Gaming: Ragnarok Valkyrie Randgris!

Philippine Ragnarok Online recently updated to Episode 10.4, Hugel, last March 14, 2007. I know most of the people were excited because of two major changes – the new job classes and the Hugel Mini-Games. However, Hugel is more than just the Ninja/GunSlinger and the Monster Race! The new patch brings in new maps with a whole lot of new monsters that drop insanely good stuff. I was just chatting over YM with Master Diwa of Chaos Server about their guild’s recent exploits into the Odin Temple. According to him, Valkerie Randgris is one of the toughest MVPs they’ve ever faced. Read on for the rest of his story and Randgris’ stats.

Before we talk about their strategy in taking on this newest MVP, let’s take a step back and see how powerful Valkyrie Randgris really is.

Valkyrie Randgris is the MVP boss monster of the Odin Shrine. She’s the same in base strength as the regular Valkyrie’s seen around the shrine, except with stronger skills and higher HP. Randgris summons 3 Valkyries, and will resummon if she finds herself with less than two at her side. Randgris has numerous stat boosting skills (Power Up, Agility Up, Two-Handed Quicken), which she will activate all at once if she is weakened. While one of the hardest bosses in Ragnarok, Randgris is the only way to get the incredible Valkyrie armor set, making it quite worthwhile to fight.

Randgris drops the Valkyrie Set Armor (Armor, Manteau, Shoes) which is arguably the strongest set for now. There’s also a 25% chance that she will drop a Bloody Edge which is valuable for anyone looking to make an Executioner. So in terms of drops, she really does have something to offer! Maybe after this post more and more guilds will try to take her down. Now that we have her stats, let’s take a look at how Master Diwa and the rest of his guild took her out.

According to Master Diwa, as soon as Hugel was up, he immediately formed a 12-man party. He was able to get 1 Clown, 3 Priests, 5 Biochemists, 1 Stalker (with SG), 1 Champion, and 1 Professor. When they found Randgris, they had the Professor tank, using multiple Safety Walls. However, they eventually got overwhelmed by the summons and got wiped out… three times.

At this point they changed strategies. They used their VIT biochemist to tank, which spammed Potion Pitch like there was no tomorrow. The Clown then just used Braggi and the other Biochemists spammed Acid Bomb while the High Priests spammed Lex Aterna. Eventually they managed to kill it.

Good luck to everyone who plans to hunt Randgris! Speaking of Randgris, the pRO GMs are now summoning her in Prontera City on all servers XD. I’mma try to ask for screenshots so I can post ‘em here. LOL.

  2. I think it’s not the right time to summon Rangdris over Prontera since it’s Holy Week and it’s a bit ugly to see dead people in a town

  4. I think “Level Down” is a term that can also refer to negative EXP. With regards to the timing, let me apologize in advance to anyone who got offended with the summoning. It wasn’t just Randgris, I think the GMs also threw in a few Orc Lords and other Hugel-based monsters. :-)


  5. Valkrye Randgris and Lord Knight Seyren:

    Valkyrie Randgris is tougher than two Lord Knight Seyren Bosses put together but a single LK Seyren still has a higher damage output and looking at the nature of their skills, LK Seyren has higher armaments of skills at his command ranging from Bash, Bowling Bash, Stun, Magnum Break, Critical Strike, the ever Famous Spiral Pierce (to be added on next episode, this is gonna hurt) and Changes From Fire,Holy and Ghost at 70%,40% and 10% respectively. Valkryrie Randgris on the other hand has Dispell, Sonic Blow, Brandish Spear, Holy Attack, Holy Cross, Thunder Storm and Lord of Vermillion which she uses at an average basis.

    Now teritory-wise Odin Temple 3 is wider and broader compared to Bio Labs 3, so dragging Randgris on a corner is easier compared to finding LK Seyren and surviving all other transcendent spirits in the area.

    On Mobs: Randgris has 3 Valkyrie that heals an ally when it is below 60% and has almost the same skills Randgris but it can still be outhealed with Bragi+Acid Bomb. Meanwhile Seyren has
    5 transcendent mobs(Priest,High Wiz,Mastersmith,SinX,Sniper) that does the best class skills at their disposal. Although Randgris has 3 healers at her side, crowd control is the biggest issue when fighting Seyren since other trash mobs can spawn anywhere and there is also a possibility that they Intimidate(Snatch) players and teleporting them to other locations with more trash mobs.

    Drops: Randgris still has the more worthwhile drops compared to Seyren which focuses on Melee Class Drops and also on the next episode LK Seyren will no longer be dropping Executioner so Uh well…
    (Imagine an indestructible armor and put a GR card on it)

    Conclusion: I’ll take Randgris anyday, although rumors has it that in iRO, it took an entire 56/56 Guild to down Seyren (still can’t find a screenshot though). But I’m still thankful neither of these two were included to any BTA otherwise… You get the message.

    Here’s a secret drop: Bloody Card Album: Always gets MVP or Miniboss Card when you open it(YOU WISH). Enriched Card Album: Has a higher chance of gaining MVP or Miniboss Cards when opened (YEAH RIGHT!). Warning: Bloody Card Album and Enriched Card Album is Hazardous to RO economy and Game Balance should it be implemented

  8. Yep :D Already included in the daily routine of the guild, killing Valkyrie Randgris. Minimum number is 4 members in killing him.

  14. I don’t agree that Valkyrie Randgris is the most powerful MVP.

    Why? Because someone managed to kill her.

    No one has managed to kill a Biolab MVP in pRO. In conclusion, the Biolab MVP’s are stronger.

  16. Correction: Master Diwa formed a party with various Chaos guilds and not just with Invictus. Also I agree that Randgris is not the most powerful, the article just states that she is one of the hardest. Personally, I still think that MVP Kathryne is the hardest MVP to beat.

    and the rest of biochemist spam Acid Bombs.

    best tanker here is Stel body champ with GTB to avoid disspell ng valyris. then around 3 ab creator mga 1 to 3 mins deadz na mvp

  24. 4 can do it… 1 to tank, 1 to use potion pitch on him (tanker), 1 Priest to use SW to the tanker and the last one to bomb Valkyrie Randgris. Should be dead in about 1-2min. Of course you have to know where to position yourselves before engaging the MVP in battle. One wrong move = wipe out XD (happened alot of times before finally ‘mastering’ it)

    not bragging but, so far lahat ng nakakasabay namin is either wala talagang planning other than the traditional approach of either AB tele or devo-tank AB which is good pero still kulang.

    @the Bio thingy, anyone can MVP the biolab pero the prob is. pRO has disabled flywing in Bio3. Wierd, other official servers allows flywings especially iRO. Yup tele SKILL is DISABLED but flywing is enabled.


  26. Seems like it was a bad thing to post the screenie. LoL Yep madami nga pupunta kay valk without any plans. They think its all about out’potting’ the damage from the mvp and too eager to get the MVP and not looking out for their other party members. Everybody should know their role before engaging in any MVP battle.
