Gaming: Ragnarok “Monsters Strike Back!” Event
Big Fish Internet Hub is hosting an event for Ragnarok Online this coming Friday, June 8, 2007! The cafe is along E. Rodriguez in Quezon City. I’m trying to get the cafe owner to give us a map so we can post it on the official website. We were thinking of doing another BTA but it’s getting really old. We’ve been doing it the entire summer and we wanted to try something new. Instead of just doing a BTA, we’ve come up with a completely new live event called the “Monsters Strike Back!”. Oh yeah - we’re giving away an headgear that you won’t find anywhere else - the Valkyrie Feather Headband! More details on the event and the headgear after the jump.
These mechanics are directly quoted from the Ragnarok official website.

umm pede ba +9alice doll ?? or +7alice doll ??
anyway is it possible that no one can be a winner ??
June 6th, 2007 at 1:46 pm
@wauks
i clear ko lang, to win this event, you only need to survive until the last wave and until the appropriate number of survivors are left. you can use any skill and any character no matter what the level is. we don’t need to kill the monster we just have to survive them. am i correct?

I can already guess five classes that’ll win:
)
* Ninja (Cicada Skin Shed + Mirror Image + mDEF gears and Hide + Shadow Leap + SP pots)
* Soul Linker (SP pots + DEF gears + magaling mag pilot = unkillable)
* Biochemist (AB spam + super efficient pots + tanker [Homunculus])
* Professor (Heal Clip + SW + Hide Clip
* High Priest (+10 gears, Heal, SP pots, Assumptio, Basilica)
Others just need overupped equips + White Pots, but these are the top 5 I can think of when it comes to survival probability. If most of the summons would be demon/insect/boss property however, I’d say Prof’s out, Ninja’s in danger but can still match the SL + Biochem + HP.
[ The only monsters I'd worry about would be those that spam spells and skills like crazy, but those are extremely rare and VERY far between... and pretty much anyone who can solo tank bosses (without boss cards and such) could pass this easily... ]
PvM survivability is pretty much a piece of cake, if you just know how (of course, I’m guessing that a lot of players who’d participate would have been PvP addicts + todo bot for so long, they’d probably have forgotten how to fight monsters…).
Star Gladiators with the right build + lots of HP / SP pots can also survive, basically killing monsters off before they could damage him/her
I hope there’s a PvP/PK function during the survival match, THAT would prove interesting
June 6th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
^Yralyn
you forgot a character that has the most chance of surviving even with the strongest mvp. hahaha
June 6th, 2007 at 2:30 pm
well if PK functions are enabled almost nobody will win since they have to deal with Boss monsters as well And I think probably they will summon at least 3boss ? or more
and yeah lots of boss cast skills like crazy XD
anyway if you really don’t need to kill them then the best bet is novice with play dead
June 6th, 2007 at 2:51 pm
Bet ko High LUK Assassin Cross with Perfect Dodge Equips~
June 6th, 2007 at 3:06 pm

June 6th, 2007 at 11:12 pm
@ Yralyn, God, Nazgul, Hellboy
There is one job class that beats all of your suggestions as to the one that has the highest survivability for this event.
And I GUARANTEE that after I mention it here, either:
1) The event mechanics WILL CHANGE
2) The event will GET CANCELLED altogether
3) Or if they choose to continue with the event with the rules written above, then there will be no winner because almost EVERYONE will survive (or at least more than 8 survivors).
Gosh, it’s SO SIMPLE that I find it utterly ridiculous that whoever conceived the event mechanics didn’t even think of it. They probably don’t know the game as well as they should. I’m nowhere near being an expert on RO, but it’s obvious even to someone like me.
Anyways, without further ado here’s the answer you’ve been waiting for. The absolute BEST job class for this event is none other than a… *drum roll*
…plain old Novice. Just like those that beg from you in Prontera.
The reason? Two words: PLAY DEAD
He doesn’t even need to be high level. Job level 7 will do. All you need is to fill him up with SP pots and you’re set to survive this event with no difficulty at all. If you want, you can even equip him with a +9 Maestro Ribbon, +9 Superior Sandals and whatever else can increase his total SP so the Play Dead skill lasts longer.
Sheesh…
June 6th, 2007 at 11:17 pm
Oh, I didn’t notice that Keth already posted the best class for the job earlier. Kudos to you!
June 6th, 2007 at 11:59 pm
^^
haha, all this time i kept myself from letting everyone know about that haha. well anyway, now everybody knows it and they would probably change the rules. haha
June 7th, 2007 at 1:11 am
Does Play Dead work against boss monsters? Because if it does then yes a whole slew of level 9/7 Novices who got Play Dead would basically destroy the whole event.
Oh RIIIIGHT. Just found this: http://www.ragnainfo.net/wiki/index.php/Play_Dead
If anyone tries to go Novice -> Play Dead I think a Prof can go Dispel them, and the LK who has +10 equips and tanks bosses for a living can just Provoke the Novice to get rid of them. Nuisance character solved ;)
June 7th, 2007 at 3:38 am
Play dead works with Boss as well As long as I remenber in bio3 where I was leeching to lvl 99 (weee)
I was just using play dead all day long and suddenly a LK mvp attack our party and proof they all died expet me !!
and yes I dispel can do that but I think he will be more focused on Surviving ranther than doing that and you can’t use provoke on a player unless is PK unabled…
And I think the mechanics will change or something

June 7th, 2007 at 6:18 am
@Yralyn
Thanks for pointing that out. We’ll have to rule out the “Play Dead” skill.
June 7th, 2007 at 7:25 am
i think pwede din ang palladin sa ganitong pagkakataon sila ang pinakamalaking life, may shield reflect and may peco para tumakbo
or champ na naka steel body… or champ na reloc ng reloc
@sir wauks
since nasa PVP room ang mga players, pwede ba sila magPK or bawal?
baka sa sobrang dami ng monsters and monsters skills di kayanin ng pc
June 7th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
pde namang mag undead armor ang novice para nde ma provoke dba
June 7th, 2007 at 5:39 pm
Can you actually kill the monsters? Or you just stand there and wait for them to attack you?
June 8th, 2007 at 10:56 pm
