It’s about time I give you guys a much needed update on the Server Merge. If you check the game launcher and the website, there are already Server Merge promotional materials uploaded. That makes it official. Server Merge is REAL, and it’s coming this MAY, 2007. Like what the official announcement said – war is coming and the question you should be asking yourselves is where will you stand? Anyway, there have been changes to the mechanics and I’d like to give you guys the complete story behind everything. Read on! This is something you really should know.
BACKGROUND
You guys won’t believe it but after Gravity gave us the go-signal to announce the 9 character slots, they suddenly backtracked and said that it’s impossible to do it at pRO. That’s the main reason why you guys haven’t been getting updates since my last post. I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to get the 9 slots prior to the merge. Apparently, all the previous Server Merges in other countries happened with just 5 slots. Anyway, we were able to get the 9 slots but at a cost.
KAFRA STORAGE UPDATE
We gave up the split account due to kafra limit so that we could retain the 9 character slots. This means that if you have 298 items in Chaos in your Kafra and 4 items in Loki, the system will automatically delete the 2 items (beyond 300) in Loki. This also applies to the Freya server set – which means that you should keep your equipment within the 300 limit or else the system will delete items that exceed. The system will delete items from the server with the less number of items in the storage. What’s my advice? If you will exceed the 300 Limit, just make a novice account, level it to 6 so you can get the kafra storage access skill. Trade the excess items from your original account to the novice account so that you won’t loose anything when the merge happens.
WHAT ELSE HAS BEEN HAPPENING?
Over the past week, I’ve been constantly talking with Gravity to ensure a smooth merger. It’s been really hellish and it was really tough getting them to agree to stick to the agreed date. We’ve laid out a really long testing schedule, and we are making sure that the back-up database is readily available which assures everyone that accounts, characters, and items will be safe. Suffice to say – it’s been a battle to get the mechanics that we want.
WHEN WILL WE SEE THE OFFICIAL MECHANICS?
The mechanics will be posted on the RO website by MONDAY, APRIL 30, 2007. The official server merge website will also go up next week. The site will contain the FAQ, tips, and other stuff you need to know.
Last but not least – everyone has been asking me when RPC 2007 will happen? Like what I keep saying, it will take place 2 weeks (or maybe 1 week) after the Merge. Also, I’m currently pushing Gravity to do something that only happened once in RO history – back in 2004. If you want to know what that is, you might want to check my earlier post on Cosplay. :gg:

as far as i remember wauk’s updates, there is no such thing as character deletion. corect me if im wrong pero AFAIK, there would be simply split account due to not enough character slots. magkakaroon ka ng panibagong account (na wlang load), and nandun ung extra character/s mo. so i think wala ka na magiging prob dun if ever magiging over 9 characters meron ka from the two or three parent servers (ie, 5 from chaos and 5 from loki, or a total of more than 9 from lydia(4)-iris(3)-sarah(5)). ska unfair un noh! napa 99 mo na transend tapos basta na lng madedelete. :heh:

i have a feeling that ung name change will be allowed. unless sabihin ni wauks na ndi na pla magiging available ang name change. after all, ang sinabi lng naman ni wauks na kapalit ng 9 char slots is only ung account split due to kafra over-storage, quoting wauks, “We gave up the split account due to kafra limit so that we could retain the 9 character slots.”

i understand ur point, but in my understanding, if there is a split account due to kafra over-storage, the other account would only contain the extra kafra baggage and NOT the characters from other servers (UNLESS of course nag-aaply din ung split acount due to not enough character slots).
after all, in your example, you said that in ONE ACCOUNT, she has only 1LK 1HW each on Lydia and Sarah, all 99ers. If my understanding of the split account due to kafra overstorage is correct, if it would indeed apply to that account on server merge day, yet she only has those FOUR characters, all characters will be placed on the main account, meaning 2LK 99ers and 2HW 99ers (asuming different names; otherwise name-change applies).
the other account will only have kafra items and NO CHARACTERS, unless of course, wauks clears this up since this is how i understand it hehehehe. but if my understanding is correct, any TWO of those characters cannot be online at the same time, anytime, because they are all under ONE ACCOUNT.
if i’m wrong with this then i will admit i’m wrong. ^_^

based on that post i understand that… (please correct me if im wrong wauks ^^)
– you will only be alloted two (2) days to change the names of ALL your characters. name change is OPTIONAL, though, and you have the choice on which character/s to change names. when the 2 days would start and end, i don’t know. maybe start after maintenance and end 48 hours later. how LU would do the name change process, im not sure. ^_^
– each and every character you have is alloted ONE and ONLY ONE CHANCE to change names, so TYPE CAREFULLY :heh:
– if in case you mistyped, you still have a choice: delete the avatar :wah: or get stuck with that name, as quote, “FOREVER”!!
– as to how would the name change process be done… i have no idea as well. i played a little iRO but i didn’t avail of their change name service.
so, to answer your question, yes, 2 days lang ang name change.

oo nga naman sana ‘di lang 2 days ung name change, pano naman yung busy or pahinga muna or ‘di sila aware sa mangyayari or any other reasons.. baka mawalan ng gana maglaro yung mga yun pagbalik nila dahil hindi na nila mapalitan ang name nila? im begging you sir wauks… :sob2: ako nanghihinayang para sa account ng friends ko na nagpapahinga muna as of now… konti na nga lang friends ko mawawala pa :sob: please po, i-consider nyo po yung mga ‘di makakapag-online on that day na kailangan palitan na yung name namin :sob2: baka nga di rin ako makapag-online that day eh… :sux:

how far back is the backup data dated?
what do we do to ensure that all our items our accounted for?
are screenshots enough?
is there any procedure we need to go through?
lets say; take screenies before every server maintenance?
i’ll even pay extra to ensure my accounts/items/characters have a recent backup (recent meaning april 25 recent)
it’s because i have acquired certain goods that are not that cheap.

I only have 1 question: You already addressed the issue of characters having the same name. How about guilds having the same name? There is still a small chance of that happening, am I right? How do you plan to fix this problem should it occur? Yun lang naman po. Thanks! :no1:
