfits, to big weapons of destruction such as the funky Castle Gear. And who could forget the world of the Seven Hearts, seven planets with its own unique environments and features.

We can keep on fighting but there is only so much we could do. And so, it is with deepest regret that we inform you that we will be shutting down operations for Philippine Rose Online on August 6, 2007, at precisely 12:00 noon.

We know how much pain this decision will bring to our loyal community. That is why, as a token of our appreciation, we shall be giving BONUS CREDITS TO OUR LOYAL ROSE PLAYERS (to their MylevelUp wallet) and reimbursing all unspent Moonies (see mechanics below).

In this regard, we’d also like to invite you to check out Ragnarok Online’s 15th Episode: Rachel now in Sakray.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will cherish the 2 years that we’ve spent together. No experience will ever equal the things we’ve had together as friends and comrades.

We hope though that we see each other again… still here at Level Up!

MECHANICS FOR BALANCE MOONIES REIMBURSEMENT/CONVERSION

On August 1, 2007, remaining moonies in a player’s game account will be converted to myLU credits based on the following guidelines (this will be done automatically. All you have to do is LINK your pROSE account to your MyLevelUp Account:

1. All Rose game accounts with remaining moonies are entitled to the compensation.
2. The conversion rate is 20 moonies to 1 myLU credit.
3. Remaining moonies will be converted up to the nearest credit. E.g. 14 moonies = 1 credit.
4. Game accounts that are not linked to a myLU account on or before July 31, 2007 will not be given any compensation.
5. IMPORTANT – if you do not have a MyLevelUp account, please REGISTER NOW and link your pROSE account to it.

LOYALTY BONUS

Mechanics:

1. You are a Loyal pROSE player if your account was:
• Created before July 4, 2007.
• The account must be active (logged in at least once between January 1, 2007 until July 3, 2007)
• Topped-up a minimum P700 worth of game time or moonies (total accumulated since start of commercial service August 2005)
2. All qualified accounts will get an incentive of 5% of total accumulated top-up or P350 whichever is lower.
3. This will be done on automatically on August 1, 2007. If you do not have a MyLevelUp Account, REGISTER NOW and link your pROSE account.

I’m pretty sure that some people will say that the same thing will happen to pRO, especially with Ragnarok 2 just around the corner. I can confidently say that pRO will continue to live on mainly because of the solid community that has been supporting it through the years. Level-up cannot claim credit for this because the one thing that really made RO a huge success is the RO gaming community. I’ve been talking a lot to pRO Guild Leaders lately, especially since we’ve been going through so much problems the past few months. It’s nice to know that most of them understand Level-up’s situation. Let’s take a moment and pause a while from all the bugs, problems, and exploits.

As a former RO player, guildmaster, and faction leader, I’d like to thank everyone for their continued support and patronage. I can never really say how grateful I am that you guys still believe in me and in the game. Maraming salamat po, and may the gods of Midgard smile on you all.

    I know pRO will not have the same fate the pROSE has.
    IMO, kaya madami naglalaro sa pRO kasi 2D lang xa. Affordable pa, compared to RF and Rose. Hopefully, other games ng LU tumagal like pRO.

    Sana monitor nyo naman AL ng pRO. Need visible ng mga Vanguards. kahit pa minsan minsan. I can still remember GMPhage used to be inside the agits during WoE, nagpm sa mga possible bots.

  6. baka naman ganyan din ang sapitin ng RO2, 1 or 2 years lang then mag shutdown na dahil sa gravity rin ang may hawak nito.

    Sayang ang ROSE, napakagandang game pero hindi na ipinagpatuloy ng Gravity.

    More people to handle pRO1 or perhaps theyl transfer the rose staff to the upcoming RO2.

    I suggest shutting down thor and start it over with better supervision.

  12. Sir Wauks, question ko lang po, why “wipe out”, sana magawan ng paraan to transfer the old pROSE account to other servers, like Rose NA(north america), although its P2P, its better than wipe-out..


  13. lets face it… pROSE is not a cash cow for LU. but for the benefit of all the players, why not merge their accounts in international ROSE Online? just like wat ORO did. when they decided to cancel their RO servers, they merged their players account to iRO so their loyalists can still play the game


  14. Expect nyo na mababawasan pa lalo ang players ng ragna…x2/x2 na pero nasa 3.6k na lang tao sa Freya..down from 4.5k last, last week. Ang tagal na pero hanggang ngayon ay wala pang nilalabas na patch para sa dupe bug…tingin ko ay wala na talagang solusyon sa dupe bug/exploit.

    Sobrang dami na ng nagbebenta ng zeny sa Prontera…indication na yon na marami na ang nagkwi-quit..ina-unload na nila mga gamit at zeny nila. Unti-unti nang nawawala yung mga brewer na meron kaniya-kaniyang harvester…indication na pahirapan nang makakuha ng load. Dami pang players ang nate-turn off sa mga naka-SL na mga sin-x sa pvp room.

    Suggest ko lang na magkaroon ng bagong free-to-play server ang ragna…yung walang bot…lagay na lang kayo sa hypermart ng mga items na kailangan ng mga tao(fire/acid/coating bottles,mastela,slim pots,honey,royal jelly, elunium, oridecon, armors, weapons, garment, footgear, speed potions). Tapos babaan ang drop rate ng mga yan para sa hypermart na lang bibili ang mga tao. Pwede siguro na maglagay ng mga boss cards or items na meron expiration date. Maganda siguro na ipatupad ng mahigpit ang “no illegal trades policy”…kaya marami nagdu-dupe ay primarily dahil sa php. Tingin ko naman ay maraming maglalaro sa free-to-play server ng ragna…90%+ ng mga player dito ay free-to-play ang nilalaro. Ang nakikitang kong main advantage ng ragna sa ibang online games ay pwede ang ragna kahit sa mabagal na internet connection…at mababa lang ang pc specs requirement…karamihan pa naman ng shop dito sa amin ay panay mababagal ang pc.

    sure ako pRO will be shuts down soon, not because of the RO2 is coming but becauce of the incompetent company that handle pRO, incompentent Brand Manager that manager the pRO(sadly that ur), incompetent GMs and IT personels that destroy pRO. Almost sure ako after RPC this yr, kailagn mo merge ulit ng 3 server into 1 and total population will not grater than 4k.

    As a beta player ng kRO2, sure ako RO2 will never harm RO sa philippines, and RO2 will never success sa philippines. first totally iba ung games play ng 2 games, RO2 just carry lng name Ragnarok. 2nd. madaming computer sa pinas not capable play the games. and 3rd RO2 suck.

    Sana hindi magshutdown ang Ragnarok. Chief I know you can make Ragna more fun.


  18. kahit hindi ako naglalaro ng rose online eh parang na touch ako dun sa pagkaka announce nila about closing the game. tapos may specific time pa. how sad… sana po for sure na hindi yan mangyayari sa RO.

  21. wauks, sana maglabas kayo ng Rose memorabilia items. kahit papaano napamahal na sa ilang tao yung larong yan. something to remember the game by.

    as for RO, i really don’t care kung maraming nagsasabi na laos na to, kasi hindi basehan sa akin ang kasikatan ng laro para maenjoy ito. and i’ll be there sa araw ng FINAL MAINTENANCE, kung kelan man dumating yun.

    ganda ng mga points ni Decikator… Ilan diyan suggest ko na rin noon… Free To Play kaso alisin ang ibang features ng RO at gawing itemz sa hypermart…
    sigurado dadagsa pa mga players…
    IT team niyo wala na nga ata magawa… eh nagbabayad naman kami kahit paano ah… kasalanan din ng IT team(kayo) kung bakit mgshut down ang RO if ever… pero wak naman sana kasi kahit WASAK na RO eh madami pa rin loyalists…

  31. Papatay na talaga ragna…ayaw pa rin tumigil ng mga duper…meron pa akong nakikitang mga duper na nagbebenta ng zeny…mukhang iba na dinu-dupe nila(treasure box, witherless, gold)..mga pangbenta na sa npc.

    Tanong ko nga lang pala…noong meron pang Hugel monster race…pwede ka bang magpa-level up ng level 99 advance job mula novice w/in 24 hours kung magdu-dupe ka ng medals??? Ito lang kasi ang naiisip kong dahilan kung bakit inalis ang Hugel monster race…meron kasi akong napapansin na bigla na lang susulpot na mga level 99/90+ advance job pero ni minsan ay ‘di ko nakitang nagpapa-level up.


  32. too bad for pROSE last week eh linaro ko pa naman yan nakakatuwa pa naman they’re so cute then yan mawawala na lang bigla! better na mag merged w/ iROSE. sa pRO dito sa bulacan ang dami na nag quit dahil sa bug and 3rd party proggy parang naglolokohan lang daw kasi i suggest that vanguards must be online the best nga kung 5 vanguards ang naka log-in with the GM hide mode nangyayari kasi magpapakita sila para magpa cute lang at makipag kwentuhan or gawa sila nonGM account tapos un ang mag hunt sa botters and bug user kumbaga secret agent nila.


  33. buhay ang PRO dahel sa bots! face it lahat ng game nakakasawa dahel repetitive na hack-en-slash like ROSE or PERFECT WORLD. pero dahel sa bots, PRO isnt just a game - its a lifestyle! a background process habang focus sa real life. take away bots and PRO will die.. like ROSE. Its already hapening in THOR. BOTERZ RULEZZ!!!!


  34. kRO development team had given a statement at least 100 years ago that they will still continue to develop RO1, in fact they already have rough plans for development and yeah rRo (Russia) received an exclusive patch. I love reading kRO patches.

    Gusto ko lang linawin to.. ang ibig sabihin ba nito for example ang accumulated top up ko eh 4800.. so 4800*5% = 240? .. pero dahil sa mababa lang siya eh P350 ang magiging incentive ko?
