Gaming: Ragnarok Latency Issues (Lag)

It’s 10:45 AM, Saturday. I’m here at the Level-up office preparing for the ROK’OMANIA event which will be held at Robinson’s Pioneer later at around 2PM. I actually have the box of Ragnarok OST’s which we will be selling sometime after lunch. As I’ve said in my earlier post, we will only be selling 40-50 copies. I’ll try to get some pictures while I’m at the event so I can post them here later tonight. Anyway, I’ve been getting a lot of complaints about the lag since we did the merge. I need your help so we can isolate where the problem is. According to ICT and Gravity, the lag is mainly because of the birth pains of the new servers, however I’m not one to believe in something like that, hehe.

Please help out by leaving comments here every so often about the latency. Just indicate if it’s getting worse or better and don’t forget to include your server, map, and time when the latency problems happened. If you can describe how it lags, then that would help too.

Anyway, I’m off to Robinson’s Pioneer. See you guys there!

Sir Wauks..ewan ko lng kung ako lang..pero 1 thing I noticed these days is when RO uses 99% of my CPU process in the TM which is somewhat strange since i’ve played a lot of MMO’s and usually they use only 30-60% of my CPU processing, these games even include RF online and Silkroad(though i’ve quit already since I got bored). Anyway i think it’s what causes RO to lag so much. Hope this info helped. Keep RoK’in Wauks!!! Nice job on the merge though!

  14. maxado n pong nagiging malaki ang effect ng issue ng item dupe wipe out kasi yung mga merong magagandang items na d nakakacgurado sa items nila nagpapanic selling at sobrang bagsak na ang econ dahil GR 200M! Shits! even SGH 500M! GTB would be next i know and worse Tao GUnka

    Just to inform you wauks so that LU will be aware of this issue….Load Central is the on who is supplying the shop for RO loads, however, my.levelupgames wont accept the card number.. it says “Not existing PPCARD”. We already called the Load Central’s customer support, but it seems that they cannot figure out the problem and told us to call back after 5 minutes.. anyway… tatawagan namin ulit mamaya…

Sa tingin ku din usually nag la-LAG aku if sabay sabay or gagamitin ku lahat ng skill and buffs ku. katulad po kahapon sa BALDUR PVP maps. kung ung party ku lng ang nasa map ok naman pro pag pumasok na ung iba and nag collide kami sa isang part that started everything. naka effects off na rin pu aku nun and still about 5 to 6 secs delayed bawat kilos ku. Sana naman mabawasan ung ganun kase nakakawalang gana mag laro.

    Would there be no chance of uploading or putting up a full game installer on the torrent site of LU? Been having troubles with my old installer and I’m stuck here far faaaar away from civilization (I’m in the office) for the next 4 days. Had to reformat my work system along with my laptop. I really need an installer to relieve meself from too much stress here.

  27. lolx parang ganun padin nag migrate lang yung ibang servers sa “dominant” servers eh… halata naman na inde bagong hardware gamit niyo, nag downsize lang kayo… kaya parehong pareho lang yung mga downed maps and lag issues sa dominant servers…

  32. why not increase capacity server side?’
    can you provide us a backgrounder on the servers being used? the assumption is, when the servers were merged the capacit of the previous servers were used. instead of increasing its specs to carry the total load of the two merging servers, it just retained the same specs.

    its like having 2 sets of desks with books piled on top of them. come server merge, one of the desks were discarded and all of the books were piled on one instead of discarding both desks and replacing it with a bigger one to fit all the books.

    a simpe traceroute to your game servers clearly shows it with LU side and not our ISPs.

    hmmm why wouldn’t my comment show the whole tracert results? could we have this discussion in a forum type of format? LAG is trully annoying since you pay at least a grand a month on internet alone to ensure that you have enough bandwidth yet the problem lies not in the players but on the servers…. I even played pRO using a 2Mbps T1 Connxn (1:1 Upload/Download Speed) and I still get lagged…

    KUYA MAY MALAKING PROB HEHE KC UNG ACCOUNT KO B4 merge ala load pero nakakalro pero na ddc madalas, cguro un reason bat may mga nagrereklamo na na ddc lagi cla, nakakalaro cla konti pero lagi DC widout load, kc sa mylevel up ko ala naman game time eh nung nilagyan ko nawala na DC, so point ko baka nga may prob billing system or something po, just trying to help out po

    Regarding the dupped issue when you got back maybe

    tomorrow, please give us your response if there is still plan for

    continuing the patch wherein the dupped items will be wipeout

    in all servers this coming wednesday maintenance (May 23, 2007).

    Base from what you told in one of your comments after the merge

    that’s your next in the list to be solved so by May 24, 2007, start

    of Agit Lords to be a fair battle.

    Some players are panicking selling their rares, some still waiting

    for those dupped items to be wipeout in order for them to

    buy some rares safely. Hope to see your comment regarding this

    issue.

    talo talaga mga players pag nag karoon ng dupe wipe out. paano naman ung mga walang kamalay malay na dupe pala ang binibili nila? dapat ang inaayos dito eh paano ma avoid ang dupe. dapat ung mga nag dudupe lang ang maparusahan sa action na to. pati mga walang kamalay malay na dupe pala gamit nila mapapahamak. ang lumalabas pa na makikinabang dito is yung mga nag dupe, kasi nagawa na nilang zeny ung na dupe nyang items. rethink your move Wauks, marami ang mapapahamak sa gagawin mo.

    they have to activate the card on their side
    seems like some cards are not included in their list of activated card
    i know
    it sux!

    Sorry for being ignorant, but i was really surprised when i saw my account halved in two. My fault for not checking, but it was a big inconvenience that my load actually went to the main accounts with novices. Haha. I only had about 20 days left on both days. I wouldn’t make such a big deal out of that, but I have to inconvenience myself by getting out to buy load or something. 3x pa naman. I just hope that you can put the split accounts back together after the 9 slots are implemented.

    About the lag.. It’s all right. Got a bit worse, compared to pre-merge. I’m sure siege would be horrible.

    At the end of the day Level-up ends up paying more for the Merge. We’ve already requested more servers in addition to what we have to support the merge because the number of players logging in are constantly increasing each day. Lastly, it would help to have a little patience. There are hundreds of comments in this blog everyday and I really can’t answer all of you.

  67. with all due respect wauks.. the maps in Tyr went down at around 3pm yesterday.. and what time is it now? is that not “PATIENT” enough?

    you knew that after the merge it will be chaos everywhere.. bugs,lags,error…etc..etc but you didnt even try to stop LU from suspending the Customer Support Operations.. if not stop them you could have suggested that it be rescheduled since players would need support now more than ever.

    You gotta ask the IT guys to check on the LAG issue since it’s really SOOOO UNBEARABLE…. We only get to enjoy our chars mainly during siege hours and now none of us can do that… We need assurance that this can be fixed after the next scheduled maintenance since if not… RPC would be meaningless
