Gaming: Ragnarok Server Merge Update (8:23 AM)

As most of you guys know, the game servers were taken down last night because of the Ragnarok Online Server Merge. It’s amazing how hard technical stuff can be for MMORPGs! Anyway, the Gravity Engineers from Gravity and our IT Team has been working non-stop since midnight and at times it really looked like they were in a war room. I didn’t bother asking for updates then because it looked like they were really stressed out. Since it’s already 8AM, I decided to go up to Andy and get an update. So far we have good news. Read on to get the full update and the transcript of our conversation.

Wauks: Hi Andy!

Andy Gravity: just finished
Wauks: wow

Andy Gravity: payletter has to work on giving game time to players
Andy Gravity: and we still need to test

Wauks: were there any problems?
Wauks: or was the merge smooth

Andy Gravity: we can start testing now

The account splitting was a success and only a few people actually had split accounts. Most of the gamers were able to reduce their characters and kafra storage so that they wouldn’t have more accounts. We’ve already submitted the list of accounts to our billing provider so that they can insert the 2 hours load into the split accounts. The servers are also rather okay at this point but we still need to confirm that in 30 minutes when the Game Play Specialists and the GM Team of Level-up start their testing. As soon as I get more relevant updates from them, I’ll post it here. I’ll also try to get pictures, hehe!

So far, so good. Hopefully everything else goes smoothly.

    Sir Wauks, That’s good news!!
    If It’s going smooth, Is there a posibility that there will be no stuck characters on other maps? Because my character in odin got stuck at payon..

    OT: Will There be New Items At The Hypermart?

    We just want to know if gravity will allow GTB to be disabled only in WOE as you requested in email before. We hope that GTB will be useful not only in WOE areas.


  27. Sana may update and if you guys can get the servers up before siege time, may siege po ba rin for today?? And pwede rin pictures of the Gravity team + mga LU Vanguards!!! Para naman makita naman ng iba yung mga Vanguards!!!

    Speaking of Vanguards… tanong na din kung… ano na po status ng prize ko sa blog contest??? ^_^

    are we half way already? or are we just starting on this “smoothness”?

    i think testing is just the beginning part…
