Gaming: Ragnarok Server Merge this May, 2007!
It’s about time I give you guys a much needed update on the Server Merge. If you check the game launcher and the website, there are already Server Merge promotional materials uploaded. That makes it official. Server Merge is REAL, and it’s coming this MAY, 2007. Like what the official announcement said - war is coming and the question you should be asking yourselves is where will you stand? Anyway, there have been changes to the mechanics and I’d like to give you guys the complete story behind everything. Read on! This is something you really should know.
BACKGROUND
You guys won’t believe it but after Gravity gave us the go-signal to announce the 9 character slots, they suddenly backtracked and said that it’s impossible to do it at pRO. That’s the main reason why you guys haven’t been getting updates since my last post. I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to get the 9 slots prior to the merge. Apparently, all the previous Server Merges in other countries happened with just 5 slots. Anyway, we were able to get the 9 slots but at a cost.
KAFRA STORAGE UPDATE
We gave up the split account due to kafra limit so that we could retain the 9 character slots. This means that if you have 298 items in Chaos in your Kafra and 4 items in Loki, the system will automatically delete the 2 items (beyond 300) in Loki. This also applies to the Freya server set - which means that you should keep your equipment within the 300 limit or else the system will delete items that exceed. The system will delete items from the server with the less number of items in the storage. What’s my advice? If you will exceed the 300 Limit, just make a novice account, level it to 6 so you can get the kafra storage access skill. Trade the excess items from your original account to the novice account so that you won’t loose anything when the merge happens.
WHAT ELSE HAS BEEN HAPPENING?
Over the past week, I’ve been constantly talking with Gravity to ensure a smooth merger. It’s been really hellish and it was really tough getting them to agree to stick to the agreed date. We’ve laid out a really long testing schedule, and we are making sure that the back-up database is readily available which assures everyone that accounts, characters, and items will be safe. Suffice to say - it’s been a battle to get the mechanics that we want.
WHEN WILL WE SEE THE OFFICIAL MECHANICS?
The mechanics will be posted on the RO website by MONDAY, APRIL 30, 2007. The official server merge website will also go up next week. The site will contain the FAQ, tips, and other stuff you need to know.
Last but not least - everyone has been asking me when RPC 2007 will happen? Like what I keep saying, it will take place 2 weeks (or maybe 1 week) after the Merge. Also, I’m currently pushing Gravity to do something that only happened once in RO history - back in 2004. If you want to know what that is, you might want to check my earlier post on Cosplay.

Question lang regarding sa relationship nang Grav at LU! bat parang pahirapan humingi nang “tulong” sa Grav? Tska bakit ayaw rin sabihin nang LU ung nangyayari behind the scenes with Grav para maitindihan nang ibang players na hindi lagi LU ang may kasalanan.
Kaya gusto ko tong blog na to. at least we get infos on both sides.

Tama si Arthur sa sagot niya. It was technically impossible daw to have the 9 character slots. The work around was cancelling the account split due to Kafra Storage.

how far back is the backup data dated?
what do we do to ensure that all our items our accounted for?
are screenshots enough?
is there any procedure we need to go through?
lets say; take screenies before every server maintenance?
i’ll even pay extra to ensure my accounts/items/characters have a recent backup (recent meaning april 25 recent)
it’s because i have acquired certain goods that are not that cheap.

i have a feeling that if there are same non-equipment items in the kafras of the two servers merging, each specific item would just add up in the kafra of the new server (much like adding up when we move items between kafra, inventory and cart).
the only problem lies on the number of equipments you have since these don’t stack up in number even if the condition of the equipments are the same (ie, each unupgraded poo poo hat has its own slot in the equipments section of kafra). it has always been my wish though that equipments with the same condition (upgrade, cards inserted, number of slots, element forged, and even name of forger if it applies) would stack up in number, much like how unupgraded poo poos, regardless of how many you have (with a limit of like, say, 100), would occupy only one slot in kafra. that would surely clean up messy kafras.
the only other problem i could think of is if the two kafras merging would have at least one non-equipment item going over 30,000 in number. im not sure if this has been discussed before.
nine character slots in exchange for kafra split account? i think it’s fair enough. we have carts anyway, or even friends with extra kafra space to take care of extra kafra baggage.

Sir Wauks paano nmn for example i have 5 characters in chaos and 5 characters in Loki. anong mangyayari dun sa isang sobrang character? delete din ba? kunwari trans na clang lahat… ano gagawin ng system about it…

For example:
A friend of mine has a lvl 99 HW and lvl 99 LK in Sarah. She later moved to Lydia creating similar avatars, i.e., another lvl 99 HW and lvl 99 LK. All avatars belong to the same account Hardcore player that she is, all characters that belong to the different servers have considerably amassed zenny and equips. You would think her Sarah avatars have gone to waste thinking that she has left Sarah for good.
And then there finally was hope. Who would have thought that Sarans and Lydians would merge under one name? You would certainly like to see those avatars from different servers stand side by side in War when the merger come thanks to the ultra-cool, who-would-have-thought, Nobel-prize-worthy Split Account “consequence”. You would have two accounts that had WoE-worthy avatars! I mean, HOW COOL IS THAT! Or, how cool WAS that?!
When finally your kid brother has grown old enough to go from being a bugger to a learning player, and you have eventually purchased that other PC, you would have had something to let him pilot. Finally, you and him play side by side with the characters you worked hard for. Thanks to the Split Account.
BUT NO! The Utopian dream quickly fades thanks to those who have “been fighting tooth and nail to get the 9 slots”. (In addition to our woes, we also have to worry that our precious items have to be deleted. AND we also have to “just make a novice account, level it to 6 so you can get the kafra storage access skill. Nope - we still have Rachel, Beinz, Nameless, and Gravity just announced development of episode 12. RO1 will continue to get more patches and support from Level-up and Gravity.

Hindi lahat ng players have the money to top-up split accounts. Since most of the players are students who just save up their money to top-up their account. Besides, isn’t it cool that you have a 9 slot account with almost all of them glowing?
Kasi sa akin yun lang gusto ko eh. makakita ako ng isang account na 99/70 lahat. Kahit hindi ganun kayaman basta glow in the dark ok na yun sa akin.

Pano po yung pagdelete ng gamit? random item? i mean if you have 298 in chaos and you got 5 items in loki? From what serve madedelete yung item? sa chaos,loki or random? Medyo mahirap kasi kung random ang pagdelete ng item. Mahirap din naman kung ang item na i-dedelete eh yung may mababang price pagsell mo sa NPC.

The back-up is the entire database the day before the merge. For example, merge is on May 16. Your characters will be frozen in time on May 15 - something like a screenshot of the entire pRO. If anything goes wrong we can refer to that. :)

who gets to choose which items will be deleted by the system? baka naman yung mga magagandang gamit ang i delete at yung mga bulok ang intact. dapat you have a person there na pipili ng pinaka mura or unimportant equipment at yun ang idelete. dont tell me random to or yung sa less dominant server ang idedelete kasi malaking kalokohan yun pag nagkataon

na delete ko na lahat ng char ko sa server na ka merge ko, pero yung kafra hindi ko na empty. does it mean counted pa yung laman ng kafra dun? kahit wala na ako char sa server na un?

WAUKEEEN, may tanong ulit din ako about sa name change, possible ba sya? Kasi, I just found out I have a Lvl 8 novice in Loki Server who has the same name as my High Priestess in Chaos server.
Do you have any updates on Suffixes or possibility of name changes?

You should not expect something entirely true until an OFFICIAL release is made. Waukeen’s blog tell us the possibility of things, but we should not always take it as is.

I think random ang pagdelete ng items na osobra kasi hindi naman mag aapear as what in game items are called dun sa server. the items are referred as 10001010101, in different combinations and are separated by commas, at kung may magkakamaling mag over ang kafra items mo, it means big or talagang may mawawala sayo… i dunno about how they will do it kung ano ang tatanggalin at kung ano ang matitira pero tyak na may mawawala sayo. Kaya ina-anounce na nila ng mas maaga kaya be prepared. lets cross our fingers na sana hindi mas malala ang maging problema nyan. ang tanong e, kung ano nga ang latest na backup copy nila ng items, kafra items, inventory items, and cart items ang magagawan nila? is the backup copy the date of that maintenance or the previous maintenance before the server merge?
and is there an effect if i overweight each of my meging characters to 90%? baka may madelete pa kung ioverweight ung mga characters mo para lang hindi mabura at masave ung kafra storage capacity ko.

pwede magdelete ng characters ever since the end of rpc last year. kakadelete ko lng nga po ng support priest ko kasi hirap palvl ng soloista ahahahaha, kaya aun gnawa kong battlepriest.

as far as i remember wauk’s updates, there is no such thing as character deletion. corect me if im wrong pero AFAIK, there would be simply split account due to not enough character slots. magkakaroon ka ng panibagong account (na wlang load), and nandun ung extra character/s mo. so i think wala ka na magiging prob dun if ever magiging over 9 characters meron ka from the two or three parent servers (ie, 5 from chaos and 5 from loki, or a total of more than 9 from lydia(4)-iris(3)-sarah(5)). ska unfair un noh! napa 99 mo na transend tapos basta na lng madedelete.

i understand ur point, but in my understanding, if there is a split account due to kafra over-storage, the other account would only contain the extra kafra baggage and NOT the characters from other servers (UNLESS of course nag-aaply din ung split acount due to not enough character slots).
after all, in your example, you said that in ONE ACCOUNT, she has only 1LK 1HW each on Lydia and Sarah, all 99ers. If my understanding of the split account due to kafra overstorage is correct, if it would indeed apply to that account on server merge day, yet she only has those FOUR characters, all characters will be placed on the main account, meaning 2LK 99ers and 2HW 99ers (asuming different names; otherwise name-change applies).
the other account will only have kafra items and NO CHARACTERS, unless of course, wauks clears this up since this is how i understand it hehehehe. but if my understanding is correct, any TWO of those characters cannot be online at the same time, anytime, because they are all under ONE ACCOUNT.
if i’m wrong with this then i will admit i’m wrong. ^_^

based on that post i understand that… (please correct me if im wrong wauks ^^)
– you will only be alloted two (2) days to change the names of ALL your characters. name change is OPTIONAL, though, and you have the choice on which character/s to change names. when the 2 days would start and end, i don’t know. maybe start after maintenance and end 48 hours later. how LU would do the name change process, im not sure. ^_^
or get stuck with that name, as quote, “FOREVER”!!
– each and every character you have is alloted ONE and ONLY ONE CHANCE to change names, so TYPE CAREFULLY
– if in case you mistyped, you still have a choice: delete the avatar
– as to how would the name change process be done… i have no idea as well. i played a little iRO but i didn’t avail of their change name service.
so, to answer your question, yes, 2 days lang ang name change.

oo nga naman sana ‘di lang 2 days ung name change, pano naman yung busy or pahinga muna or ‘di sila aware sa mangyayari or any other reasons.. baka mawalan ng gana maglaro yung mga yun pagbalik nila dahil hindi na nila mapalitan ang name nila? im begging you sir wauks…

I only have 1 question: You already addressed the issue of characters having the same name. How about guilds having the same name? There is still a small chance of that happening, am I right? How do you plan to fix this problem should it occur? Yun lang naman po. Thanks!

bkt ganun yung MYLevelup top-up page.. ngload friend ko ng 1 wik dis day tas ok nman yung card.. kaso nung i-add n yung credits sa account n llgyan, succesfull pero hnd ngbago yung game time nya.. imbis n mdagdagan yung days, wlang ngbago.. tas wla rn dumarating n msg sa inbox, wlang msg n ng-add k ng credits at use credits.. pero sa credit history, meron nman.. ano b yan!

may question ako, will there be any changes in WOE Guild skills after server merge? kasi may naririnig akong mga rumors na magiging 76/76 yung capacity ng GUILD /omg
