Gaming: Ragnarok Weekly Update (5.30.07)
I think the hottest topic today in the Ragnarok Online community is the on-going discussion with the duplicated items. The pRO Team will be meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon again to iron out the final plan of action, but I already have a pretty good idea on what we will be doing. I don’t think there is a single one solution that is win-win for everyone, and at the end of the day, someone will end up having the short end of the stick. Anyway, what else is in store this Wednesday after maintenance? Read on after the jump.
EARLY MAINTENANCE

May 30 Weekly Maintenance Advisory
Date Posted: May. 28, 2007Citizens of Midgard,
Please be advised that the schedule weekly maintenance this Wednesday, May 30, 2007, will be from 6:30AM – 12:30 Noon. The extra time is needed because of several upgrades that will be implemented on our billing servers. Please make sure to log off 20 minutes before downtime to avoid bug-related issues.

pRO Team
This is actually part II of the billing upgrade. The first one happened last April 18, 2007. There should be no major worries for RO players this time around because this is primarily for FlyFF, Khan, and Pangya. We needed to take down all the other games because there’s no other way to do it unless all of our games are taken down for the duration of the integration. Hopefully there won’t be any problems for the other games.
KAFRA CARD SALE
Since the Agit Lords is about to start, we’re going to put the Kafra Card on sale for one week. It will be on 20% sale starting Wednesday until the following week’s maintenance. The Kafra Card is important especially if you’re on offense and you’re running out on potions and other buffs.
DUPE ACTION
Whatever we decide on tomorrow, there is a 90% chance we will implement it on Wednesday. I’ll post an udpate on this tomorrow after our meeting. I’m sure that not everyone will agree with what we’re going to do, but it is for the best. We have to think long-term.

I think LUG has chosen either option 2 or option 3. X_X I hope not.
I think it would be wise to move the agit lords on thursday due
to the fact some players using dupped items tomorrow.
This wednesday would be big and tell the outcome of this
dupped issue. I hope they would add that anti - dupped program
soon.

Whatever happens tomorrow the most important thing you guys should do is to get rid of the exploit. Like I’ve said before running the script after or during maintenance means you still haven’t figured out how to fix the bug!

We have to think long-term.
Actually, if you come to think of it, option 1 would be the most appropriate decision when you think long term. Actually, lemme rephrase that: Option 1 would be the most appropriate decision when you think long term for the integrity of the game. Why did I change that? Because they can choose option 2 or 3 when they think long term in terms of player base. So what is it? We don’t know. I just hope that whatever the decision, pRO would be a better place.

Wednesday is the 30th and based on your first announcement, Tech Team should be implementing the 4 deactivate slots. So can we expect 9 slots after maintenance?

I’m really hoping for an “All Dupe Wipe” thingie and yung Item mismo na na dupe (since parang may Item number siya or Serial Number or an objid on the db) ay mawala na.
It would really balance out the economy and we can be sure na ang matitira eh yung mga original items.
Teka pala Chief, after the Dupe actions, may mga certain steps na ba na gagawin for it never to happen again?

There is no way that LUG should not choose option 1. T_T
Option 3 is almost the same as option 2 unless LUG is 100% that pRO will be “dupe bug free”. Secondly, the problem at this point is the scare of buying high-priced items because nobody is confident enough to think that is not duped. +0 items is indirectly affected too. Y? because nobody wants to upgrade anymore coz they know that OU dont sell. Choosing Option 3 will just simply worsen the scenario.
Lastly, RPC is starting tomorrow. I think its better to clean the servers first before letting the players compete.

the rpc tourney this year has already been postponed a number of times and it’s almost the middle of the year. last year it started january and lasted up to october. i hope that the maintenance on wednesday will remove all dupes… which is really a good thing to do before starting the agitlords.
by the way… is the maintenance moved BACK to wednesday? last week it said that thursday was a;ready the day of maintenance and now it’s back to wednesday?

Di na ako umaasa na magiging fair ang LUG with regards to this issue.
Maski na sabihin pa natin na sila ang may kasalanan kung bakit lumaganap tong dupe bug nato at di nila binura agad-agad ang dupes wala na tayo magagawa.
Ganyan talaga pag walang paki-alam ang company para sa players na nabiktima dahil sa kakulangan nila.
Mismong customer care nagsasabing ok na bumili ng items dahil wala nang dupe bug tapos meron pa palang duped items /swt
Sobra na talaga kapabayaan.

Kung tama ang tanda ko, the last time na ginamitan ng program na nag-aalis ng dupe items ang Thor, nagkaloko-loko ang lahat! Players cannot log in. And worst, we had a 1 month rollback! We lost all those hard earned hunted items.
Sana bago sila gumamit ng anumang anti dupe program, i try muna nila sa Sakray. People there won’t have any complaints or problem kung sakali mang ma roll back sila since they are in permanent xp mode at x drop rate. Plus the fact na dahil sa mga bots nila, kahit na ano ang mawala sa kanila, in a week, bawi na nila at transcendant na agad sila.

—– aba d naman yata tama yan… buti sana kung ung iba ang binabayad sa load at effort na exert e “shorter”(lesser) compared sa iba e lahat nagbabayad fair…. its just a matter of fairness and acceptance sana of mistakes from the team dahil ang CS mismo nagsabi na safe na…. kung d nila matanggap un e di… wat more of the long term (future) d lalong d na aasa mga tao… first of all si sir wauks na rin nagsabi na we nid a win-win solution tapos ngayon ganyan na ang statement??? balimbingan ba o atrasan ng salita? we understand na dapat gawan nila to ng paraan but if it will be done in wrong ways…d sya solution…

Can you send a request to Gravity to disable chatting while Vending. So those Bot Vendors cannot flood. They cause lag and it’s really annoying like to some players. Thanks…

^ There’s a solution for that you know: /nm Blocks all public chat. It’s really annoying to have those botters scream out their wares. Tsk.
@ Dupe Solution
Well, as I have said, both sides have detractors and supporters, whether its an all out wipe or an all out support in leaving the duped items behind. Both can be thought of as a “long term goal” but with different mindsets. Player base or integrity wise.
@Additional 4 Slots
Until they put out an official announcement, I won’t be holding back my breath for this.

i think its not fair na basta na lang delete yang mga dupe na yan. kse paano naman yung mga bumili nung item sa pag aakalang malinis yun? mapupunta ba ulit yung amount na pinambili nila? dapat gawin ng LU eh i-trace yung originator ng mga dupe items at i-ban (or idelete) account. sa tingin ko kaya naman nilang gawin yan eh, isang madugong query nga lng cguro yan that would involve consolidating lahat ng mga backups nila. ang tanong lng cguro dyan eh willing ba cla na gawin un?
tagal nang issue ng dupe na yan pero hanggang ngayon meron pa rin nakakagawa? cno me kasalanan? LU d ba? alam na nila me ganun issue d kaagad inaksyunan. tapos ngayon naisip nila delete na lng tapos sorry sa mga honest players na nakabili ng dupe?

old issues guys. old issues. however these goes there are going to be players that are gonna get screwed. what is more important for me is that the dupers get screwed too.
i voted for deleting all instances of a duped item, so even the original gets deleted. i dunno if that’s what’s gonna happen though.
obviously the best solution would be to analyse the logs and the databases and get the scammers and make them pay.
but that’s just waaaaaaay too much effort.

Expect nothing. Flip-floppers sila when it comes to decision making. Minsan considering the players’ fate pero more often than not kung san sila mas madadalian.

kung hinde kayo palpak sana walang nagrereklamo nag-announced kayo DUPE Free na RO tapos ganyan mangyayari? anong paraan ginagawa nyo delete lahat ng items na parehas serial nos. kasi yun ang pinakamadaling gawin? wala naman choice ang customers nyo sa aggreement na nakasulat sa MyLUG diba kasi tinanggal nyo nga dati yung top up site so san kami mag top up eh di gagawa na lang kami account sa MyLUG nyo kasi NO choice. IMO

I’m pushing that it gets implemented tomorrow since that was the promise of Gravity to us. I’ll know for sure tomorrow morning so just wait for an update on that.

I know of a 3rd party program that exist in pRO that can produce lag, although systems were upgraded, hardware, software etc, this will not affect it Sir Wauks. To my fellow ragnarok players, all you do is type /exall. We simply call it lag software.. Try it for yourself, all delays using attritions and moving inside the agit will lessen. ^_^

Sir Wauks, I was the one who posted requesting for a reset in Godlike Seals for each character. We are looking forward that this request will be included in your weekly maintenance tomorrow.

magkakaroon talaga ng parehas na serial. ex. syempre kung meron kang item sa chaos noon, meron din yung sa loki, nung nagmerge na, parehas na yung serial. di naman siguro unique ang serial ng bawat items.

Bago alisin ang dupes. Dapat masolusyonan muna kung paano nakaka dupe. Kung alisin yung dupe tapos pwede pa rin mag dupe, balewala lang.

Ano po yun purpose ng command na ito, wala pa ibang nakakaalam tungkol sa command na ito especially sa mga naglalag na players ng RO?
/skip - Widens frame skip. This is recommended for players who lag excessively.
Meron ba purpose ba ito. Sana ilagay ninyo ito sa GM message during the game para malaman nang lahat ng mga server. Concern lang po ako sa mga naglalag na players.

amp naman wala ung additional char slots /sob wala pa tuloy magandang reason para mag load ulit..=( sayang ung 2 kong 500 na binili..kala ko magkakaroon ng additional char slots..

the additional slots should’ve been implemented at the same time as the merge to begin with. that would have at the very least lessened the number of split accounts. it just doesn’t make much sense to me that the slots get opened a couple of weeks after the merge when they could’ve been added at the same time as the merge itself. i sure hope that an option to merge split accounts becomes available, just for the sake of those affected.

while, let’s say, you can vouch for yourself whether or not you’ve bought a duped item, can you seriously speak for everyone else out there? especially the scammers who started duping in the first place?
